@@maximecaron2766 1 liter of soda is about 400 calories, it's like a pretty small meal, it's really not that much. soda only makes you fat when it's in addition to everything else. And he probably drinks less than 1 liter. it's all about quantities, if his daily diet is one fast food meal(like 600-800cal) + one small meal with a tiny steak(400cal max) + soda(400cal max), he's probably not even reaching 2k calories. Also he's like 6'2 or 6'3 so he needs a lot more calorie than an average sized person. Also asmon has gained a lot of weight the past few years, he's like +50lbs compared to like 4 years ago so it's starting to catch up to him. Look up photos of him from like 5 years ago he used to be a sekeleton, now he's pretty average for a tall person
@@Titi-pu2hl I feel it's likely that he unconsciously trained himself to not like much food or being full, since he said he grew up poor (but it can happen to anyone); since I feel how you eat in your childhood can train your brain to be a "skinny person" brain or a "fat person" brain. If you talk to or are a fat or skinny person, one thing is clear; fat people love feeling full and stuffed with food, while skinny people find it uncomfortable to be full.
This video should really highlight the importance of exposing your children to textures and flavors while they're young and protecting them from ultra palatable modern foods.

Most important is to avoid those ultra-palatable snacks. Like you say, super tasty, salty/sugary, artificially flavored, but also perfectly textured foods. If it has a weird mouthfeel and you're not used to that, it's just as off putting.
My parents forced me to eat anything that's on the table (obviously) and therefore forced me to eat lots of different foods at a young age. They would do this over and over again until eventually I started liking them🤷♀ The only food I just can't get used to or enjoy is asparagus and beans👹👹

To be fair, when Pineapples were first discovered by Europeans they were brought across as curiosities and were sold at ultra-expensive prices for noble and gentry families to show off and display. many had pineapples planted in their greenhouses, others displayed them on plythns to show off to their rich buddies, and others ate them at fancy dinners. Indeed, on many country manors and estates in Europe, you can see statues of pineapples on gates, on walls, and in gardens from that time and as traditional decoration still used today. Ironically though I think because pineapples are SOOO Sweet, Asmongold might actually like it.
I mean I would peel them all as well, but I just can't be bothered and eat the skin anyway and much of the nutrients are in the skin as well. But grapes taste better without the skin and so does apples and pears, you just eat it anyway because who can be bothered peeling that shit.
What I will say about fruit is when I started eating at least one fruit a day on average I stopped having dental issues after age 18, I haven't had to go to the dentist in 12 years. In fact I only have to brush my teeth about once every 1-2 months, usually when I switch my diet a little and don't eat enough fruit. My gums are even more healthy and tight only needing to floss every 2-3 months, usually when I eat some extra tough meat or lots of corn/popcorn. My guess is fruit acids and phytonutrients helps maintain an extremely good balance of bacteria in the mouth. If you suffer from bad breath, eat an apple a day instead of using mouth wash.

He reminds me of one of my favorite fictional characters, Rancid Crabtree from Patrick McManus's short stories of his youth. He was an old man who lived in a shack on top of a mountian and never worked, never bathed, never ate healthy foods and yet had never been sick in his life. It's really the intensity of the fruit. The stuff Asmond normally has is Super overloaded with sugars and acids and stuff, so of course anything else to the pallete is just gonna express the weak, bland, and bitter, parts of the fruits, cause the pallete has already been so desensitized to the sweets and sours and such.
I am more surprised about his problem with the textures of the fruits! (and that he disliked a nectarine, never seen anybondy not liking the taste of nectarines before) There was a study some time ago that people like food better if it incorporates more than one texture in one bite. A prime example would be a cake. With the dough, filling, maybe fruit and a topping and maybe even with whipped cream. Even a lot of sweets tend to have different textures in one bite. Fried food that was dunked in some dough before...
I think this is the reason people hate Lacroix so much as well... When you're on a diet of more mild, subtle flavors and you cut out junk food and large amounts of sugary fruits, lacroix and other sparkling water taste just as strong as regular soda

I find slightly unrippened bananas (just tiny bit of green near the stem) to taste better and have a better texture (not so mushy, albeit I’ll eat it either way just prefer them slightly unripe). The best blackberries are the ones with hella reddish spots, don’t recall if that’s from being unripe or what but the sour taste of them is superior to me than a fully sweet/ripened black berry. The only fruit that genuinely is inedible when unripe is avacado. Shxt is like rubber
I don't think he's acting he's even getting red having to swallow and chew on some of these fruits. He's a very picky eater for sure, maybe even a supertaster they are known for having problems with many different foods because they taste them much more intensely than normal people do. Out of all of the fruits there I would say Cantaloupe is the worst by far, they should have bought him some honey melon instead.

