I had an argument against a protestant about intercession of the saints, I said that prayers to the saint was alien to them because they removus scriptura the book of tobit before they sola scriptura the bible. He became silent.

Protestants "pray to the Saints" all the time, they just refuse to acknowledge it, and bring in verbal distinctions. For example, if they pray through Scripture, they are essentially praying "with" the human author. Same if they meditate on a Wesley, Whitfield, Edwards, etc, sermon. Likewise, when they watch an RC Sproul sermon on YT (though they may have to wait a few centuries before he's in the company of Saints 😂😂😂)

@@TimSpangler-rd6vs Holy Spirit inspires Jonathan Edwards to write a sermon and a prayer for the Church. Same indwelling Spirit inspires a modern Christian to read & pray along. The Protestant can deny Communion of the Saints if he wants, but the only thing missing from bis prayerful meditation on Edwards was "Jonathan Edwards, ora pro nobis!"

There is no verse in the bible that says pray to Mary Jesus"s mother, but there is a verse that says many will revear her. So it's ok to revear her.

Do you believe in the Communion of the Saints as prayed in the Apostles Creed? That we are one body alive in Christ, although the body be dead, we are alive in Christ (e.g., Eph 2:19-22; Cor 12:13; Rom 8:10-34; Mt 27:51:52; Heb. 12:1). If so, then we see where the communion of saints in heaven receive the prayers of the faithful on earth. See Revelation 5:3-4, and 8; 1 Tim 2:1, 3-7 commands prayers and petitions be made on behalf of ALL men, not dead or alive alone. We are one body as fellow citizens with the saints are of God's household (Eph 2:18-20). Pauls says to be alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints (Eph 6:18). There is no difference between those alive and dead in Christ, we are all alive in one body, being built up into one kingdom as living stones. Paul also says that though he be absent in body he is present in sprit (1 Cor. 5:3-4). Jesus commands John to write to angels of each of the seven Churches. If you really want a particular verse about followers of Christ being led by Mary, then see also Psalm 45:14-16. Prayer is just a communication or a request, we make a prayer of petition in a court of law for suit even today. Don't confuse worship, which inherently has sacrifice at its core with communication to God or someone else.

I did 12 years at catholic school and never missed mass until I was 15- We were told we could pray to Mary- but not in a way she could grant wishes. It was more like she was gods receptionist. So we could pray to Mary and basically ask her to pass our prayers on to god. Put a post it note on his things to do. Put in a good word for us. And as she’s female and a mother- there was an assumption she may have been slightly more approachable on some subjects. I don’t believe in any of it now- But I was in the Legion of Mary. ( we had a very grumpy priest who had to run our group-in his lunch hours- a group of about 6 little 9 year old girls. It always felt like he was begrudging being there- which made sense years later when we heard what he had been up to with the boys, so it was decided it was best they made him hang out with little girls in his lunch hour rather than wandering the schoolyard when there were rumours afoot. He was later charged but took the cowards way out rather than give his victims justice) But the Legion of Mary was the first committee role I had- as the treasurer. We took minutes and had an agenda and prayer lists and a small smooth of money for the biscuits we served at our meeting. And it was alllll about Mary!

You don't believe in any of it - but you're on a Catholic apologetics channel(?) identifying yourself with a "catholic background" to spread untraceable gossip? Thank God that though such things did (rarely) happen at least it was (far) less frequently than in other churches & other institutions where such people infiltrated to betray them & have access to children. Radical changes have been made since then also to add protection but for schools, churches, etc.., such people will always target the best of organisations and groups looking for weaknesses in defences so we/they can never stop being vigilant.

Why not just ask Jesus and miss out the middle men and woman, does Jesus not want a relationship with us or not. See where I'm going with this.
