Such an innovative video. I love that Matt Pat said 'focus on learning' because these are the early days. Recently i have been doing that. I have stopped beating myself over things I can't control like trying to go viral and have lots of subs over night cos you can have that and have poor quality subs (i have experienced this in my previous channel) I am more focused on building a loyal community, giving value and scaling my channel gradually so much so that i am so excited when i see a comment at all under my video even if the video still has about a 100 views cos it means that the right people are Watching it (bcos someone left a relevant comment) I also worked on my audio because I noticed that my audio needed a little work. Same thing I did with my editing. Though i am a growing faceless RU-vid channel. I am happy taking these baby steps while giving value to my subscribers. Thanks for the video

Nate Curtiss's point about video view caps within niches really hit home for me. It takes a lot of unnecessary pressure off content creators, especially those in smaller niches who might expect massive view counts. He's right, it's all relative! A video with 2,000 views could be considered a huge success in one niche, while another might expect millions. That's such valuable advice!

Those are such great questions you are asking Marcus, as a small channel these are the things i wondered about and to hear it from bigger creators are great. Confirms allot of things for to me personally. Allot of people would say chase the hype the trending topics and yeah most are doing this but im more of a long form content creator but allot of what im getting is making sure you do what you enjoy and will enjoy long term and yeah what i enjoy doesnt get much views and im not sure if it will ever but i dont want to grow on content i don't enjoy making because that message is so important and im sure with this mindset i will reach my goal. This video was so fun, taking the teaching/education aspect of your channel, giving some behind the scenes at VidSummit, and seeing some of our favorite creators all in one, well done! Appreciate more of the conversation around your niche, and making it specific to what you can bring to it. Also love the advice that you should make content in a category that if it blows up, you're excited to dive in-I have met many that have burned themselves out from RU-vid because they've done well but it was more jumping on trends and not actually what they're interested in. Worked years ago. These days the algorithm is just interested in making sure as many people as possible get to see your content WITHOUT you ever getting monetized, resulting in a completely stable number of watch hours, no matter what you do and no matter the audience engagement. For me that number was just below 1500 hours. It was when I posted weekly videos and daily shorts that people really loved, it still is now that I've given up and haven't posted anything new for months...

I did listen to your other video regarding analytics and tweaked it. People from Pakistan & Indonesia don't have a good retention rate for heavy metal. I found other countries with much better retention rates that are cheap to run ads on that like heavy metal and figured out how to get more U.S. viewers. U.S. viewers have a much better retention rate for heavy metal. Amazingly, I did get 10K followers in 9 weeks after I tweaked your analytics, but I do believe that it all started when I put this one video online. After I posted it, in the beginning of July, RU-vid sent me thousands of followers and this one video got like 6k views in like 4 or 5 days from what I remember. Then I got over 180K views in the first month from RU-vid sending me tons of followers from that one video and from taking out small ads on other videos and tweaking it. I didn't need to take out any ads on that other one because it just skyrocketed my channel organically. Presently, I got about 120K views this past month, but I didn't post for a few months. I'm really impressed with everything I learned, and I really liked this video. The more followers you get, the better you need to be at producing videos. When I tell people in bands and owners of venues that I got 12K subs, they all act so differently than they did before I had any. The look on their faces is priceless! Soon I'll be at 15K. I wonder why people act so differently when your channel subscribers increase? That's something you should touch base on. Some people with questionable personalities began to get jealous, others started liking me more, etc. That would be a great topic for an upcoming video. I thank God for the ability to be able to do this. Thanks, Marcus for all your advice. It really helped.

When I watched that video, something on the inside of me just "clicked" and the idea on how to promote my videos just came to me. I definitely would not have 12.4k subscribers had I not watched it. I probably would have had a least 2K from the one video I put on, where RU-vid just sent me thousands of followers and views. Being a little older I've learned in life that I never want to lose myself as I've done PR work in the entertainment industry for many years. I hope you'll think about what content creators experience once their channel starts to become successful. Success doesn't always bring happiness, so I hope more people will be creating content to help others. Because helping others is where I found some of my greatest happiness. Cheers!

Commenting rn after only really seeing the thumb, but I'll mention that its better to think "I'm one video CLOSER" as opposed to "I'm one video AWAY." The latter is an easy way to get burned out and almost accidentally expect to "get rich quick," but its not some get rich quick scheme. Its gonna take a while, and its a slow JOURNEY. Don't expect to put in minimum effort and get paid in a very competitive career.

You're videos are very helpful Im trying to learn but i have 0 experience and my shorts are getting 0 VIEWS like i cant get recognizion i hope i grow in the future even tho i have no idea what im doing

Honestly a quick tip, I had 0 views on all of my shorts for 1 week, but I kept posting, and they eventually got pushed out. Just keep on going

@@MadCelebShade I have a gaming channel, and I had the same issues. First advice is do you really have a passion for making shorts and videos? If so then you will learn to not care bout the views, but improving your craft, and the better you get, the views and everything else will follow. When I look back at my old shorts and the ones I do now I see how far I came by just keeping my head down and working instead of downing myself on views. Next up is, you gotta look at analytics of when people watch. For me if I drop at a certain times, I’ll get significantly less views than the 5pm-12am window. Next up is titled, thumbnail, and tags(key words people generally search to find content related to your video).You need to consistently choose things that will be a catalyst for dialogue or interest. Final tip would be editing style. Voice overs help, animated text helps a lot as well. I still have a small channel but I’ve went from tens of views to now consistently anywhere from 200-1k views and recently I had a video hit 9.5k within the last two days. Some of the videos you think will blow up won’t get as much traction, but keep posting because a lot of times, the ones you least expect are the ones to get you to the next level.