Yea the fruit wouldnt taste sweet at all after drinking fizzy. Fruit sweetness by itself is really nice but if you drink fizzy first it will taste like shit in comparison.

Here's the thing tho... the more regularly you eat fast food, the less it affects you in that way. The reason for it (I think) is mostly due to it being WAY more sodium than your body is used to consuming at one time, so your system rejects the food... hence you feeling sick afterward. I used to eat fast food semi-regularly and it didn't really affect me much after I got used to it; but before and since then, I can't eat fast food without feeling sick for the rest of the day.

The main difference is I actually buy fruits and veggies so my cart isn't full of only junk food. Then they all go bad and I throw them away. Buying them doesn't make me want to eat them.

But I shudder at strong berry flavors like raspberry, blueberry and blackberry. As a matter of fact, my own fruit tier list is virtually identical to Asmon's, which shocked me, because I've never heard of anyone with the same strange taste I have in fruits, before. Now I'm thinking maybe people can have some rare genetic mutation in their taste buds that causes it, similar to the way some people like cilantro and others think it tastes like soap.

I can say from personal experience. When you cut down the sugar on your diet to a 0%. You can taste more the sweets on different fruits and veggies. Sometimes cooked onions feel like candy when I eat them. You can taste the developed sugar in a good coffee. Hard recommend that to everybody.
I don't think that's the issue here. Just after a couple of hours your tastebuds will already be kinda reset. It's more like the artificial flavor. He's never had anything else then concentrated artificial flavor before, so everything natural feels dull and weird to him. For instance: Artificial strawberry flavor doesn't taste anything like real strawberries and a lot of people don't like them because of it, that's why it's often times used over natural flavor in industrial products. Simply because our brains are tricked into thinking the artificial flavor is the correct one. You're right though, generally. If you cut down on salts and sugars, your food will taste better in the long run, simply because you'll need less of it.

4:40 Emi is spot on. Asmon has 0 point of reference. I remember I had a horrible diet when I was younger and feeling sluggish and slow was 'normal'. It wasn't until I had a better diet that I felt like I had so much more energy and stamina. Asmon doesn't know what its like feeling better cause how he feels now is normal to him.

Asmon's taste buds have become so accustomed to sweet and salty, that everything else seems 'wrong.' Put some salt on that watermelon and see what he thinks. Give him a little bowl of simple syrup to dip fruit pieces in, and he might like many of these better than the 'naked' versions. He might like strawberries with whipped cream, for example. Avocado is an acquired taste for most everyone; it requires repeated exposure. Bravo to all of you for the courageous experiments!

Yeah that's likely the origin of his dislike for fruit never really growing up with it. His dad did say his mom fed him frozen strawberries when he was a baby but maybe as he grew older he was no longer introduced to fruits.

I just had raspberries for the first time in the past year and I REALLY don't like them. They appear to be the one artificial flavor that they nailed EXACTLY, and that was really off putting to me. It's like they're just candy and not a real fruit.

Funny enough, way back in history when pineapples were new to Europe, you could *rent* pineapples to look at them as centerpiece of a table decoration if you couldn't afford to actually buy a pineapple to serve to your guests (which was considerably expensive.)
You can trick him into thinking avocado is ice cream by mushing it and adding powdered milk and sugar. Mushing it until it is very fine and then placing it in the freezer.
Since he likes lemons maybe get some really sour fruits like limes and grapefruits. Cranberries, gooseberries and green mangos he would probably like way more. He might be, but for me it was with vegetables for years because of a unhealthy diet, I had gag reflex trying to tasting them. After I stopped eating like garbage every day, and went back to a normal diet my gag reflex for vegetables also went away. Now I can eat them again.
