To be completely safe whilst the shoot is starting it’s best to have the shotgun in an open position, we call this breaking the gun. Essentially there is no chance that the gun can be fired in this position as the cartridges aren’t in connection with the guns action and firing pins. You’ll notice as the drive starts most of us will then close the gun and have the gun pointing upwards. This is a great position to be able to shoot quickly should the opportunity arise.
