An INITIAL REVIEW of the new ASICS NOVABLAST 2. Is this remix of the NOVABLAST a step forward for the model or a mere upper switch up?
Some upper changes here, slight midsole alternation and even some outsole tinkering. Does this new version eclipse the old one?
I would recommend going a half size down from your standard running shoe size in this one. It does run long just like the original.
A shoe i have purchase with my own earth credits, check out my views on the upper, midsole and outsole after an initial 8 mile effort.

I'm on my second pair of Novablast v1 and love them, they do feel a bit unstable in the corners at first but you get used to them, either they firm up or your ankles get stronger ;) Have just ordered a pair of Nova v2s and really looking forward to feeling the difference. Nice new colours too. Thanks for the review.

I’ve only done one 4 mile run, and I mirror your thoughts! It was so hot and I struggled but the novablast2 just helped me motor on! Even though my feet were sweating, they didn’t feel uncomfortable hot whilst running! And yea, it’s got a thick upper material but fits so comfortably. Despite it being too long in the sizing, it was so easy to get a good lockdown with the lacing, even if those laces felt almost like wool to me! But yes I would say it’s a contender to the invincible for me 👍

Exciting review, I've got a pair of these on the way. Hit 300 miles in the V1 and they've lost their joy at tempo pace so these should slot in nicely, and I'm especially excited at the increase in forefoot cushion as the V1 did tend to bottom out abit in the forefoot, especially as they've aged. First run in the Adios 6 last night too, a truly wonderful shoe! I think I'll use it as a replacement for the Endorphin Speed as that's approaching end of life for me too, but it's so incredibly versatile I'll probably use it for abit of all my runs.

I’ve gone for three 4+ mile runs in my V2s, and while I do enjoy them, they run HOT. It’s pretty rough here in Houston, TX right now and the inside ball of both feet get a weird rubbing sensation starting around the 5k mark. I went and bought some thinner feeture socks to see if they might make it a more enjoyable run. I’d hate to have to keep these shelved until temps come down a bit. On the positive side the SL20 SummerReady are handling the weather perfectly.

Had 2 pairs of the V1, loved it! Everything from easy miles and even sessions that had some marathon or threshold segments. Just finished second run in the V2, 28km in, the bounce out of the box is so noticeable. Both V1’s lost that at around 400km

Got the velocity nitro and symmetros for daily - long run efforts. Adios 6 for tempo stuff. Endorphin speed for race pace, threshold. Not sure Novablast would add anything.

Hey Edd, a bit late to the party here. I'm considering picking up a pair of Novablast 2 as a sequel to my 2nd pair of V1. I got 1100k out of the first pair with minor outsole wear. I'm at 700k on the 2nd pair and similar results. Bit of wear on the heel grips, worn holes on both heels but otherwise still feel good. The factory laces were terrible and first order on both pairs was to replace with a wider more premium flat lace which improved comfort. I usually run in US11 in Adidas boosts (solar, ultra, SL20) and found the NB slightly long. Thicker padded sock fixed that. Are the NB v2 true to size or same as the v1? Wondering if I should get US 10.5? However we are heading into winter Downunder. Love your channel man 🙏🏼👍🏼

Hey edd. Both got our reviews out today then 😂 I wish that I went down half a size in this shoe and I do think that perhaps that’s somewhat “ruined” my experience of this shoe. I don’t think it’s a bad shoe, but I just didn’t find it exciting, or as exciting as I expected.

The first one was a really strange fit. Hence my half size down. Much better on foot, perhaps due to my time in the last one. I’m amazed that other people who got the shoe before release haven’t mentioned the sizing!

People often say the Novablast is unstable - never noticed it myself as it is not a narrow shoe. Vaporfly is similarly bouncy but narrow - that feels more unstable to me.

I remember the oven like upper,cheesy tongue,outsole rubber like a brick and the forefoot gave up its cushioning within 1 mi from the house..a question I can't understand is why many shoe companies make their outsole rubber like its for a tank..the cushioning of almost all shoes is shot less than 4oo mi so why make the outsole to last a 1000 mi? That's a disservice to runners that don't understand what a worn out shoe does to their feet and legs. .looks like V2 will be a big hit though ..strange that other Asics shoe are long but the Sky and Edge are too short..I had to return for 1/2 size bigger..

Why is more not made of the Gel Nimbus 23 ? It seems to be seen as a dull option but after a sequence of Ultraboost, Triumph 18, Zoom Invincible I find that they shine as a very stable max cushion....

I think the nimbus is up there but for some reason people dislike gel these days. I use the nimbus lite 2 right now and love em. From my understanding, many reviewers just pass on the nimbus and go straight for the nimbus lite these days.

Interesting you got the peeling as well. First other report of this have seen. Maybe only happens in Somerset as I noticed it after a run at Henstridge on Sunday. I did wonder if I just burnt them on the baking hot Tarmac LOL although it only really happened with one shoe. Was a bit of firm trail there on an old railway section and did OK but was only going slow in the baking sun. 15g heavier in a UK 13 for me than the first version and fits very similar so still long and wide. ASICS sizing seems all over the place. I probably could have got away with a 12 in this but the Metaspeed Sky in a 12 fitted like an 11 and could barely get my foot in. For an easy day shoe I kind of prefer more length not less but a 12.5 would probably be ideal. Oddly they do that size in only the GEL-NIMBUS 23 so is that their most popular shoe I wonder?

If you like a firmer more traditional feel the peg is the way to go. The novablast is a touch lighter and very squishy, maybe too much if you over / under probate at all. 👍🏼

Speed and this shoe are very different beasts. The speed is much lighter and less present.

I would say if you are a neutral mid to forefoot striker with some good ankle strength they are no problem. Very squashy in the heel otherwise.

@@royahoy8655 The rebel is massively lighter and with less present upper. More an uptempo shoe that could be a racer if needed. I wouldn’t want to race in the novablast. There’s an 80g difference between the rebel 2 and nb2 in my size.

Same unstable feel for people wo sometimes overpronate? I will pass on this one... It got even higher and narrow in the heel...
