I spoke highly of Aspen 2 last time and I continue to have good success. The reason is different than you, there is no motor fuel refinery near me and fuel is imported from outside the country so it could be our motor fuel is really low quality. Good on you that you are able to get high quality fuel from your pumps. I have only run Stihl Motor mix and Aspen 2 for three years now in all Stihl equipment and none has needed adjustment or servicing. I am in Canada.
have a titian strimmer from screw fix new for 3 years no problems with aspen from new, starts 2 pull , the orange aspen is comes pre mix 50 to 1 my titan is 40 to 1 . so for every 1 litre I put in off aspen, I put an extra 5ml of 2 stroke in also ,(bought a 10ml plastic syringe of ebay ) , I find can leave it the garage and it will start no problems 2 month later . I not a pro gardener . it is expensive thoe but the machines starts up 1st time on 2nd pull, not bad for a titan good luck for the future love the channel
Good to hear your opinion Mike, people will debate this over and over. I only use Aspen 2 in machines like hand held hedgecutters or Aspen fuel to keep in machines over winter . Too pricey for day to day use imo.
I looked into Aspen 2 - but decided it was too expensive for the use, plus as you say not really saving the planet with extra plastic floating around. Great video again Mike 👍
Ultimately this is for domestic users who get the 2-stroke strimmer out once a year and want it to start first time, or put the lawnmower away over winter without having to drain the fuel or clean the carb. The product was originally formulated due to the large number of Swedish lumberjacks developing cancer from the benzene and solvents in pump petrol, which Alkylate fuels don't contain. When E10 is commonplace at the pumps, it has a two week shelf life so this product will be more popular.
I've just finished my second season on aspen with no issues, I used to suffer with a bad head and quite wheezy at the end of the day and I've been a lot better since using aspen, however since this fuel has been around since the 80s I cannot see the reason for the astronomical price and I would never use it in my mower, I did work out the cost per job using this in my strimmer blower and hedge cutters, in my strimmer it would cost me 15p more to do the same job so 5p to strim round became 20p per job. I pay £18.49 for one but if I buy two or more you get 10% off however I do understand that it's not for you as it works for some and not others....mixing aspen 4 with oil should only be fully synthetic as that is what is in aspen 2 ....anyway now I've bored the s😂😂t out of you I'm off lol👍
I used aspen 2 in my garden equipment and nothing would run right even with tuning them up a little. So I moved to Stihl MotoMix in my 2 strokes and Stihl Moto4Plus in the 4 strokes. And now they run perfectly and it smells nice as well.
My dealer promotes aspen as being good for equipment and the tools will last longer. But put it in a blower and the cost of using it it would be cheaper renewing the machine more often than spending the money on aspen and using normal mix.
i have to say aspen 2 is the best fuel i have ever used for my sthil ts 410 cut off saw no more starting problems and no more stinking fumes superb product and for 20 quid is not a lot pay in my opinion .
I have been using Aspen 2, It seems to last a fair bit longer than pump fuel, runs great in the machine and doesn't smell horrible and pungent like pump fuel mixed with 2stroke oil.
Great video and comments. I haven't tried Aspen but you've confirmed what I already suspected. Based on the price and your experience I don't think I'll be buying it any time soon! 😄 Cheers! 👍
@@lincsfencingandgardeningse9128 I enjoy saving money even more though, and my Stihl kombi is running well on regular oil and petrol mix so no need for me to experiment with Aspen! 😁 After reading other comments though I have decided to try adding Sta-bil fuel stabiliser this winter. Will see how that goes. Cheers!
I've moved to stihl electric hand tools this year, I'm sure that would be cheaper than aspen!! They are so much nicer, quieter and obviously no fumes. I'd seriously consider it over this if I were you!
Good point. I'm currently running a Stihl 130R petrol kombi and love it. Having always used petrol tools I'm still a little sceptical about the power, battery life and price of cordless stuff. However, I believe all of my Stihl kombi attachments are compatible with the electric power head as well, so I could easily make the switch in the future if I change my mind! 😅
totally agree mate, apsen is good for larger companies who want to make sure thier minions mix properly. I guess its better for your own health, but as for the environment the only way to go truly green would be to walk and use hand made tools. I am not in no way knocking it, but when you start looking at the pros and cons there isnt much in it apart from price. IMHO
@@kyndrydspyryt3867 generally I mix 2 stoke in a 5L can, and don't use anything else, I now however have EGO battery equipment, and so far this year have not used petrol hand tools.
hi, I started to use aspen as well om my new 2021 KTM 300 TPI, interesting that you say it consumes more than regular gas, i am not in the position to check since I ran Aspen from start on the bike.
Rather run 5litre stihl fuel tank with the 100ml stihl shot for my 5 litre mix at 50.1 Never had any problems, wouldnt pay the money for aspen2. The amount of money i would spend on aspen in a season would be the price of a new piece of machinery anyway.
Yeah if your a pro and using your engines all the time pump fuel will be fine tbh. The issue with pump fuel is when it's left in carburettors too often it seems to breakdown and corrode the components. If you have a tool you dont use much aspen fuel will be much more reliable as its very stable and does not have ethanol in it.
I've never tried it . Have no reason to try it never had any issues with petrol out the pump. I think if your turning and burning fuel I don't see any bennifits to use it . I've had a strimmer sat for 2 years and it fired straight up with out any issues. So unless I start to have problems I will not be using this .. as of today 15.10.2023 the price for a 5litre aspen 2 is £32.99 .. 5 litres of fuel is £7.45
