Hello from 2024! I'd like to express my sincere gratitude for his video! I suppose the foundation of the win in this freaking game lies in the first moves made by the players. I tried for about 10 times until the NPC (Timothy) made exactly the same first 3-4 moves. After that, I had a good positioning and a good amount of caps while Timothy remained only 1 cap so I just needed to block it in the upper-right corner of the board. So there is an advice for future players: remember the first 3-4 moves (both yours and your opponent's) and try again and again until NPC start acting just as in the video. Thanks Joseph, you saved me a lot of time and nerves!
I just finally won this way too. At the end I had 6 pieces and he had 1 and I was still worried we'd somehow end in a draw (since that was what always happened before using this video).
Sorry to hear that. This video wasn't exactly posted to be a guide to follow these exact steps to beat him,, more like me posting my achievement of beating him. I really doubt you can try and copy the moves in any video on here, as the ai player can and usually will, make different moves. I had to lose alot of games to understand the rules. I'd question his moves, and understand why he moved away from me, etc. The hardest part of the game is when he has only a few pieces left. I lost alot of games, but once I figured out how to play, and I guess with a bit of luck, he was beatable. I tried to copy moves from video, too. Even tried to mirror the moves from an app. Honestly it was easier to just learn how to play, rather than chance my luck he makes the same moves in a video. Learn how to play and come back. Dont give up. Its not impossible. Instead of getting frustrated, turn that to a learning experience. Thats what I did.
It took me at least 100 games (losses) before I learmed the game, and understood how to move. I learned by questioning his moves. Why did he move away from me? Moving (not vertical, but sideways) seemed to chase him away more, while also trying to keep a two-space difference. If you move up and he moves up to meet you, he csn take all your pieces in that row and then combo moves, and take out half your board. The rules are very strange and were odd to understand. I kinda learned it/winged it. I have a srmi idea of what to do. I'd want to play it again and see if i can still beat him. If I had software and knew how to make videos, I'd live to mke a how-to guide and review my game and analyze each move. Seems like all other guides on here are so vague. And that mirroring cheese method with an app, its not accurate. If he makes a move not what the app did and if you dont know how to play, you'll just be guessing. Better off being strong and knowing how to play. You'll have much better odds of winning. I'm all for cheesing if applicable. I cheesed Nine Men's Morris. But this, cheesing it seemed harder so i just learned to play legit

@@mutcoo lol i guess its a useless talent to have. Not like we will ever be competing in real life league tornaments. But it was kinda cool to pick up on an ancient game and learn it the proper way and have a legit win on it. I'm all for cheesing but I found cheesing this to be harder cuz the ai can move in so many different moves. Some people copied my moved and it worked for them. That is very cool but it's also very rare if he makes the same identical moves he makes in this video. You really need to flank him and corner him like I did so he is screwed. Have spare pieces laying around that you can use to "waste" a move, forcing him to do something. And he will either move towards you or away. If he moves towards you, you can probably move back a square and take his piece. Its like a mix of playing aggressively and defensively.

Trying to go for the Plat and every time I follow this, I do the first three moves correctly then Achilles does some crazy stuff that gets rid of my half board and I can’t do nothing 🤦♂️

Just wondering, I 100%'d this game a few years ago so I can't remember, but do you HAVE to win the expert version of this mini game? Aren't there different difficulties of it around the homestead. Is the trophy not 'win one of each game on the homestead'? so can't you play it somewhere else where it's easier and win that?
"All three games must be won on the Homestead. You must initiate and win each of the three games outside of a mission for it to count towards the trophy." It's in the description for the "Original Gamer" trophy on every guide.
Unfortunately the AI does not use the same moves every time, so I still get trashed. Not going to waste more time on this, things like this only belong in games when they are fun and winneable, like the card game in Witcher III. This is just annoying and frustrating. Pity.
I don't get it. I've won a Fanorona, a Morris and a Bowls game but I still haven't gotten the trophy. I've won two Bowls games, two Morris games and one Fanorona game. What else am I supposed to do?
You did those games at the Homestead ? They gotta be there cuz it's the hardest difficulty. This game was kinda buggy, to be honest. Didn't have trouble with trophies popping but certain things weren't spawning on the map and I'd have to watch videos and run up and find the courier in one of the towns cuz tbe icom wasn't there on the mall, more than one time
@@josephbiondi8427 Nah mate, I just had to win the bowls game against the two brothers in the middle of the map. I actually beat Fanorona and Morris again thanks to vids like this Morris wasn't difficult at all though there were many permutations in Fanorona bc the nerds in Ubisoft thought it'd be funny to make it even more difficult, adding more permutations in the remastered version. Though I managed to beat it thanks to a brilliant comment in one of these vids. It just told me to corner the opponent's pieces and then take them out. If I hadn't stumbled upon that solution I'd still be trying to beat it today I reckon 😂
@@AJK1DD I remember having trouble with Bowls each time I played it, especially against George Washington, cuz I needed to hear all his dialogue. So those few Bowls games took a while. And Fanorana took days, like 3 full days of constant defeats til I finally learned what to do.
@@josephbiondi8427 Fanorona was more difficult for me bc it took me the same amount oftime as it did for you. Just fucking impossible mate. Those fucking non-wife or gf having nerds over at Ubisoft probably thought they had struck gold with these shitty little games. It really pissed me off while I was playing the game. Bowls against Washington was annoying but it didn't take me too long. I beat him the sixth time I think bc by then I had played bowls a lot and I knew how to play really well. I always played second and I focused on throwing my balls on top of the opponents and making sure mine were closer to the smaller ball. Hey, at least the dialogue with Washington was interesting wasn't it? 😂
PRO TIP: Download a Fanorona game on your phone, put the IA on the highest difficult, choose the white side and then in the game (AC3) you just dont start, let the IA start, so in the Fanorona mobile you copy every move of the AC3 and in AC3 you copy every move of the mobile game. Did it in the first attempt this way.

