Ну врят ли ты здесь все спишешь на ураган. Вполне возможно ты подумаешь что кто-то решил тебе отомстить и это явно не ураган. А теперь представь что у тебя в коробке 3000 (три тысяча) буквенных символов. И представь что ты подкинул все эти буквы в воздух. Упав на асфальт какова вероятность что эти буквы образуют какое нибудь слово? А какова вероятность что эти буквы образуют какое нибудь предложение? А какова вероятность что эти буквы образуют какой нибудь абзац? А какова вероятность что эти буквы образуют какой нибудь текст? А какова вероятность что эти буквы образуют какую нибудь книгу? Вероятность равна почти нолю. А ведь двойная спираль днк намного сложнее устроена чем текст на асфальте. Ты после этого разговора скорее всего попросишь руководство что бы твоего коллегу отстранили от работы в связи с тем что у него поехала крыша. Так вот предыдущая ситуация еще более нелепая. Бытует мнение что наша вселенная хаотична. Но я с этим не соглашусь. Я уверен что наша вселенная упорядоченна. Так что ребята случайностей не бывает. Случайного везения просто нет. Наша вселенная не хаотична, а упорядоченна. Просто ставьте цели и достигайте их. И верьте что у вас тоже может получиться. Не сдавайтесь ребята. Why? Linux is widely used in all sorts of industries and environments. Most servers in the world run Linux too.

it saves complexity because boxes could be different dimensions, if it were to place a taller box it might crush the box into the conveyor. also for each box size it would have to calculate how far down to move every time it placed the box

@@coreysuffield the simplest is to put one laser on the belt conveyor itself or on the robot itself, this laser will measure the distance to the box. There are still a lot of ideas how to solve this little problem.

@@coreysuffield it can be done with some kind of force monitoring to tell when it touches the conveyer belt or some other system to tell the size and shape of the box. If it uses force monitoring then it doesn’t need to do any calculations to tell where to move it to, it just lowers it until the force decreases. Robots that just use position control aren’t that great, adding force control makes it a lot more similar to how a person works, if you think about how you place something on a table, you move it down until you feel that it is on the table, same if you push something, you can decide how much force to use, you use both position and force control. Adding force control to a robot makes it a lot more versatile.

Well the suction idea is a bit impractical and has too many issues. Notice all the boxes it picks up are the same in dimension and size. Using suction there's going to be a tighter weight limit. It's only going to be able to lift boxes that are light enough that the suction will hold. The second it becomes too heavy the suction will fail. As she also says in the video, different shaped boxes are also a problem due to surface area it has to pick up but also because the odd shapes can off center the balance causing the package to pull at one side resulting in the suction failing again. If you could build a second arm that came in after the box was lifted and supported the bottom until it's close to the belt, that might work better for solving this problem.

You can just go buy a spot robot if you wanted to. Nothing stopping you.

Start by building a portfolio. And I dont mean creating a list of your past accomplishments. I mean do some impressive stuff that would win you internet points. Stuff that you would want to post on reddit, youtube or tiktok. When you can showcase that you can do all this stuff by yourself, it makes you appear as a valuable individual as well as self-dependent and therefore be seen as reliable asset as an employee. When you develop that kind of background, it makes it easy to make that your application to the team. Just ask yourself "what do I think is cool" then research what it takes to make that happen and then make it yourself. This is an extreme way to get a job and super unnecessary, but if you can do it, it will make you hard to ignore, even if you live on a completely separate continent. Hope this helps.

They probably pick people that would be good for interviews and prepare the interviews beforehand. It doesn’t seem like it is just thought of on the spot, it seems scripted. That isn’t to say the person being interviewed didn’t write the script but just that the answers were prepared and practiced beforehand.

1. Applying for the role? Sending a resume/cv? 2. C++ and Python are more inclined to AI and Robotics. 3. Problem Solving and lots of math. 4. Computer Engineering/Computer Science

it would add quite a bit of complexity to do as you say, it would have to know the dimensions of every box and calculate the place move every time, or just have another camera that tells the system when box is near the conveyor. also there is risk of crushing a taller boxes. a small drop is so much easier\less expensive, and nothing is going to get damaged from such a small height, i work in a warehouse and have seen merchandise be treated way worse by people, like being dropped inside of a plastic box from waist height onto a concrete floor

@@coreysuffield I could imagine it already does that calculation when picking the box. Otherwise how would it know were to pick it and where exactly to drop it. The height it dropped the boxes from themed consistent. I find it odd to pick the boxes carefully only to let them drop on the belt.

It is much simpler to do rather than having a system to measure the size of the box or a force sensing system to tell when it touches the conveyer.

Yeah the robot looks neat but it has a lot of unsolved practical problems. The biggest being the weight of the boxes. A suction can't lift beyond it's weight limit. A way to help it a bit is to introduce a second arm that can support the bottom of the box but if the suction can't lift it in the first place then the second arm is pointless and can't get in to help.

if a truck load is on pallets then Stretch is not the right tool for the job. for standard shipping boxes it is very common for them to be packed the way you see it in the video. it probably would not be difficult to make a remote operated obotic pallet jack but barely worth it since pallet jacks are already easy and super effective at what they do

@@AmazingKevinWClark most shipping boxes already get weighed so it would be easy to flag a trailer that would cause Stretch to have problems. it would be less complex to just have it stop and let the machine operater/team handle the heavy box. it probably has a sensor that detects if a box detaches from the suction gripper

@@coreysuffield yeah it’s not hard to sense, the pressure in the gripper would drop and the flow rate would increase if nothing is being gripped.

open source even Steam deck uses Linux based OS the only reason Linux is slower in terms of popularity and developments because no profits were made. Once it catch-up, nothing else matters and will always be flexible on any processors chipset x86 x64 ARM ARM64 PowerPC MIPS. You don't need to reverse engineering it just to make adjustments which is why it is best for developers and servers

Huh? Why would they use anything else? They used QNX on some of their devices, but the development OS is always Linux. All the other robotics conpanies I know do the same. There is literally no reason whatsoever to use anything but Linux, even in real-time applications.

@@vitalyl1327 they are plenty of reasons not to use Linux, especially in real time applications. It is common to have a microcontroller running the real time aspects and a Linux machine telling it what to do.

@@conorstewart2214 of course, if you can use an MCU or an FPGA, you should use them. But if you need more compute power, then a beefier ARM or even an x86 is unavoidable. In this case Linux is perfect - you can isolate one or more CPU cores, set nohz_full for them, disable RCU interrupts on those cores, and then any Linux process running on such a core exclusively, avoiding any system calls (i.e., no context switches) will be suitable for real-time, the only variable timing will be memory access then. Even better if you're using a heterogenous SOC (such as Xilinx UltraScale+) - you'll get a real-time MCU there, an FPGA, and Linux-capable ARM cores, so you can easily mix and match hard real-time and soft real-time and not-real-time-at-all loads on the same device, all driven conveniently by Linux.
