This video answers the question: Can I analyze the Ashli Babbitt case? Babbitt was shot by and killed by a police officer as she stormed the US Capitol in January of 2021? Was she a conspiracy theorist? Was the shooting justified?

As a veteran, she knew that she was illegally entering what is identified as ground zero by military personnel. This is the most highly sensitive and therefore protected building in America. The expectation is potential death.

Lt. Byrd, the murderer, just pulled out his gun and shot her with no warning. She was unarmed. With new video of a FBI/NSA operative planting pipe bombs at both the Dem and Republican National committee hqs the day before. And the DC police were uninterested when a random plainclothes cop advised them at the scene of the bomb at DNC. They sat in their car, finishing their donuts or whatever while people walked past. Jan 6 was a fedsurrection and Dr. Todd is low info uninterested on this. The keystone DC cops started firing projectiles and tear gas as people in the crowd behind the barricades. Not to mention kicking and beating to death another unarmed woman in the tunnel. This “eval” is deep state crap. The so called po-lice did nothing when blm-antifa-biden supporters destroyed Secret Service guard shacks, injuring 200 or so SS agents, smashed and looted businesses and set fire to the historic church in an earlier actual riot.

@Curtis Bogue satisfying that one person acknowledges it, but never addressed by the nation! I blame such an inability, and unwillingness to reevaluate information, on the failure of the US education system to teach rational thinking skills, fact-based assessment, and reality-based ethical thinking. The proliferation of religious based "educational" institutions, play a terrible part in the ignorance of the United States population. The national Narcissistic outlook is goaded by the unfounded reverence given to the notion of "Constitutional Freedoms". This has become "MY equal rights trump everyone else's". The World is witnessing a selfish nation imploding on itself. Most other "modern western capitalist" societies see nothing wrong in a minimum wage for all, a monetary safety net, and basic health cover for all. Why do you think the USA, which has held itself up as the savior of other Nations, has such difficulty with these concepts? It is neither mental illness, coincidence nor an accident that roughly one third of US citizens think like Babbitt.

I sure would like to hear your commentary on the hundreds of killings by police of unarmed men & women,some people are shot in the back.We are fortunate that the rioters were our police,law makers,you name it,and had a look that gives them a pass or the death toll would be much higher..Not to mention somebody would be charged with murdering a police officer,and we sure wouldn't be debating whether or not the person that incited the riot should stay for the remainder of his job contract or resign.

I guess the problem was that if Babbit got through the doors into the area where politicians and staff were sheltering in place...that would have emboldened multiple other people to flood in there behind her. It seems police reinforcements were coming but unless this had been radioed to the officer behind the door, how would he have known? Also because she had been part of Capitol security, presumably Babbit was one of the people leading the mob through the building? She almost certainly knew all the procedures and where people would hide in the event of a building invasion. My impression of the officers' actions in shooting her, from footage at the time was that it may have been a warning shot... really it should have been. Even if she continued to climb through the door, it's likely a warning shot would have led others to pull her away. All the same. If an angry mob is about a foot away behind a broken door, that is a terrifying and very dangerous situation and the officer had to make a fast decision. Very sad all round.

@@luns486 Right. On one hand, it dragged on for several months with many buildings being burnt down causing an excessive amount of property damage, some of which were Federal buildings, which taxpayers will no doubt be expected to cover the cost of. During those riots, hapless bystanders were dragged out of their cars and beaten for no apparent reason. Roads were blocked, and people threatened. Parts of cities were overrun and considered to be "autonomous zones" while the mayors of said cities downplayed the seriousness (The Left is the establishment). In those "autonomous zones", murder and rape ran rampant. A Black extremist group, more interested in Marxism and sowing racial tension rather than the actually welfare of those they claim to represent, was given a platform and billions of dollars from corporate entities (Again, the Left IS the establishment). The riots did nothing but sow deeper division and hate in the United States, which even spread over to other Western nations. And what good has come from it? More walking on egg shells? On the other hand, a building was broken into, and it was over in a day. It just happened to be the crowd who the media and Liberals have been unjustly demonizing and pushing into a corner for a number of decades. Don't act like there's no bias. This case shows the risk when a police force looses its command and control. There were Senators leaving and a few feet from were Babbit was. What the armed officer couldn’t know ,possibly is that the tactical squad was on the stairs. The man next to Babbit said Gun, gun, several times.