Holy shit, wow. Thank you. That made my day. I'm no expert. I lost a bunch of times but instead of getting frustrated, I learned & studied from my mistakes and understood the game (for the most part) and its rules. Id study his moves and ask myself "why did he do that" or "why did he move away from me" this was all I needed for the plat as well. It took me a few days of grinding & learning. I beat it legit. No mirroring the moves of an app or anything. I am so glad my little achievement video helped inspire others to play. Never thought my "strategy" here would break the game and help others to beat him too. Thank you so much 😇

Its been about 2 years since I played this. I'm not sure if I remember exactly how to play it, I still have an idea I guess. It'd be easier for me to just play for you via Shareplay rather than tell you what moves. I wouldn't mind giving it a shot. Cant promise a victory though.

It's possible you can get lucky copying this or any video, you can still win as long as the ai makes the exact same move as the video. But I found it'll actually be alot easier to learn how to play the game (self taught) and I beat him effortlessly. I studied his moves and asked myself why he went forward or backward or diagonal, and I learned that way. Through many mistakes.
Dude this isnt a guide or a means to mirror my moves. The ai will make different moves than in the video most of the time. You have a slight chance he will make the same moves but its a long shot. I tried to cheat too and it took too long that way. Its alot easier to learn how to play the game. Its actually not that hard once you get the hang of it. Watch my video but dont try and copy it. Study my moves and realize Why I made those moves. I lost alot of games but I didnt let the frustration get the better of me. Each loss was a learning experience.

The game broke on me tho on the delivery requests being stuck on 66% so I can’t get all the achievements haha. It Was literally the last thing I had to finish. Kinda getting irritated by the dislikes or negative comments, all by people looking for a shortcut. You have a rare chance at copyingy moves or anyones moves in a y video because the ai can, and most likely will, make different moves. And then what? If you dont know how to play, you're f****d. Thats why I suggest to everyone you learn how to play the game. This cant really be cheesed. Not easily at least. It may take longer to try and cheese your victory, where if you just knew how to play the game, you can beat this in 7 minutes like in my video. Also there is no time limit so you can take all the time you want to plan out your moves. But I still get people coming here looking for a shortcut. All the dislikes must be from people who tried to cheat by copying my video, when I made it abundantly clear this is Not a how-to guide, nor can it be cheesed. Its a very very small chance he will make the same counters. And if he don't, youre screwed. Its much easier to learm how to play so you can counter his moves. I tried to cheat too and that shit took too long and was too hard. Learning how to play was alot easier and faster. With each loss, i learned something. And as with anything in life, a game or whatever, any loss should be a learning experience. But cheers to your victory. Its no easy task. and out of all the AC games, not counting Valhalla (yet) or Chronicles, this was The hardest to platinum. Because of the optional objectives you must do in one go, not stackable like other AC games, and then these little board games, not to mention all the bugs that are in the game. But there's wsys around that. As I didnt let anything stop me from getting this plat. And what better time to do it than the beginning of the pandemic lol
The AI plays like a settler that has been playing these games since childhood. I play like someone who has never played or heard of them. Ubisoft expecting players to learn obscure strategy games from the ground up just for a challenge is frustrating. I admire folks like you who keep a level-head and learn from every loss, I am not so measured. This is going to be a miserable process to get through.
@@danielflanard8274 I did it during the pandemic/lockdown. I spent 3 full days learning this. Instead of getting frustrated, which is easier said than done. I learned from my mistakes and why I lost, or how did I take so many if his pieces on a lucky move or why did he take so many of my pieces. I had unlimited amounts of time to learn this. As for platinums, if you have unlimited amounts of time and patience, any platinum is obtainable. If you through enough crap against the wall, some of it will eventually stick. It is a maddening, repetitive cycle. It's easier to learn how to play this game cuz once you figure it out, it's easier than it looks. And it's very rewarding once you do win. You'll never need to play this ever again.

