Started gardening with my daughters and we document our progress on a tiny Instagram page. It’s been the most therapeutic thing for us. With one of my daughters having some health issues, it’s been so wonderful having our garden together 🌿🤍 Can’t wait to watch and relax! Thank you Ms. Emma! 🌻

It's a common misconception that adding rocks or a layer of porous material to the bottom of a pot will help with drainage. It's a myth, I'm sorry. The best way to have good drainage is to have an evenly mixed substrate and a drainage hole. If there is no drainage hole it's best to find a nursery pot that fits in the container so you can just take the plant out to water or dump excess water. It's not a serious mistake, especially if you don't struggle with over watering, but for some plants it's not going to end well. I just sincerely hope this helps someone.

Its to prevent root rot by not allowing water to pool at the bottom. Its better to put the pot with holes on top of rocks, not the rocks inside the pot though.

My grandma has had one of the vine looking plants for almost 20 years now! He lives on her washer and in the spring and summer he gets put on an outdoor schedule. She trims it back every so often. It's practically a part of the family!

The second one is a philodendron red Congo :) I have one and it’s my favorite plant! Tolerates low light really well and can get super big!
