We see all sorts of sizes and shapes of these levers bike to bike, even side to side on the same bike. And then there's the whole aftermarket with shorty levers, etc blah etc. Dave explains what to look for in evaluating and adjusting what you have, and what to look for if you're shopping for replacements.

Could listen to you all day, Mr Moss! You are full of knowledge to a new rider like me!

Great video as always. I've looked through quite a few motorcycle technical advice and tuning channels but Dave Moss Tuning and SportbikeWrench (his old channel) are the best ones for me. It's not only that there is a lot of attention to providing correct and useful information, but i find it somehow pleasant to watch Dave share his knowledge. Installing his app now.

Full sized palms and shorter than average fingers suck. Especially with gloves. Palms either too tight or there's slop at the finger tips. Thanks for the video Dave

20 years I've been riding. Into bikes for 25 since I was 12. Rode for a decade without ever adjusting anything. Rode the next decade with better control and more comfort with less fatigue... just watched this, in my garage next to my R1... tried this... Dave Moss you are a genius. I think I've been 2 clicks too far out for 9 years with this bike! I'll need to check on a ride and with gloves on just to make sure... Mayne my hands shrunk!? Or maybe a buddy with bigger hands messed with it when admiring Pazzo's lovely adjustment. I hate that lol

Dave Moss Tuning jobs a good 'un! Works a treat. No longer an overstreach, although I wasn't previously aware I was overstreaching... I have a problem with my hands, called dupytrens contracture. The tendons are too short on my little and ring fingers. Closing them to about 90 degrees. It's painful and a distraction after a little while, so less effort using my gnarly old paws... the better! Anyone with carpal wrist or digit issues/old injuries should use a bit of savvy when laying out their simple hand controls. I found by moving levers further up the clip on it gave me more space for gripping with my outside 2 fingers. Shorty levers with a more severe angle made it all work. It really is the simple things innit!? If it keeps dme riding happier and a bit longer then that is the best possible result! Cheers Dave.

Warning: Dave Moss doesn't play the piano. He uses the four finger numbering system and refers to his index finger as his first finger - just like a guitarist. Road riders normally use the five finger numbering system because the left thumb normally controls the indicators and the horn.

Would be really handy if you could list ten good brands that make aftermarket controls. Ie rear sets, levers, bars, seats, etc

Dave Moss Tuning I’m excited for that! I’ve spent far too long looking over paused youtube videos screen shooting and zooming in to try and make out what it says on their track bike rear sets or levers only to find that the brand is well out of my price range.

here's another topic - wheel balancing - how necessary is it?
@catalystreactionsbw
@catalystreactionsbw 5 лет назад
I've had a wheel weight fall off and the vibration was astounding! I prefer to balance the wheel and epoxy the weight to it which minimizes the impact of a lost wheel weight externally.
@catalystreactionsbw
@catalystreactionsbw 5 лет назад
Williams replying here. Poetically, the need is directly proportional to the speed. I know a top shelf tire guy, works MotoAmerica events, sells every brand of race tire, who said with todays wheels and tires, only national level racers, which Dave Moss is, can tell the difference. But we should test it anyway.
@beholderlt
@beholderlt 5 лет назад
My guess is depends on how bad out of whack the rim is. I always balance my street tires but my front wheel always needs a lot of weight and the rear needs barely if any.

I have small hands and the de the clutch only way i can use the clutch is creating a 1cm space on the leaver… ☹️ does this cause any problem to my bike, is the any other way of resolving this problem?
@catalystreactionsbw
@catalystreactionsbw 3 года назад
As long as the bike does not creep when you put it in gear there is not a problem

Does that mean that in case of an emergency brake you jam the lever onto your knuckles? Is it even possible to perform a optimal brake distance with only two fingers and the lever jamming into your knuckles?
@catalystreactionsbw
@catalystreactionsbw 4 года назад
100% yes. A big factor is changing brake fluid regularly as well.

100% yes, as is getting the right fork oil to stop the notorious "cupping" cruiser get from the oil being too thin.

I took my standard legnth stock levers off my MT09- to add some shorty MZS levers- worst decision of my life. No feel in the front brake at all now, absolute shite idea.

How to know that you need to replace your clutch plates i used to do lots of clutch wheelies and just replaced the clutch wire because it broke what are the signs

Engine speed will increase but actual speed will not, or engine note changes quickly under hard acceleration with loss of momentum.