There are four or five apparently unarmed police officers blocking the way of a couple dozen and growing number of yelling protesters, who tell them repeatedly to get out of the way, or else. After a couple of minutes, officers do, leaving only glass and a couple of wooden doors between the protesters and the congress people and a couple of guards on the other side. The protesters beat in the glass with bats and break through. There are two guards CLEARLY visible on the other side, and even if Babbitt couldn't see them, her companions warned everyone. She voluntarily climbs through the window, presumably because she was the smallest. Even if the officer knew she was unarmed, she could have been through the window and unlocking the door in a couple seconds. Ashli was married to another man and cheated on him with her now widower husband, who in turn cheated on his long-term girlfriend. The girlfriend contacted Ashli's then husband and after separating from the boyfriend, Ashli rammed her vehicle into the other woman's car a few months after the whole affair happened. By then Ashli was living with the cheater boyfriend before divorcing the cheated husband. So, dear Ashli was not a patriot. She was a cheater who married the guy she was cheating with and then went down the Qanon rabbit hole. The capitol officer did what he needed to do to protect the legislators and staff on the other side of that door and she died in vain. Almost a year after the whole thing and I get to see this video. As you stated, the officer didn’t know how many members of the mob might be armed or would swarm in, worsening the situation. The officer’s first duty was to protect our elected officials. Which I’m sure would include keeping a kind of “no-man’s land” between the mob and our officials…even if it means shooting some of the mob just to hold it back. I can say I am a fan of Dr. Grande. Originally, I found many of his analysis thorough and well articulated. The sad realization is when someone who’s opinion respect pollutes that believe with their own bias. 99 out of 100 times when an officer is involved in a shooting, you can expect Dr. Grande will side against police action. Often, he is right, but sometimes he is misguided. While I completely disagree with people storming the capital, he was much gentler on the police officer who shot the suspect. He has never considered an officer is put into a difficult position except in this video.

Didn't you see the original video (and hear Dr. Grande's recitation here) of all that was going on at the moment the officer drew & fired? Conspiracy nuts & criminals were storming the inner sanctum of our capitol with the stated intention of overthrowing the election. People came with a scaffold & noose to hang the United States VP. Sheesh. If ever there was a time to shoot people breaking through the doors & windows, that was it. The officer did not set out to kill anybody that morning. It was Babbitt's own stupidity, arrogance, delusional thinking & sense of entitlement that got her killed.

