Yes, without a printer it will ask by default if the customer would like an email or text receipt. However, without a printer, you will need either a manual cash drawer or the Square recommended USB driven cash drawer. The printer is what drives the cash drawer to open in most cases.

Jayvee Tenebroso Many printers have a configurable option to open the drawer every time something is printed. You would go into the driver configurations and enable "Open drawer on print" or something similar. If you're developing POS software then you should contact the manufacturers directly and ask for the open drawer ASCII codes. Epson is the most popular receipt printer brand but if you want to cover your bases you could also check with Star Micronics, POS-X, Citizen, Seiko, Cognitive TPG, Bixolan (Samsung), and Ithaca. +jzimmerman1229 You can order a new key. The lock number should be on the silver part of the lock on the front of the cash drawer.

+jzimmerman1229 One other thing you can try is to check the bottom of the cash drawer for a release button. Some older models have a hole underneath which hides the button. Not all models will have this.

+POSGuys.com It was a clover drawer that was full of the merchant's money. I ended up just taking the drawer apart, but thanks for the reply, I couldn't find a release button.

Actually I just inspected the drawer from a clover. There's a cover on the bottom you remove with a screw that covers a lever. If you move the lever the drawer pops open.
