I feel that the RPG games have been chasing Witcher 3's tail. Odyssey with it's use of dialogue choices and romance options clearly wanted to try what Witcher 3 did in those respects. Valhalla did better with dialogue choices since they didn't beat you over the head with how often you were given dialogue choices. Origins may also be considered an RPG game, but it's a smaller scaled one, and a perfect size. I'd rather have a game that only has year of post-game content than 3-6 years. Valhalla went overboard with it's content. Wrath of the Druids and Siege of Paris were enough major DLC. Dawn of Ragnarok wasn't necessary, and just made an already long game even longer. So I would rather they go back to the scale of Origins with their RPGs, take out dialogue choices completely, same with romance options. But go back to Memory Sequences and Memories with Memory Replay as well.
The RPG games are inspired by the Witcher but I wouldn't say they are completely chasing the Witcher 3's tail. All three offer different experiences, with Origins being the best of the three easily. Odyssey and Valhalla may have their own shortcomings, but both are genuinely fun to play at times. Any time any game does good, and another game comes out looking and playing somewhat similar, everyone is so quick to say, hey its trying to copy that great game. Mind you, Origins was already being working on before Witcher 3 came out. Also, Assassin's Creed needed to change badly and it delivered.
@ac_nerd9794 Assassins Creed became a receptacle of everything popular in western RPGS, which then killed the games identity, the dialogue choices make no sense, since you're living a memory, choosing dialogue should cause a desync. Assassins Creed Mirage is a return to form for the Series, not every game needs to be a bloated open world with padding, box ticking objectives with pointless fetch Quests, that doesn't respect the players time. I'm glad after Red, they're not making RPGS anymore.
@@wodensthrone5215 We actually don't know if they are ever going to make another RPG game. I'm not a fan of dialogue choices, but a good explanation I heard is that the animus shows you the options or what the protagonist was thinking every time you have an option. I'm not a fan of it. Origins is an amazing game. I'd take it over every other AC game. AC was already becoming a mess, and the series needed a a revival somewhat. I don't think every game needs to be bloated either, but all three games have memorable side quests. Odyssey had the Minotaur side quests. Origins has some of the best in the series, as we see Bayek just taking time out of his days to help citizens. I would have loved Odyssey and Valhalla a lot more if they were like Origins more, but they aren't and I can't help that. I'm thoroughly excited for Mirage, but I'd love if they would just make different types of games. Hexe is said to be completely different from the traditional/classic games and the RPG games. Are you also going to hate on it because it's not like the older games? The franchise hasn't been the best in recent years, but it's better than what it was in 2015.
@@ac_nerd9794 Odyssey shouldn't have even been made to begin with, nothing screams Assassins Creed, like being a spartan, fighting minotaur, Medusa and other creatures, the cult of cosmos makes no sense, you don't even get to the order of the Ancients until the DLC, the protagonist isn't even an Assassin, there's no hidden blade, no social stealth, Odyssey is just a bizarre game. Valhalla at least tried to implement more Assassins Creed mechanics, even if half the time, they sucked. I'll give Origins a pass because it's a Origins story, leading up to the hidden ones and the order.
There's still quite a lot of time till we have a formal reveal so we'll see how much of this is actually going to be true - honestly, I'd love to play as a female ninja assassin, with a proper stealth gameplay with innovations and the like!
@@AccessAnimusme too theres only two female assasins wich one was in a small game And the other one was a second character wich had less play time then Jacob id also like to see a game where you play as shao jun
Omg...my first MEMBER early access video!!! Red has a really intriguing premise with some promising stealth and technical improvements, I'm just worried about how exhausting it will be to keep up with what will likely be a three year post launch at the minimum. But that's very far down the line so I'll see if the base experience even appeals to me in the first place
OMG!! Yeah, I feel exactly the same, if they're already mentioning now that they want to support the game for a longer period of time, then it's probably going SO very long... I just hope there are going to be actual improvements towards stealth, detection and the like, as the various rumors seem to imply
I have completed every 3D AC in order. Odyssey is the perfection of AC. We need more systems like that. Valhalla was a bit half assed about RPG. The sales prove that RPG AC is the majority. The loud minority prefers Ezio saga.
RPG in the style of Origins, big yes since that's one of my fave AC games of all time. It was the perfect blend of freedom and narration. And it also feels like an AC. But I'd hate if they leaned too heavy on the Odyssey and Valhalla style. They are both to far removed from the feel of AC.
If there’s going to be two protagonists for AC Red, I’m hoping it ends up being a case where each protagonist has their own story until their paths cross and from there, if the player wants to, they can choose which of the two they go forward with, whether that’s another case of Bayek and says, but with each having their own story to tell. It could give players a chance to play both a male and female character without the contrived bullshit that was Odyssey’s “select your gender” despite Ubisoft having to clarify Kassandra as the “canon” character, and which Valhalla managed to skirt around with Eivor inheriting Odin’s memories through story references. Also, given the potential renaming to “Edo”, it wouldn’t surprise me if the final name for the game ended up being Assassin’s Creed: Dynasty, given that they like grandiose sounding subtitles for the series.
I don't actually mind the rpg format, I think it fits the franchise well. Just stay away from the fantasy nonsense that they went overboard with in vahalla. It's assassin's creed not final fantasy. Have "magic" but in context of it being Isu tech. Also period appropriate gear only Valhalla's downfall was all their dumb fantasy crap. I'm more interested in what the infinity platform is going to be than red to be honest.