Amazing video - perplexed for several hours while using every other video for help, being 8-2 up etc & still losing 🤯. Although the AI didn’t use the same manoeuvres as this video - the go first and first few moves puts you in the best start possible and remember you don’t have to take the extra movement as often will leave you exposed for a massacre 😭. After watching this video I completed it 2nd go (first time was bc I clearly messed up - tears were blurring my eyes) P.s. I never normally leave compliments but next to my child’s birth & 15000ft sky dive - BEST feeling I’ve ever had 5️⃣⭐️
Wow thank you. This is probably the best compliment I have received yet on this video. Although this wasnt an instructional guide or a cheese method, simply just my victory, cuz for me too it was an amazing feeling to have beaten this. You cant exactly copy/mirror moves from a video, as the ai can and usually will make different opposing moves leaving you clueless. For me, the easiest way to beat this was to learn how to play the game. It took me days, probably a hundred losses or so. Instead of getting frustrated, (which I was) I used it as a learning experience. I learned from my mistakes and questioned his moves, whether it be moving towards me or away from me. After awhile I kinda got the hang of it. This was my only victory at this game. I probably would and should make an instructional guide on how to play. I'm all for cheating too, but for me, cheating was harder than just learning the game. Learning how to fight so I'll be prepared for whatever happens. Its been 6+ months since I last played this. I'm not sure if I remember how to play lol. I'm really glad my video helped you. Most of these comments have been wonderful to read. This was just my victory, I never expected it to help any one. Thing is the AI is too smart, on all difficulties it never one does a mistake. I saw a reddit post about someone cloning the AI and putting the versus together, they're still playing after 8 years. It's a stupid poorly designed infinity game. Unless you get the EXACT right move and the AIs picks the EXACT opening that forces it into a certain play you're utterly screwed, nothing you can do to win.
I sucked at this game, too. I spent days losing a lot , but learning from my mistakes. I studied his moves, why he moved forward or away, and the consequences. And winged it from there. Rather than get frustrated from losing, learn from those mistakes and understand them. Easier said than done, I know. I did this during lockdown in the beginning of the pandemic and I had a ton of time to waste here lol
i hate this fucking trophy so much. everytime im winning the ai will end up getting 4 turns back to back and i rarely get more than 1 its so aggrivating
I mostly had to wing it after move 3 couldn’t get him to do what he was meant to but I got it eventually using those first 3 moves each time, thanks for the help. 😤👍
I watched a video on six man Morris bc it was driving me crazy and the dude said fanorona was the hardest one so I came to watch this before I played, and I ended up beating the guy first try :|
@@wrightroenigk I'm just tired of reading nasty comments on here from people trying to copy my moves, and bitter when it don't work out. You can't really cheat this game. There is a slim chance you can copy my moves and the computer will play along. Some people got lucky using this video, others didn't. It wasn't posted to be a "how to" guide. It says so in the description. I purposely wrote that cuz I am tired of reading hateful comments.
😂well, Valhalla isnt much better, as far as glitches, actually. And Unity crashed on me two or three times during the last mission. But yeah, these homestead board games are a real obstacle for players to obtain the plat. I dont agree with it either as a mandatory requirement. Although, on the bright side, being that this is the remastered version, there's no bullshit multiplayer you gotta do, and hope to find active lobbies. If it wasnt for multiplayer, Black Flag would be perfect. Still may be my favorite of the series. I liked them all, just some alot more than others. It took me two days to figure out this game. It is frustrating, I know. But instead of being angry and clouding my judgement with frustration, I looked at things differently. Like ok, why did I lose? Why did he make that move (either away from me or towards me) the rules are weird. By the time I got to this, I kinda knew what I was doing. This was my only victory at this game. I cheesed Nine Men's Morris, and Bowls was a bitch. Not to mention also having to play Bowls against Washington, just for the extra dialogue in order to 100%. As annoying as Fanorana was, I think those underground tunnels were the biggest waste of time and clutter in any AC game. At least if there was treasure down there. They were pointless and I never used them. Also I gotta say the optional objectives here are the hardest in any AC game, as they dont stack. You have to get it perfect in one attempt. Ill try to get them done as I'm playing the new missions, but if I fail, I'll keep going and just replay whichever incomplete missions at the end. The courrier missions were so bugged, too. Very frustrating & annoying game. Could have been awesome if not for all the bullshit

