Also girls, to add to what Chad said about physical beauty / appearance. He's right, the standards aren't nearly so high as you think. Also remember physical beauty, by its very nature is subjective, so just because one guy doesn't find you attractive, doesn't mean that another guy won't think you're literally the most beautiful girl in the entire world. I think too, that the "internal beauty" of character and personality is something that once a guy gets to know you, will cause them to value you because of that, and because of who you are, far and above just your external appearance. I dunno, that's just how I think personally and wanted to throw those out there in a comment in case it encourages any of you ladies out there!

Chad I LOVE what you said about labeling intimidation or things that aren't necessarily attractive as bad straight away. My counselor said something that really resonated with me after meeting with her last about labeling things good/bad and it was, "I think that we (human-beings.. more specifically Christians) can mature emotionally enough to be able to see things not only as black and white or good or bad but just for what they are." We don't HAVE to categorize everything into these two boxes to understand them, and often times doing so actually limits our full understanding of them! Loved this video!

I didn’t even know guys could be intimidated by their girlfriends success/ spouse. But now that I think of it, my ex bf had that problem of pride and envy towards me. He’s a marine and always had to reassure himself out loud(that he’s a marine) to feel ‘good’ enough. I guess that is his title. I am in college (Bio major), but I don’t go around bragging about it to make me feel more than others. You know? It is just sad how things ended bc of how he saw me as competition and not as someone to admire for their success and LOVE them more bc of that. Love is not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

I can think of numerous beautiful things that ask for attention. Children, animals, relationships, our environment, friendships, religion, traditions, all need care and attention. I think there is something so beautiful about someone being so comfortable in their own skin, that they can show off their beauty to the world and let us all enjoy it. I think there is a misconception that people who dress provocatively must be disrespecting themselves or asking for some sort of validation. While that’s sometimes the case, in other cases it comes from pure confidence and accepting of oneself. And that is beautiful. And if it does come from a place of brokenness, that can be beautiful in it’s own way as well. While I understand your perspective, I wanted to share mine as well, since I think it’s important to shift our perspectives that beauty can only come in one shape or form, when it actually exists all around us, sometimes needing attention, and sometimes existing just all on it’s own.