She went there with a specific intent. And she died attempting to execute it. There were people there with zip ties. They intended to hold the government officials hostage. She didn't need encouragement to do it. And yes I'm well aware of mob mentality. But you're giving her an excuse. And I find that happening a lot when, and it's usually whites, certain people commit crimes. Suddenly a lot of excuses are made about mental illness and this that and the other thing. But I never really see those types of comments when it's a person of color, that they may have mental illness, anger, grievances, or whatever that fueled their actions. I'm sure that that was not your intent. You are empathizing. I get that. But it is something that people do when they identify with the perpetrator. And the reason why that disturbs me is because it glosses over behaviors that's dangerous to a lot of us, and I'm really tired of that. And that's the reason why we got a January 6th. And the reason why they are threatening to do something on January 20th. We need to stop making excuses for grown people's behaviors who make really bad choices that endangered hours as well as their lives. Yes, and mental health services should be made available. This officer probably already had communications telling him that Capitol Police were being violently assaulted. He wasn't just there to guard a door, but to protect members of Congress and their staff from being killed or harmed. I think he also knew that if she did get in, and he had to deal with that, that other insurgents would start coming through that window and they would be outnumbered very quickly. I don't feel, given what we now know, that he could have waited. If Babbit had not been shot, then there would have probably been more fatalities. None of these insurgents had guns, that we know of, but they had plenty of other things to assault officers with. Bear spray, sticks, tasers, shields taken from officers, and many were dressed in tactical equipment, including bulletproof vests. A former military trained person, which many of these insurgents were, are a particular danger to police. And someone committed enough to fly completely across the country to do what she did, shows an extreme amount of conviction to do violence. Now we know this event was tactically organized by extremist groups and did have caches of weapons outside DC. I used to live in Alexandria VA and work in DC. I just found out yesterday from people I know who live there saying that the day before the insurgency these people were in this neighborhood terrorizing local business owners and anyone on the street, in Alexandria, a tourist destination which has a lot of hotels on one particular street. Many of these insurgents were booked in those hotels. She told me her workplace in Alexandria had to be evacuated because of this threat. The same thing happened that evening in the Adams Morgan neighborhood in DC. The mayor had already told people not to go out. But people had to walk their dogs or go to the store, and were harassed by the Proud Boys, a known violent group, harassing people on the street. The PB's were all staying at a luxury hotel there called the Line. She could see much if this outside her window, and police cars coming in to deal with it. These people were perfectly willing to target ordinary citizens that had nothing to do with their political protest. Just a gang of thugs with no respect for anything or anyone.

Thank you for fairly addressing the issues faced by the officer. My son is a former LEO, and was always scared of the possibility of having to make a decision whether lethal force is warranted. Many are quick to play Monday morning quarterback without considering that sometimes, an officer has a split decision to make that can alter the course of the suspect and family, as well as their own life. I have some conspiracy theorists in my family who are almost cultish in their continued support of Trump, and who are horrified that I don’t agree with them. Since I am hearing this a year after this incident, I’m not sure if you have covered the psychological analysis of people who are still convinced that Trump was the greatest president, that he shouldn’t have been impeached, and won the election.
@merriemerrie7378
@merriemerrie7378 Год назад
I agree with your consideration of the position of law enforcement officers. Too often people fail to appreciate the difficulty of having to make split minute decisions when lives, including their own, are at risk. When people are breaking the law and failing to heed the warnings of law enforcement, it is they who have put their lives at risk. Having said that, not all LEO shootings are justified. Even when unjustified, it does not mean there was malicious intent. When shootings are questionable, it is best to reserve judgement in support of an investigation. I have never supported those who stormed the capitol building. Nevertheless, I have been concerned about the reactive attempt to bury the Babbit shooting in secrecy. As for the 'cultish' people who are still convinced that Trump was the greatest president, consider this: About half of our country supported Trump. Both impeachments failed due to deeply disturbing attempts to use the government and media to frame him for things he did not do. To dismiss the Russia-gate scandal, FBI/DOJ/Clinton malfeasance and Biden-Ukraine-China corruption, in preference for belittling Trump supporters as cultish conspiracy theorists is argument by name calling, not to mention denial. Like many Americans, I have mixed feeling about President Trump. There are aspects of his personality that I reject for being abrasive and unlikable. I am not convinced the election was stolen, but I am not naïve enough to insist that voter fraud is not a problem. That said, on the whole, I find Trump's policies have been more predictive of the future, more supportive of LEOs, more economically stimulating and stabilizing, more supportive of minor programs, more border protective, more protective of domestic farming/manufacturing/jobs, more international peace-keeping and more protective of the safety, rights and liberties of American citizens than Biden's. I will not allow the chorus of median and high tech voices seduce or intimidate me into abandoning critical thinking and common sense. Perhaps your relatives are just refusing to follow the acrimonious herd of Trump bashers who never seem to tire of making irresponsible accusations and characterizing those who disagree as psychologically ill.
