Bjorn is a Berserker...Berskerker were a real thing: In the Old Norse written corpus, berserker were those who were said to have fought in a trance-like fury, a characteristic which later gave rise to the modern English word berserk. Askeladd was serious about offering that place. You can also see it in how Bjorn reacted: Bjorn was furious, because he knows Askeladd the best. Bjorn is the right hand man, he understands him as much as it´s posibble with someone like Askeladd. And he understood that he was serious and Bjorn couldn´t accept that. He wasn´t ready to follow someone else so he interfered and went for Thorfinn.

Honestly pragmatically speaking Askeladd had not much of a choice... he is a pirate and his men followed and trusted him for a reason. Its his job, they commissioned him a murder... if he got away without Thors life all his men would have abandoned him. He is the leader because his men wanted him to be. He told Thors to kill him and he refused, he offered Thors a way out by joining them but he made it clear he would refused even without words...

@@rorschach5184 In a battle, not going around Villages and killing civilians including children just to get money and food. Don't get me wrong I love Askelad but bcz we spend so much time with him ,we get attached to him and forget that he has done horrible things.
