Congratulations Ashleigh Barty. What a way to end your season. Great match played between the 2 of you. Enjoy your time off. Looking forward to watching you play in 2020
if there is anyone who deserves this trophy and the paycheck it must be ash. what a year. composed, a lot of varieties of techniques, get net skills, consistent, big serve and volley. elina doesnt deserve the 4.7 million. considering her form this year, and her indifferent behavior after the match.
So talented! Nice to see a consistent #1 player with a varied and smart game (since when?). And somehow she's still underrated. Also impressive that she is only 5'5. Fantastic year!!!
@@101poumi Congrats to Barty for not only securing year end ranking but also winning the WTF,she is so cool and composed, yes, Osaka struggled since the AO open but started looking good in the China open. Bianca had a great year too with two masters and a grand slam just like Barty, shame Bianca,Osaka,Bencic had to end their seasons with injuries, anyways a great year overall with OsakaBarty,Halep,Bianca winning a grandslam each,2020 is going to be awesome
Barty has an all-court game with the following weapons: serve, forehand, varied backhand. Love her game when she is ON. Congratulations Ashleigh. I'll be tuning in to watch you next season.
Don't forget wit, slice, and quickness. Those skills alone can't get you to the top spot. She's got great class and humility too. If you're not a fan, Ash is a great player to become a fan of.
Ashleigh Barty 2019 highlights *SINGLES TITLES:Most titles(4, tied with Pliskova) Roland Garros, WTA tour final, Miami open, Birmingham Singles Finals- Sydney, China open *Career best singles performance in all 4 slams Australian open(quarter final), Roland Garros(winner), Wimbledon & US open(4th round) * At least one title on each surface Hard-Miami, Clay-Roland Garros, Grass-Birmingham, Indoor-WTA finals *Highest percentage of match win (more than 80%) *Year end no.1 in singles. * Highest prize money *DOUBLES TITLE-Rome Final- US open And the WTA player of the year is... ASHLEIGH BARTY.🙂
Oliver Martinez she wins the most in her second serve . Also reach 8 semi finals and 10 quarter finals and reach every second week in every grand slam . Was on a 15 match streak and she’s undefeated in fed cup
I agree about the court coverage and forehand, but there's players on the wta with better slices: Hsieh, for instance. Radwanska if she hadn't retired, would also be better in that department. I think Barty overuses the slice. Even with the current field, she will be found out next year as players find ways to nullify her slice backhand, but I do hope she does well at the Aussie Open. Australia has suffered enough with very good players not winning in their own backyard over the years..
Svitolina played very good tennis. I think she would beat all 6 players, but Barty was just incredible. So hard to play against her. Her slices are high-quality and with great serve and forhand and backhand... it is unbelieveable💪
Phenomenal stuff...go Aussie! So composed and clever during the rallies. Terrific mentality, understated and humble person...we are all very lucky when she graces the court!
A lot to love in Barty's game, but what l like the best about her is that she doesn't scream like a maniac at all, much less every time she strikes the ball. No doubled over at the waist, veins popping out of her skull COME ONs, no drama whatsoever. That is class.
Actually her volleying, overhead put aways and court coverage have not been talked about much. Barty should start believing she can win even if she is not hitting aces. Directing more kick serves at opponents can throw them off balance. I believe she can be more dangerous and unpredictable in 2020 by approaching the net more often.
Tbh I thought svitolina was going to win because she was on fire in this tournament. Was not expecting barty to win in straight sets but I'm really happy she won
Barty was smart not playing a power game against Svitolina. Barty gave Svitolina all kinds of balls and slices which threw off Svitolina, who can't seem to handle the slices all that well.
I love to see what the commentators describe as 'cat and mouse' tennis. It's creative and also requires a bit of thinking which is not often what you see in women's tennis. Usually all you get is senseless ball bashing, grunting and double faulting.
Can't even lie, i'm very very impressed with Barty. She's not infallible, but she's a thinking tennis player who sets up points well and has the best slice in womens tennis. For me: 1. Halep 2. Barty 3. Osaka 4. Andreescu
Halep just rely too much on her court speed and just don't use her head sometimes. Her serve is not that good lately and she seem like she has phobia coming to the net. Her matches against Elina and Pliskova were both in her hands but let it go in the latter stages of the set. Guaranteed she had not played competitively much since the US Open but I hope she'll win 1-2 slams along with an Olympic medal next season.
Jeffrey Kaufmann Point taken but remember all the players said this court was playing very slowly. You can see it in the play. Both players I’m sure were also very tired. It was a long season for them both.
I couldn't be prouder of Ash. When I became a fan last year, I believed that by this time she would be world no. 1 in doubles and in the top 12 in singles. I'm still kinda hoping she can take the top spot in doubles some day, but being world #1 in singles and finishing at the top in the WTA Finals just shows just how her game has improved, and it couldn't have been done without her circle and fanbase. And well done to Svitolina on making consecutive Finals appearances. 👏👏👏
My two favourite players in the draw and sad one had to lose. Both ladies play intriguing tennis, especially Ashleigh’s game and i have a permanent grin on my face when I watch them. It is not all about power but technique and skills and speed and clever play. This mix that both women show has reinvigorated women’s tennis. I love Venus and Serena, but they need to add more o this kind of play to their games as these younger players have figured out how to overcome strength, speed and power play. How Ashleigh failed to win Wimbledon 2019 is still puzzling to me. She is truly a worthy number 1, regardless of only having won 1 major. Well done WTA for putting on such a tasty spread this week. I have been lying in my bed and waited for the highlights to appear which have kept me royally entertained. Thank you all ladies of the 2019 WTA Final. Well done. Each one of you had earned your break. The WTA has a bright future and there is Coco Gauff waiting in the wings for next year. Mouthwatering prospects. I aim to be here in this life this time next year, regardless of this #CancerBattle. So let it be Almighty God. Thank you.
