Hey Zach, I just got the FF3 after using the FF2 and GR8 for 2-3 years without issue. Yet, with this FF3, my heel became extremely painful after the third use. It felt like my heel was being squeezed on both sides. After use, it felt like my heel had been bruised. I suspect the heel side wall is too thick and rigid hence why my foot felt squeezed. What do you think I should do? Why is it like that?
Hi Zac I now have a pair of the Novak FF3s and tried them out over the weekend. There is practically no break in time. The shoelaces are now better thank the ff2s and can lock the foot in better. Very comfortable on the ball of the feet and great lateral stability and easy to take off. Love them and would really recommend for most player types (I am generally a serve volleyer)
Very durable shoe! I have the Novak FF3 for clay, but i had a big problem in the beginning - the rubbery part over my toes made quite a few calluses. Otherwise very comfy and amazing grip on clay!
Love everything about this shoe wish they made the toe box anatomically and not a round toe box causing the toes to squish together, and I also wish it had a zero drop sole.
These have squished my toes together so much my big toe is angled in so much I would consider it a bunion! Why can't they increase the size of the toebox a little?
The FF3 gave me calf soreness on one of my legs. I bought them in half size down at 10 bcz 10.5 felt loose on the heel. Shoe ended up too snug on the foot
I play tested the Asics Court FF3 and found the COMFORT issues in this new model too much to overcome. The shoe felt fine walking around my house for one day, but once I got them on the court, a number of significant issues became very apparent. First and foremost, there is a problem with the cushioning under the heel of the shoe. After an hour of play on the court, my foot was throbbing, and it felt like I had rocks under my heels. Whether this is due to the new “Air Channel” in the heel creating a smaller stack of foam in that part of the midsole or if it is due to the higher density foam of this design creeping into a major part of the heel cushioning, I am not sure. What I am sure of is that my feet hurt for three days after one hour of play in these shoes. Overall, I found very little bounce from the midsoles of these shoes and nearly no shock absorption. Perhaps if I added insoles to these shoes I could have improved this, but I feel strongly if you are paying $165. For a pair of tennis shoes, they should feel right out of the box and after proper break-in without adding another $50. in insole cushioning. In short, fit and cushioning needs to be good for me without making modifications to be a keeper. Finally, I did not feel this shoe was all that quick. They felt a bit slow to react when needed - especially up and back. The fit of the shoe is also a bit tricky. All in all, I was not at all impressed with the Court FF3 and cannot recommend them based on my experience. I don’t know what it is with Asics and my body, but proper cushioning and medial support continues to be a problem for me in all their shoes - the FF3 being the worst.
@G. K I would agree from my experience with that of Dr. Zach. In general, I think Diadora, Lotto, and Babolat are making the best performance shoes right now. Read his reviews on these shoes and his picks for the FIVE BEST TENNIS SHOES for some suggestions. Personally, as the COURT FF3 was supposed to be an all-court shoe, I would start with the Diadora B icon, the Lotto Raptor, 100, in the Babolat Jet Mach 3 - all great shoes.
I have a friend that bought these and in 3 weeks he already had holes on the side of the shoe, on the Pguard. He said that he thinks the FF2 were a lot more durable than these. I currently have the FF2 but I still should try out the FF3 to see my opinion on it. Great video btw!
I tried them in store for the perfect fit. Had to go down half a number. I'm using them for 8 months, 4 to 6 times per week on the padel court and they still go pretty well. Such a good shoe to spend your money.
Made a comment on your gel 9 videos about heel pain.. I just bought the power step maxx orthotics about 2 weeks ago and my heel pain is about 80% gone, and so is my back pain! Great recommendation. Love putting these in my gel 9's and my ff3's
.... could not add to my comment .. hence adding another. My all time favourite was the gel resolution 6.. had to give up on the gel res from 8 onwzrds as they really sqeezed the bridge area.
i really like your videos they really helped me with basketball shoes because honestly ihad no knowledge in them and now i know how to find a good shoes for me and my friends keep up the good work
Loved your previous (3yo) video about what shoe are good for what play style and it brought my attention to the Court FF2. However, they're mostly not available now, so I was wondering will the FF3 be just as suitable for wide (stubby/fat) feet?
