Gotta respect your decision to rather spend the money for a hotel on a flight for a new trip report for us and sleep in the terminal instead. Big up for that level of dedication, it's highly appreciated!
I've been flying with Asiana mainly over ten years, and I really dont want Asiana Airlines to be merged with Korean Air together and become a new "Korean Air". Asiana serves exclusive inflight service that would satisfy many passengers, and if aquirey happens, I'm worried if monopoly will happen in Korean airline systems, such as high prices of ticket, and lower service quality. As a korean, I'm very proud of the fact that we have two major airlines with excellent services, and I am really praying for Asiana Airlines for the future.
Still hoping that the international anti-trust pressure will derail this merger. A monolithic national airline inevitably means higher ticket prices and bad service with little recourse for the passengers.
Yes exactly, South Korea is one of the few countries that have airlines in two different alliances and it is also the home to many Low cost carriers, which makes South Korea's aviation market extremely competitive, this merger simply reduces competition, they could have kept it the same as China where Air China, China Eastern and China Southern are all state owned carriers but only Air China is the flag carrier, which means that for this case Korean Air would remain as the flag carrier but Asiana Airlines becomes state owned and stay in Star Alliance
I'm flying in Asiana A350 from Frankfurt to Seoul next week and this video is really helpful to know what to expect in my flight soon. Hope you enjoyed your time in my home country!
Thanks for finally reviewing my favorite airline's long haul product! I've been waiting for this video to come out for months. I can't wait for the A380 and 747 Brutally Honest videos to come out!
Their schedule has the landing of the a350 in parallel with the KAL 777's departure at SFO, so you can see their planes side by side and it's really cool
As always, I love the video. By the way, Asiana also operates A380s to LAX sometimes as well. I didn't search this up, but saw it in person this summer. I was flying from LAX to SIN via NRT, and our inbound Boeing 777-300ER was SUPPOSED to park at the gate next to the said A380. They went a bit past the gate on the taxiway, and I was lucky enough to witness the LAX Airport Ground Operations Manager come there to visually inspect the situation. I vividly remember him saying, "Asiana 283,, push back." Within a second they did it, and it looked really cool to see it happen. Thanks for the vid, and the opportunity for me to share something I haven't told anyone!
I flew ASIANA ICN-SFO in September and I echo with you completely. The dishes are exactly the same as mine but they are elegant and delicious. The legroom is very good (much better than united). The amenity kit is a good addition. I would have to say that Asiana actually is better than the already good ANA (I flew LAX-HND in August) in many aspects. Star Alliance in east Asia is competitive (don’t forget EVA Air) and I hope Air China (as one of my home airlines) can catch up😂
In 2 days time, I will be travelling on an Asiana A350, so this video is perfect timing! More excitingly, I will then connect onto their A380 to Tokyo, check-in opens in a few hours, so I hope to score a seat on the upper deck. I first flew with Asiana last year, they were solid and good value considering they were charging half of what Singapore Airlines was charging for a similar itinerary. The catering out of Seoul was superb like what David experienced and the A350 seat is good. Just remember to download some content to watch on your own device, because entertainment options are somewhat small and on the A330 I flew on the return flight, the screen was glitchy to touch inputs and the remote was unresponsive. The IFE also ran pretty hot, must have been an older system.
Hi Simply! Please come back to Indonesia we have a fair few airlines you haven't flown on such as TransNusa, Sriwijaya, Super Air Jet, etc. Amazing Video btw, keep it up!
Awesome review video of Long haul product of Asiana airlines ❤...I really appreciate your videos and the contents are really useful for choosing best airlines for travel
Asiana Airlines’ financial status is so bad that no company in the world even agreed on buying Asiana except for Korean Air. Nobody likes Korean Air’s merging Asiana. But Asiana’s former CEO did so many fraud and bad choices for the company, so just going to bankrupt is also very damaging. Eventually, stock holders, banks and the government agreed on the merge.
Exactly! South Korea is one of the few countries that have airlines in two different alliances, it is also a home to a bunch of low cost carriers, this merger will simply reduce competition in the South Korean market, they could have atleast made both Korean Air and Asiana Airlines two separate state owned carriers with Korean Air the flag carrier just like in China where it's big 3 are all state owned, but only Air China is the flag carrier, if they're gonna keep it this way atleast kept this the same way as how Air France and KLM merged.
Thank you for one more excellent flight review! This one is extra interesting for us because we will fly the exact route but the other direction with Asiana in the beginning of Mars. We hope they keep up the good works!
As usual hear a video is absolutely well done. Asiana looks like a great Airline and I really hope this merger doesn't happen, because more competition and diversity is always better
The Free showers in Seoul open up at 6:00 or 7:00 AM and they are really clean and they give you free towels and soaps and shampoos are inside. You see people sitting outside waiting for them to open. That way you don't really need lounge access.
