Great review... I took out my Glideride shoes for the first 10 mile run today. The shoe is amazing. Extremely comfortable and I felt so fresh in the legs!
I was sold until you said 11.5 weight. It’s kinda seems look likes fuel-cell from new balance as well as the next percent has a similar shapes and the peg turbo. But with some many other options at a lighter weight. Huge improvement from ASICS at least they are trying now. The gel nimbus has been the same for 20 years
ASICS Cumulus 7 one of my favorite shoe when I took up running and loved it then. It was simple, plush and didn’t weigh a ton then every iteration got heavier with unnecessary overlays and mid soles were hard. I dropped ASICS years ago. Seems like it’s a desperate attempt to play catch up with the MetaRide and Glide Ride. They’re not going to gain many fans with 11oz shoes for $150-$250.
Good to know. I think it’s important to mention that you’re weighing your shoe size. This way watchers don’t get confused with demo weights that are highlighted with other shoes on websites, catalogs, etc.
Thank you. Nice one. I think the model that is really going to make maximum impact for ASICS is going to be the EVORIDE. Glideride is £145 in UK......EVORIDE will be £110 !! look foward to your review of that one...EVORIDE.
What do you think of these as marathon shoes for someone who plans to finish at 4 hours 30 or so and weights around 175 pounds? If not these, what shoes would you recommend for that?
I am new to running or at least taking it more seriously. I've looked at a lot of shoes tried on a fair amount,Wondering about a recommendation if you have the time. I am intrigued by the stated running efficiency on this shoe and that little bit of help in the stride.. My issues: I'm a heavy runner 190+lbs, standard/medium arch. Midfoot strike. Very subtle overpronation on the right. Not noticeable in some shoes. Oh and I am super slow! Nike Infinity react seemed to cause calf tightness(hard to push off). Vomero 14 wasn't as soft as I was told it would be, felt shin pain i don't think i like the Zoom bag. NB beacon v2. The best so far but not quite as flexible in that mid foot break. It's almost right but not quite. Adidas Solarboost I like for running in grass and on turf.
MCM we hand a lot of the trail shoes off to our reviewer in Colorado. There are trails here, but I am training for Wineglass Marathon, so I stay off the trails while training. I am a chronic ankle twister. Check the site for trail shoe write ups.
Hi Thomas, I love watching your insightful reviews! Would you recommend Asics Glideride over Nike Vomero 13 for stability and cush. I also suffer from shin splints at times and was considering the Asics Metaride but its too $$$ and I am not sure if it will serve the purpose. Pl guide.
The Vomero 14 or Glideride would work. There are exercises you can do to help with shin splints. Search youtube for that and you should be able to get past them.
Somewhere in between I would say. My best half marathon practice run was 7:19 pace. Just shooting for an 8-8:30 pace for marathon, so nothing too quick needed.
filoIII true about the facts you just said.. Asics Nimbus 17 was their actua last 'premium high end breaker' shoe.. since then it's just horrible... Have finally switched over from Asics.. Pretty happy with my Nike Zoom fly FKs
filoIII cause they seem to be the best shoes Nike has made (except of the vaporflys of course).. fit my foot really well, have a nice soft heel and heck springy forefoot...
Interesting to hear your thoughts on this shoe vs the Nike Vomero 14 as they both have the review of distance and cushioning with weight in their DNA. Thanks
