Three questions answered from the 'Ask Andy' series, produced for the Octopus Ukulele Academy...
Jacquie wonders whether picks are a good idea for young students, Jim asks how to place difficult chords correctly in a fast song, and Anders wants to know why the internet is full of videos in different tunings from his familiar A- D- F# -B!
Keep those questions coming and tune into the Octopus Ukulele Academy for more help, tips and advice!

Nicely explained, Andy. Very clear. I find that Bm is often followed by G or D, so having that barre in place, I’ll play a first inversion G 4232 using the F shape or a D using the C shape, 2225. Barre chords are a real way to open up the ukulele, don’t you think?

Absolutely essential yes! Every chord is a barre chord, it’s just that some of them use the nut 😄

Truth! Brute strength isn’t needed for strumming. The only folks I know of that commonly use picks are the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain.

Ah yes you’re right, some of them do. Well spotted! 😊