Hi Dr! I am looking at some new shoes and was wondering which Asics would be best for someone who tends to roll their ankle, but also likes coming into the net and plays doubles a lot.
I have mid-foot pain and love wearing power-jogger type shoes ... The toebox should be wide ... will these be a good fit for me ... ?? Which are better if not these for tennis ??
Love these videos! One question about court shoes in general, is how much toe room should you have for a 1:1 fit? Cause I tried on a pair of these in 10.5, didn’t have a 10, they felt great, and had a thumbs width of room in the toes. Is that too much?
I usually have a thumb in mine - personal preference but I’ve found that works the best for me and the most people I’ve treated :ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sqn8k3tVl6c.html
Hey doc! I got a question but it’s not related to this specific pair of shoes. I have bought 3 pairs of tennis shoes and I dug a hole at the ball of my foot on the insoles for all 3 of them within a month or so. I do play everyday but what can I do to help with that? I bought a pair of FP insoles hopefully they’ll last longer for me. I feel like the rest of the shoes are still good but the holes on the insoles are giving me blisters on my feet
These shoes cause my left foot to hurt… my quick google research seems to point towards metatarsalgia. Immidiately got the Speed 2 and didn’t experience any pain. Used the Court Nxt and Vapor 2 with no problems either. Any possible reason why? 😅
Hi, I love your channel! It's so helpful! Do you have a video about best shoes for narrow feet and/or most anatomical toe box? It looks like so many tennis shoes have a rounded/tapered toe box, which always forces my big toe to move in when I step; I feel like it creates a bunion, which I am really worried about getting. I just purchased the Asics Court FF3 and Solution Speed FF3. I'm returning the Solution Speeds for the reason listed above (and others). The Court FF3 seems to be what I'm looking for, but it is really snug! I like snug but I can't tell right now if it is too much. (I tried it on without socks, wore it for a while, and the mesh on the tongue left and indentation on my feet.) Do you think the Court FF3s loosens over time, or do you recommend getting another shoe?
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4IRERlDxdW0.html - but the whole anatomic toe box bunion argument isnt really based in solid anatomy and biomechanics - tapered toeboxes are what is most efficient for tennis and causes the least injury - hence why they haven't changed in recent years despite the vocal minority
Hi there, I have played with this shoe for 2 days now and I felt numbness while playing. I normally wear 8.5 US on nike vapor 9 so I bought the same size with this one and I realized that there is about 1 cm space in the toe box. Do you think I need to go down half a size?? PS: i'm a neutral asian feet with short big toe
I have always gone a 1/2 size up in the FF2s and the narrow toe box still squeezed my long toes. I thought the FF3s were so comfortable right out of the box, but I’m finding I can’t really move in them. I’ve strung through the second grommet and tightened the laces, but I feel like I have flippers or clown shoes on. I love the fit, and the incredible heel cup. What is my issue? Is it just that they are too long or are these wider? Should I go down 1/2 size? I really want to love them.😢
@footdoctorzach Did you find anything to support our feeling that we can't get any quick sprint take off in these? Completely different than the FFCourt 2s.
Great review! I’m looking at either going to the ff3 or B. Icon 2. I have gel res 8’s and I love them, but for some reason they make my knee hurt (thinking I need a more neutral vs stability shoe. Are the ff3’s more neutral than the gel res?
I also find that the Gel res 8 hurt my knees, I end up wearing Dame 5, (basketball bounce foam), they absorb shock better possibly? But when I played Dame 5 for basketball, my foot and arches would hurt (More jumping?) Either way, I will put FF3 to the test this week and can let you know how they are compared to Res 8. We probably have similar foot type.
You used to make videos like "The 5 Best Tennis Shoes Spring 2022". There are a bunch of new tennis shoes coming out, it would be cool to see something like "top 5".
