Correct me if I'm wrong, but the way they're doing the action combat with the weapon skill tree and combos is innovative for MMOs.

We wont really know until ALPHA 2 kicks in and we get to see. Maybe it is.. Maybe its not. Lets just say "Intrepid" has opportunities here to be innovating, unique, and to repave mmorpg's into their own vision. Will they - and by how much is the question. Remember, STEVEN is modeling a lot of this game from his memories of his favorite game of all time - LINEAGE II .

I have a friend who says tab target is a non-starter. I'm sure there are people who feel the same about action combat. If you can have a system that will appeal to both styles, then it's absolutely beneficial for the game's population.

In many ways my image of ashes has become disjointed and fragmentary since updates skip around so much it has been like two years since there has been a holistic presentation on the unified vision of ashes.

100% AGREE! I kinda wish they would go back, and do a stream as if they are talking to us all again for the very first time, and SELL US YOUR VISION OF THE GAME. Im curious if the original vision is still 100%, or did they have to deviate directions here & there - and if so how & where? A refresher of what this game is, and who it is intended for - in my opinion - would be nice.

I look at it this way, I'd rather be playing Ashes at this stage of development than any other MMO at this time. That's just me, but that's why I'm not currently playing an mmo right now. The combat looks fun and familiar sure, but there's enough new about it that I can't wait to dive in and learn it, like the mobility of the ranger and fighter. The main draw for Ashes though is definitely every other system they are bringing in that is unique and the stuff they are taking chances on. Not a lot of chances being taken with combat or innovations, but that's a good thing I think.

at this stage of development ... the game does not even exist dude the state of dev is near zero. Time to wake up go play GW2 it is exactly the same gameplay with less shiny spells. That's all

Looks like GW2 combat to me, so nothing new in that aspect. I like GW2 a lot and will probably give AoC a chance because of it. So from what I hear these guys saying is that AoC is WoW skills with GW2 combat 😂 Great! I’ve been looking forward to GW3, and here it is, with a new name

Pur Copy paste GW2 gameplay Stop fooling yourself , it is casu ! spamming shiny skills and AOE ... that's all If I could put youtube link I would prove you that is exactly a pur plagiat Ashes of creation is already 8 years of dev + 60 millions dollars and you are happy with the actual copy paste GW2 gameplay . lol you put 7/10... Pantheon rise of the fallen is 8 then You are just blinded by spell effect and visual. But the gameplay is exactly the same Nothing original

Guild Wars is so far removed from Holy Trinity combat, I can't really take you seriously if you draw any similarities here. They're purely superficial. You're not looking at the class identity.

I would have to agree with you. Guild Wars has changed a lot over the years. I recently went back to it for a little bit, and found it barely recognizable to the GW2 that I played when it launched.
