The mang0 situation last year was different because (a) qt personally knows him (through ludwig but they've still interacted irl a ton), (b) he dropped kinda last-minute, and (c) he didn't even make an acceptance video for the award. Asmon made a proper video and gave plenty of advance notice he wouldn't be there. Asmon is doing enough for his part.

I think its so funny that one of the biggest moments of both streamer awards for QT and a large part of the reason she did it twice is because of Asmongold, and hes never even been.
The Oscars/Grammy's winners aren't decided by fans/viewers of movies/etc. So i don't see it ever being anywhere close to similar as those imo simply because the actual winners of the Streamer Awards are decided by the fan vote only(unless a nominee tells QT they don't want to be a nominee which QT says has happened).
Asmongold is just the kind of guy who you don't expect to be that aware and mature when regards to other people context and I like that my homeless boy is a nice boy, without having to promote stupid macho agenda
Reminder that it was not long ago that he had the worst take ever thought possible about the Ohio trainwreck and still doubled down on it. He is quite possibly the most out of touch streamer i've ever seen and he is a parasite on youtube.
Kids these days saying "Noone asked for this", they think because they didnt ask for it, it shouldn't exist or something. So weird this generation. Noone cares or asks you what they want, they just do what they want anyway. I dont watch many streamers if any but I still think its cool you managed to plan an entire award ceremony for hundreds of people. That gets my respect any day.
I think there's a portion of hate watching like waiting for the banana peel slip. Also a lot of young kids who are addicted to streamers are watching because it's like their version of the oscars that their parents don't understand. I didn't watch it and I do watch some of the streamers who were represented there. Personally I don't understand why anyone would spend time to watch it, it's everyone you like in an enviroment that doesn't let them do the stuff you like. Thinking that streamers should be viewed anything more than just entertainers is kinda sad, build your own relationships with the time you have.
they are being viewed as entertainers, and entertainers for everything else go to awards shows. i think a lot of them appreciate being recognized even on a small scale like this, because entertaining strangers live for hours every day is work as much as some people like to pretend it's easy. nobody says you have to watch it, and saying "build relationships with the time you have" is no different than me telling a football fan "why watch, go play it instead".
Exactly, I don't watch the oscars either and that is on a grander scale. In fact the oscars have been going down in viewership because people find it boring. Its just a circle jerk, why would I watch it? And this is despite the fact I might watch some of the movies they come in. The same applies with this. Just cause I watch the streamer doesn't mean I would particularly care about watching some award show. Its boring. Pretty sure the winners aren't even cast by the people but rather decided amongst themselves which makes the whole event kind of rigged and meaningless to be honest. At the end of the day its just an event to throw your weight around and make connections, not an event for us viewers.