I never get tired of watching Barty's tennis - she plays with brain and finesse, and wins. So many tools in her bag and very unpredictable. Outstanding around net. And, that best sliced backhand. I wonder if she grew up playing primarily with one-handed backhand (like Graff) and learned to hit double-handed topspin later on.
So happy for Ashleigh, this was really her year. I’ve been a fan since 2014 and have always known how talented she is and wondered when her time would come. Hope she gets another slam in 2020!
A very high quality match Svitolina can be proud of the way she played. It was close and she forced Barty to win some tough points. Nice job by Barty, her game is wonderful to watch with her variety and use of different weapons, drop, slice, forehand, net play. Its all there and its all great.
I find it funny that the WTA loves to push the whole 'equal pay' message yet this tournament is giving out more prize money than the ATP final. Seems like equal pay is only an issue when men are getting more money. PS: This just creates a larger gap between the top 8 players and players on the other end who struggle to get from one tournament to the next.
That's because the Chinese tournament organizers and sponsors want to pay more. Move ATP final from London to China, they would probably get more prize money.
Deus Ex Machina Thé equal pay message is for grand slams and tournaments where men and women compete at the same time (Indian Wells and Miami) The WTA NEVER meddles with what the ATP tournaments offer to the men. For example there are many ATP 500 tournaments that give way more prize money than the premier tournaments on the WTA but nobody is fussing over it because the tours are different. Don’t demonise one over the other. Women aren’t fussing without reason and Men are certainly not at the losing end in this case...
Barty's all court game makes her consistent; her top class serves make her a champion. Considering the height, Barty has the best serves in today's WTA!
I'm afraid the WTA have their eyes on more important people. I think if Elina 'Pusher' Svitolina or Noami Osaka had won there would be much more celebration and promotion!
Fantastic consistency, and on all surfaces. Slow HC, Fast HC, Clay, and Grass. Congrat Ash. Also Ash is so intelligent and adapts her game so amazingly depending on who she plays. Today she hit the most number of top spin BH the whole tournament bcuz Elina's BH is solid and won't get broken by the slice from Ash.
It's Barty party again! What a way to finish 2019. She is one the most enjoyable and respected players inside and outside the court. Would love to see her winning the Australian Open 2020.
Ash just made Australian tennis history and will continue to inspire young Aussie girls to never give up on your dreams. Australia is so proud of you and what you've achieved, the heart of Australia is Uluru in the red center of our land but you have made the rock sing to the first Australians and shown the dreaming is in us all. The rainbow serpent fills our great southern land with wonder just as you do now.
@@101poumi I'm not going to waste my time arguing with you, to be quite honest. That that was what you took away from what I said says everything about the kind of person you are.
Andrew Mark what’s wrong with what he said? It’s true that balls that hit the net cord go over more often if they’re hit with more pace aka with aggressive tennis.
@@icyolives I never said it wasn't true. What I did say was that she played a tremendous match, albeit that she was a little fortunate. I wasn't even referring to the net cord, but I would rather not do Ash a disservice by languishing on it. As for Football Winner- I've encountered him before, and let's just say that it doesn't surprise me that he looked for negatives in what I said, rather than appreciating that actually what I said was positive.
Svitolina is very unlucky. She hasn't lost a single match on the tour till now. I thought she's gonna win that $4.75 million. But Barty broke her streak in the FINALS. Same in the case of Barty too. She too lost only one match. So sad. None of them got the money!!!
Ooi Thaim Seng 😂😂😂 agree . She literally fake her injury she didn’t even look injured agaisnt Kvitova . I bet you she was scared of vsing the goat Barty
@@101poumi Why do you hate her so much? Why does it give you so much pleasure hating on osaka?I admire Bianca but you commenting under every post against a particular player is not good, you have been doing this since the china open final, enjoy your fav player victory but don't become a FANATIC 'cause her losses may hurt you bad, noone is at top forever, just enjoy the game, only told you as a well wisher, don't take otherwise, wish you and your fav player BARTY the very best for 2020 season
I don't think the WTA will be happy that Elina lost, I guess they can always arrange for Elina to play Venus in any upcoming tournaments. I bet think that will make Elina feel better.
I don't think that the slice is a great tactic against Svitolina, hence why she used it far less today than she usually does. On a slow court like this it can give Elina too much time to get to it...
Having watched this online live I find these commentators absolutely painful to listen too..... They were so biased towards Svitolina and how great she is etc etc ......... Then she lost 😂..... #eggonface
Svitolina does not seem to have grown or added anything new to her game. Her stagnations maybe due to the fact that she played so many tournaments without taking a step back to examine her previous loss and learn from her mistakes. Barty did so which is why she won.
Barty’s backhand though still weak has improved drastically. Players keep going to her backhand because they think that will throw her off her game and not thinking that she has the best backhand slice in the game. She can slice her way to any victory. Good match!!!
This , is Women's TENNIS at its best. These two young ladies are along it look easy. Although I am partial to Svitolina, I cannot be surprised at Barty. I enjoy seeing one-handed play coming back to be the norm for tennis. I saw two-handed first used by Cris Evert against Martina way back in the day& I was surprised at how she was allowed to use that repeatedly! I expected her to be penalized...everyone started doing except for the Europeans. For me , tennis should be played one-handed, the idea being that the racket was an extension of your arm. That's what I loved about Amelie Mauresmo, Francesca Sciavone, Justine Henin's & a few that could pull it off. Two-handed tennis seemed like baseball. This match btwn Barty & Svitolina showed that. A great match it was indeed! Grace, precision, speed, power,& no grunting!
