We all need to ask why this is happening. 1 in 100 Kiwis are currently homeless. We are talking to the men and women on the street to get their perspective. And also to people who work with them and care about them.
My heart goes out to you all..its a shame to see our fellow kiwi's in this sad situation..This is horrific where is the help from higher authorities to help get them back on there feet come on N.Z Government help our own people first!!!😟
Winz gives them around $220 a week and average rent in Auckland is $350 a week for a studio apartment and minimum wage for a 40 hour week around $600 a week after tax, from that you also need to pay power, water and food. Aucklands concrete jungle just isn’t worth it.
Power can be made weekly $10 max. You get accomadation supplement. You can board a room at $160 a week. There's no excuses if you want to make a change they need to stop with wteva sort there shit out! Without work & income they would be alot worse right?

Most of them don't have the appropriate documentation to access such help. Additionally, how "easy" do you think it is for them to access housing? Those who are in a "much better position" than a person who is homeless struggles to navigate such support systems how on earth do you think someone who is homeless is going to navigate it?.... There is no excuse to not educate yourself before you speak down to someone unless you are offering support.
Why not build self-sufficient centres where in order to stay there you have to be clean off alcohol and drugs, they will have an address so they can get work. Build self-sustaining gardens for them to manage and maybe sell at the market also they will have a warm place to sleep and shower. If you go off the rails or you don't have a job in a certain time frame you're out. That will separate who actually wants to do better over those who are drug addicts and lazy. Also, we need Aprentaships back in this country.

Paying winz when you need winz ?????? At most winz offices the case managers treat the beneficiaries like shit. They shouldn't even work there when they don't care about those in need. There's a couple of case managers that are ok tho
its not all maoris its familys the foreners come in and land bank the kiwis wage stayed the same while rents went up,also people are using houses for investments,so they can kick you out whenever 42 days.We have inspections because the house is a investment.What you need i is long time leaseing where your there till you die.and take some land and put up tiny houses ,or rent caravans or theres a prison in auckland abandoned.People can live in 2 cells take the bars off make it a small house a comunity.

1 in a 100 may be close to accurate. This is an issue that desperately needs attention. But this figure does include people in temporary and emergency accommodations. This is not the number of streeties.
That's why we as people Mauri Tu stand up, go back to Maori ways whanau, hapu, iwi and help these people the best we can as individuals. That's all it takes 1 person at a time. And positive thinking as well as movements to change the governments focus. Like Te Puea Marae who stood up to take homeless in when the then National government denied there was a homeless problem. We are not a dying nation we are a suppressed and oppressed one. That needs to stand against oppression, suppression and make a difference no matter how little that is.

Easier said than done. I suggest you take your own advice and change your thoughts about these people and get off your butt and go and help them cause at the end of the day God will be every bodies judge and jury and these are the people he loves the most because they are vulnerable and in need of love, caring and non judgmental opinions from people who dont know anything about anything.
one thing i dislike about the new zealand is how we somehow are known for being a peaceful great place it live when its completely the opposite its probably the worst country i have lived and i believe from my 10 years being in NZ is because of the poverty and unaffordability. NZ also have very high domestic violence, mental health, and most importantly youth suicides and problems are one of if not thee worst in the world. This is now excaerbated current record inflation rates, with house prices completely ridiculously unffordable now, as well petrol, food and low wages. Auckland and wellingto is no longer a safe place to live in general either.

Demographic replacement is the name of game. Simply factoring in immigration numbers and their birthrates vis the native population's birthrates it's clear NZ as we know it will cease to exist in a couple decade's. Without a clear demographic majority pushing the countries cultural identity forward we will see new global orientated identity turning away from the open and tolerant society that made NZ great. White people perpetuate Western culture for the benefit of all that are lucky enough to enjoy this system. There are no solutions in politics only compromises and sacrificing our European majority for growth and GDP figures will be the most grave sacrifice NZ has ever made.

And by the way the landlords are making a mint here in Aotearoa with their sky rocket rents that if there's damage then there gold lines pockets could surely fix the damage. Stayed in lodge, not the one, there was a family samoan running it but it was owned by Chinese, the day we moved we moved in dad of the family goes everybody does there own thing here??????what do mean.....3 weeks later.....oh everybody on drugs and drinking and you don't do shit about it. Tania South You cant say that about all Maoris. Some just cant get out of that cycle. Some need more help than others. The problem wont get fixed overnight. Im not maori im an islander but maybe we are on the lucky ones. Im glad i dont live in NZ anymore but there homlessness in every country. Yeah im annoyed my cousins depend on the benefit for money when theyre perfectly capable to work maybe not fulltime but partime atleast. And it aint a cycle most is choice. I agree...I was a street kid back in 1986 from Wellington. I went back to my dad's place and scored myself a job. Had to go back to my mum's home and did a course. I got off sniffing and cleaned up for myself. I'm so grateful for having good parents that taught me patience and love. Much respect ❤