Hey Zach, you mentioned that on one of the graphics that this shoe wouldn't be good for skinny ankles. What's the reasoning behind that? Is it because of the slipper tongue/upper?
Hi I have had two pairs of the court Novak ff2’s and they were the best shoes for my foot. Just ordered a pair of ff 3’s but not the Novak model and they don’t fit nearly as well for me. Should I get the ff 3 Novak? Has anyone went from the ff 2 Novak to the ff 3 and likes it? Is there another shoe or brand that is similar to the old ASICS ff 2 court Novak? I have a pair of gel resolutions 9’s but they aren’t as good for me as the court Novak ff2. Looking for some advice if anyone’s already went through this. Thanks Zak
What I love most about the Court FF2 is the twist truss sole. It reduces flex and fatigue. It wraps from side to side. I feel more supported and can play longer. You glanced over the changes to the sole on the FF3. Is it the same, better or worse? You talk more about the truss system on your Gel Resolution 9 review. Is that because it is more supportive than the court FF3?
There are so many new (tennis) shoes out there. Would you plan to review Joma Ace Pro 22? They doesn’t cost like Nike or ASICS and they seems to be looking quite good. Maybe even a bit like basketball shoe, hope that can motivate you to review them :)
@@FootDoctorZach Im not sure what i want :D I just startet tennis 2 years ago. I would say my skill level is 3.0 - 3.5 I need shoes for indoor court (carpet granules) so im going for the allcourt version. I have the Gel Resolution 7 Clay for Outdoors and they fit well. I want to be a strong baseline hitter but the reality is, i need to be all over the cout, because my mate and me arent good enough to do long & hart baseline rallys :D
What's the point and even putting a gel insert into the forefoot if it's going to be that small?! Nike's zoom models at least cover the entire forefoot, they provide great cushioning and bounce too. Don't get me wrong, I like Asics.
Replying here in hopes that this question gets some screen time soon. Similarly, I’m hoping to see a few options of the “lowest drop” tennis shoes, though I’m not necessarily concerned with stack height.
@@I31M I know Zach thinks highly of the Babloat Jet Mach 3 which is a "speed shoe" which is lower to the ground. Other shoes like this that also have proper cushioning and support might be the Diadora B.Icon, Lotto Raptor 100, and the New Balance 996 v5 - all of which Zach has picked in his Top 5s in the past.
I honestly hate this take for tennis shoes because of the eccentric loading from serving can cause Achilles ruptures/ calf/ hamstring pulls so I don’t really touch this subject outside my clinic where I can give the time it deserves to discuss it with patients and clients
@@FootDoctorZach I am glad you pointed that out as that was the issue I had with the Adidas Cybersonic. They were so low in the heel they killed my Achilles tendon.
i hear the FF3 is narrow. The new Gel res is better than the old one... especially fit wise though i think it fits 1/2 a size long. Gel res is the safer bet
@@FootDoctorZach I felt the GR7 was one of the best shoes I ever wore on a court. It left me severely disappointed when I had the GR8s. I found them very uncomfortable and they hurt the outside of my right foot. Almost like they were too tight on one foot. I'm really hoping the GR9s fit better.
Zach, please×3 could you take a look at Ja Morant 1 because it's on shipping for me(from my girlfriend). I'd like to know the reality of them, the technology & it's performance Love your channel 🇮🇳
Man I hate how ASICS keeps sliding more into the pointed toe type shoes. I don’t have the widest foot, but all these super tapered toe boxes end up cramming my pinky toe…
Didn’t care for them. Tried them on and they felt longer than predecessor. Even after going down half size unlike ff. Also felt heel slippage. Not worth the price and returned

@@markmoore5981 aha, its prob the harder density of foam directly under the heel!, in running shoes, they normally place the softer foam directly under foot and the harder foam nearer the rubber outsole. i had problems a decade or more ago from hard aggressive pronation posts in foam midsoles from brooks that gave me plantar fascitis in my heel, mainly in inner part of heel, i would suggest a insole replacement for your asics, one that will help disperse the heel weight over a bigger area?