I love your videos. I have been watching your videos form a long time and i love the improvement in quality in years. But can you please review new air india express and akasa air in future
I am an Asiana Diamond Plus Member with a Lifetime status. Asiana is my Go To airline when travelling to nothern asia and it never disappointed me. The Smartium seats are great because they have armrests to move up. I had several cases where there was a seat free next to me and you can really enjoy the additional space. This is not possible with the fixed arm rest PremEco at other airlines. Asiana business class is great, the A350 bed is a inch longer and that makes a difference compared to the A380 version. The former First Class seats are available as well, I received an upgrade based on my status several times. But I started flying economy with them and the service and food have been extra everytime. Comparing this to Lufthansa, well..... you cant compare. I am very worried abouth the meger with Korean Air because the quality will degrade for sure.
Admire that you braved up and slept in the terminal!!! Recently did the same at J’burg. First was sorta expected, and had a hotel booked…but it was so near the airport that no taxi or Uber would pick me up. Misery. But the security staff purposely looked after me as I tried to sleep on the frigid metal benches, they were so kind, and I happened to have bedding with me. On the return the same due to a cancellation, but on separate tickets so there was no option. I never want that experience again. Asiana looks fantastic! PS - my long hauls were on KLM, and in Economy actually did a final service 35 (!) minutes before landing…one of many constant services…I counted five full services during the flight… stunning.
can we appreciate how accurate his pronunciation is of Korean and Chinese words lol

Asiana really outshines its other national carrier. We recently flew to VN via Korea and while we usually fly with Korean Air we decided to change it up and boy were we pleased with this decision.
Fun fact: Asiana is owned by Kumho.. "isnt that a tire manufacturer??" I hear you asking.. Yes.. its that same Kumho.. and thats why you also see the Kumho Group Logo on the Asiana livery :) (the little boomerang looking thing above the A)
Thanks a lot for this video. By the way... I missed my LH712 (FRA-ICN) on 13th May 2024 due to a cancelled connection flight (BSL-FRA) and therfore was rebooked on Asiana OZ542. I can confirm your impression 100%. Compared to LH simply more than one level better over all! Great food, very friendly crew, on time... and at least, the much more convinient airplane - Just perfect! I will consider to book Asiana next time direct.
Flew on asiana a few times and have to say they are very impressive.I love their food onboard, especially 삼밥(sambab) I used to fly british airways from London to Seoul, but now i fly with Asiana. Straight away i saw the difference.Asiana has much better food and service. An absolutely phenominal airline.
Few days ago i flew domestic with thai airasia. I thought that the plane engine was broken but the captain announced that he’s very proud flying a brand new A320 neo and the engines are just that quiet. You heard Ahaaaaa from all passengers lol
Great video. I was planning on flying economy from LAX to BKK on Korean Airlines, but after seeing this video, I'm tempted to fly Asiana. Any recommendations?
Did London Seoul return - the return leg was dragging quite a bit as we had turbulence over Europe and had to avoid some bad weather... And then the luggage took over an hour to arrive... We were knackered 😅 overall i loved asiana - but what was a bit annoying was the fact that they force everyone to shut their blinds for the entire flight... Although thers so much cool stuff to see when flying over central asia to avoid Russia these days :/
Can u do a brutally honest episode with cebu pacific? (specifically their a330neos) Since u already reviewed their competitor, PAL, why not do the budget carrier of the philippines?
Surprised they're not using the A380 on this route. the complimentary lounge access for Economy Smartium is only at Incheon airport. I flew in business class on this plane last April to Seoul Incheon from SFO
Asiana A380 Route: ICN - NRT, BKK, LAX, JFK, (SYD, CDG ... ) It will be placed in areas where Korean demand is high. There is not much demand going to Germany.
Nice soft product but lack of functional internet speeds and overhead air vents on an airline infamous for setting a high ambient temperature is bad. Would also like more information on airport shops/services since that can sometimes be the deciding factor when everything else is roughly equal.
I sat twice before, everything worth for a 5 stars, but the IFE is old asf, like it older than me, a330 is same as my age for the ife, and B772 is the oldest one, like it older than me in everything, but luckily the seat is much bigger, while the IFE is EXTREMELY SMALL AND OLD
On the newest widebodies in the world, economy class seats do not have a remote control for the entertainment screen. Yeah, just touchscreen. A remote control in economy class means that the aircraft is an older one.
Did you know, Simply Aviation Air India's first Airbus A350-900 was delivered from Toulouse airport at 23rd December 2023 with the airline's new livery, It has 316 seats with premium economy in it, They have Installed Collins Aerospace for the Seats and Panasonic ex3 for the IFE system The First Maiden flight of the A350-900 will start at 22nd January 2024 from Bengaluru to Mumbai. Can you do a trip report or brutally honest on Air India's First A350 Love from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳
Don’t forgot United States with Delta, United And American And United Kingdom with British Airways and Virgin Atlantic Aswell as India with Vistara, Air India and IndiGo
