Aside from the fact that the school board's action was stepping over the Constitution, it revealed real cowardice: not willing to invite the student to their special meeting, and obviously being so insecure in their own religious beliefs that they feel one art work is going to offend or endanger anyone's religiosity.

It is worrysome that so many Americans put the loyalty to their religion over loyalty to the U.S. Constitution.

Thanks Liz Cavell and Christ Line. Your efforts are appreciated. Having been on the receiving end of what fundamentalist doctrine can do to a young life I know personally how important our freedom of and from religion can be. We can't control what parents do with their children, but we can keep their schools and our public spaces safe from proselytizing.

Schoolboard member: I personally find the art offensive. Free speech: Good, that's freedom of speech, think critically and get over it.

Meanwhile, what do they tell this child every single day? "God loves her, but not enough to save her"...

Oh boy, got a principle towing a line over here with that religious mumbo jumbo promotion stuff too. Also using mental health/drug recovery/ and football all mashed up, if kids follow hem it will lead to religious netting.

That often is the rationale I get from some in discussions about doctrine. That is about Christianity being a majority of people and so it is right. Never mind that they likely would all argue with each other which one's organization is the right one. Pure insanity doctrine is.

It's going to stay, it should stay, and the religious right should be proud of their efforts. For decades now, I've been watching the religious right clamor about religious freedom within public schools. They have appealed to the judicial branch so many times, I've lost count. They were warned many times. `Okay, but what are you going to do when a child expresses their freedom of expression in a way you don't like?` Well, here's your answer. Cry and whine about it being offensive.

Unfortunately the art is quoting from an Ethel Cain song called Sun bleached flies so they probably cannot make money off it. I love it though!!

So, the buy bull thumpers actually admit that it is merely a popularity contest. YOU, we like! YOU, we don't like! YOU, LGBTQIA+ we really don't like!

imagine if this were a Muslim school board and community, the student would be doing a swan dive off the school roof
