The short answer to this is NO! Just letting your grass grow doesn't encourage #biodiversity in your yard, and only gets you the side-eye from neighbors 🙄.
We suggest adding native plantings alongside a manicured lawn. Think of lawn as more of a throw rug than wall-to-wall carpeting. In spaces like paths and play areas, it may make sense to keep a tidy lawn.
Take some time to ponder the space in your yard...
🌳 Which areas are used as paths?
🌳 How much space is used for recreation?
🌳 How much of the rest could be converted to NATIVE PLANTINGS?
Every square foot of land under your care is an opportunity to #restorebiodiversity.
MAKE EVERY SQUARE FOOT COUNT!
When you add your native plantings, make sure to add them to our map! All new and existing native plantings on the map move us further along in our U.S. goal of 20 million acres.
