I was so happy watching this match. After a long time, I watched a match where I could hear the click sound so distinctly - the sound when the racquet hits the ball. It was a beautiful rhythmic song in this whole match. Thanks Ash Barty & Karolina Pliskova for the grunt free beautiful match!!!

Ash Barty is amazing! To be 5’5” and a multiple Grand Slam champion against women like Plíšková who is 6’2, is unfathomable. Barty has unmatched hand eye coordination, intelligence, technique and work ethic.

Great to see another strategy other than trying to hit the cover off the ball works well. Nole would be looking at this and be again admiring Ash because she knows how to patiently craft a point ! Those cross court floating slices few other ladies in 10 years of tennis have ever considered using. Its Ash’s signature shot.

Goes to show that physiologically, the grunt is not required to hit a tennis ball. Hence; grunts with an unacceptable volume should be penalized at the discretion of the umpire for two reasons. Firstly, they distract from the concentration of the opponent. Secondly, they are displeasing to the audience. Frankly, it's ridiculous that I'm even articulating such common sense but this is our new world where common sense takes a back seat to special interests.

i second that..i really wondered why majority of the women players started to grunt their larynx out en masse and got the answer that it dates back to late 90s and in to the new millennium with the exception of monica seles(from late 80s)..

Barty’s all court game was just a bit too good. I’d almost forgotten it was possible for tennis to be played without grunting. What a delight. Well played Pliskova for being able to fight her way back in to the match and take the second set. Both these players are so likeable.

Yes her foot work was the only one I am watching on her a lot of time . So elegant like Federer . Not unlike other players who wearing like a ballerina skirts but the way they open their legs after the use of their forehand . Really awkward .

Congratulations to Ashleigh. Karolína was probably nervous from the start, but fortunately she found her gameplay later and it was a great drama to the end. Small details decided. If she will keep her game level from Wimbledon, she can win her GS as well. I am curious which Czech woman will make it to the US Open final :D J/K, but why not, we have so many talented players.

Athleticism still has its advantages. Karolina tried her best but she doesn't have the sheer speed and easy power that Ash has. Loved how quiet this final was. I was dreading it had Sabalenka won.

just getting into tennis and my Australian friend recommended I check out Ash Barty. this woman was a phenom and should have been at the top of search results when I was getting up to speed on women's tennis, but it's all just Serena and Maria. stupid algorithm. i wish her the best in her post-tennis life and will be studying her carefully as I prepare for my first season!

I love tennis and been watching for more than 2 decade but never been a fan of women’s game becoz of disgusting grunts . But when u appeared then I had been following ur game ever since becoz of ur humbleness and decency on the court and the way how u making ur play looks so easy but only noticing that it is not easy when her opponents is running like a rabbit 😂.