@@alfie_met8136 it took me a few full days. Its quite boring. You gotta do 1 game of each type but after that, you can get all the other trophies in the Wolfpack round, which you can do solo. Aim for the challenges, like playing on certain maps or playing as certain characters for that extra xp boost. Its gonna be boring after a little while so prepare yourself. Listen to music or somethin so you don't lose your mind.
@@alfie_met8136 yeah unfortunately you have to do alot of bullshit to 100%. The naval missions and their optional objectives were no joke. Either whatever they were (not taking damage, or beating all the ships under a time constraint -- cant remember) but no fun. Youll have to find Washington, i think you meet him in Sequence 8 if I remember correctly. I think you can load up a mission which he is in, or when you first meet him. And talk to him and get him to say all his dialogue. And you will have to play a game of Bowls with him. Ill assume you have to win in order for it to count (just to be safe) Try and find a good video of a tour guide showing you the tunnels. The video I watched, i followed step by step, and even hs got lost, so it was like blind leading the blind, but he finds his way and gets it done. You can always play these videos on half or quarter speed so you dont get lost. That tunnel shit is really confusing and you can get lost easily. That shit was boring too. And you gotta do a bunch of it in NY and Boston. Itll take a while. Im not even so sure the plat is worth it in all honestly. You really gotta do alot of bullshit for it. Alot of tedious pain in the ass tasks. The hunting challenges were ok I guess. Just gotta identify them. One big time waste was updating your journal at the homestead, where you have to observe everyone there working and doing different tasks. Thats gonna take a while too. (Boring!) Youll be running around the homestead in eagle vision observing them. I think if theyre yellow, that means theyre doing something new and that activity hasnt been scanned. Its been a while, i could be wrong. I think i remember Red being a color, too. You have to do all side quests for everyone in the homestead and reach max level with everyone there and then you gotta do a bunch of crafting for some courrier missions. So thats why you need to be leveled up at the homestead. Youll need certain wood or materials to craft items, which you have to give to someone. And some of those are bugged, too. Not all the courrier missions have the Letter or Package icon above the character you have to see. Again, another video is necessary to find Waldo. Once you approach them, the icon will appear above their head. If you can tolerate the bugs and tedious shit and pain in the ass optional objectives, you can do it. Its just very time consuming. Its entirely up to you if you feel if its worth it or not. I did it back when the virus started. Since I had all the time in the world to do this.

@@spoodurmin9742 probably for the best you beat him. I kinda remember how to play, but I'm rusty as hell, and may need to practice or freshen up, if I were to play it for someone. Probably wont get it on the first attempt. I think I did this about 6 months ago, and after I finished the dlc's and got platinum, I deleted the game. Might have been the hardest plat I earned as of now. Im not exactly a trophy hunter but I do like to go for them most of the time, as long as they're reasonable. I love AC so I'll go for all of them. Most of those Gta games or Red Dead are just too much to bother with.

How many times do I have to point out everywhere THIS IS NOT A GUIDE. YOU CANNOT COPY MOVES FROM ANY VIDEO, AS HE WILL MOST LIKELY NOT MAKE THE SAME MOVES IN YOUR GAME? There's a tiny chance it can work but it'll take you a lot longer to try and cheat vs learning the game and playing for real. So if he makes a different move, you'll know what to do and understand why you lost. That's the only way I won, by losing a lot and learning from my mistakes
I could give it a shot. I haven't played since I posted this video. I'd need to watch this again and try to remember how to play. I may not get it done on the first shot. I cant guarantee ill win. I was really "in the zone" last year and really focused and committed. But I'm willing to try at least
@@SonGokuuuuuuu congrats! yea no worries. I was serious about giving it a shot. It took me days, full days, of non stop grinding and losing a lot of games, which is how I "taught" myself how to play. I had all the time in the world last April when I got the plat, due to the lockdown. Save your video! That is quite the trophy/achievement to be proud of!
@@Abo3aBD229 no But there are videos out there you can easily copy exaxtly what the Nine Men's Morris video shows. Like that you cant mess up. You can easily cheese that one. I watched a video on it too 😎it is flawless. Easier than Six Men's Morris
I swear this game was invented on Madagascar to tor*ure the colonials or idk. Because it makes no sense. The game doesnt give you a proper instructions and no matter WHAT I DO. He keeps winning 🤦🏻♀️
Wow really? From following my video?? I think I got lucky lol. I lost countless times, but I learned fromy mistakes and really studied the end game. When he has a few pieces left, he's most dangerous. Glad my video helped someone 😊I posted it cuz it felt like a major victory for me lol