Yeah the thing is, if it weren't *that* tied to the monetization aspect of the game, we wouldn't see that much flamboyant and period inappropriate gear... I guess we'll see what kind of monetization we are going to get with Red, but I'd expect a ton of packs just like with Odyssey and Valhalla And story wise... I hope we aren't going to get many fantasy sequences... but I do expect the devs and higher-ups to decide to tap into the Japanese mythology, they are probably not going to pass on that occasion just like they did with Odyssey and Valhalla...
@@lavin214yes but this time they need to make that more obvious as unless you saw Valhalla’s secret ending you would have no idea about the veil and would just assume it’s a fever dream sequence
HELL YEAH A GAME ENGINE UPDATE IVE WANTED THAT SINCE THE MOMENT ORIGNS RELEASED Seriously the new anvil enging in origins honeslty felt like a huge downgrade from unity and syndicate even though that doesn't make sense, so I'm soon happy to hear its finally going to get a refresh. This game is sounding great and the future of ac looks brighter than it has since syndicate.
My only complaint about Codename Red is why are we getting an african refugee as a protagonist? Its not bad, but why are they using one example to justify them having an African protagonist in a Japanese game. I fully want this game but it sounds a bit disrespectful to me to not have a Japanese male protagonist in Japan. Besides, we already have Adewale.
@@Cash27373 I honestly just don't see why they are doing it. I hope if they go to Africa, they will give us a Japanese protagonist. I'll be playing as the female protagonist most of the game.
Honestly as long as we play as an assassin, every game can be an RPG for all I care lol. I just want to play as an assassin in an actual creed, and hopefully with the recruits system back cuz I miss it.
Maybe? If they are having another showcase like last year, we could see some kind of reveal. December is far away enough from Mirage, that could be a nice timing!
I hate the fact that you have to either choose to be a samurai or ninja, just give us ONE protagonist that’s a ninja/assassin, it’s ridiculous that we have to choose.
I love every single AC game out there. I recognize that not every game is perfect and could always have some improvements, but that applies to old school AC as well. AC 1 still kills me every time I play it because of how monotonous everything feels, but I still love it and recognize where it does really well. I feel the same way about the most recent games, which oftentimes feel better than the older games, and all feel different from each other. There’s a very noticeable difference between Odyssey and Valhalla for example, since Valhalla introduced and reintroduced so many classic feeling AC elements to it while still being a big open world brutal Viking game. I’d be sad to see the style of the new games disappear forever, but like I said, I’m not picky. I just hope this Red story doesn’t disappoint and fail to carve out its own identity. Some of the plot rumors I’ve heard few too reminiscent of previous AC games and characters and gameplay im worried will just be like Ghost of Tsushima. Still hoping they can keep delivering the powerful stories they’ve always done with this franchise. Never had a game I haven’t fallen in love with.
I don’t mind the rpg series but I feel as tho they could be more realistic and less janky instead of being like Valhalla and odyssey, something like ghost of tshuima
Actually excited for this oke after playing Valhalla. It’s not as good as the Witcher but it’s Something to play. And it’s not terrible. I just hope combat is improved and the side missions.
And, don't forget! If you own a PS4/PS5 console, and you haven't played it yet, go play Ghost of Tsushima, before AC Red will be launched! As for the RPGs, I love the new approach. I simply can't imagine the franchise going backwards anymore. Ok, Mirage is an exception, and I'm fine with it as well. As being an exception! 🙂
i guess i’m to miss doing one shot assassination on all enemies since it’s going to be rpg focused, I even wish they brought back the double assassination animation like in ac 2 to ac syndicate
Ya know, I don't mind the RPG fans getting RPGs as long as we old-school AC fans also get our more classic AC games. :-) OTOH, it makes me sad that other IPs are going to suffer for the sake of AC having those options.
@@pinseekergaming4760Ancient Rome in the period of Cicerone, Seneca, Giulio Cesare, Ottaviano Augusto would be great. Giulio Cesare was in AC Origins but Egypt campaign was a small part of his life
@@pinseekergaming4760 I mean more Republican and Imperial Rome. We need a game set in Commodus and Nero's time. There's so MANY time periods you can do. Nero was unstable for Rome - lots of political intrigue Commodus bascially started the decline Septimius Servus tried to save the Empire his sons ruined it Marcus Aurelius's time as Emperor of Rome. Aurelian saving the Empire in the most heroic of all miracles and fought Queen Zenobia Constantine's Conversion to Christanity which changed the fate of Western and Eastern Europe for decades to come.
Most of these comment are hesitant about this game (understandable) but this is the first RPG AC since origin that might actually have one of the main character be an assassin. Plus since since ACB release I awlay wanted a feudal Japan game, So I'm optimistic about this one!
They need to scrap the RPG style from the AC IP, it’s not AC. There’s a reason why people are very interested in Mirage and that’s because it’s steering away from the RPG style AC games. They could make a new IP with that Style and I’m sure people would buy it.
Awe! You don't realize how small of a minority you are. Most people and I do mean most, really like the rpg style. It's only a small fraction of a certain type of people that don't. The rpg style sells like hotcakes! Plus mirage totally has rpg stuff so your just wrong.
Main issue with assassins creed games is lack of focus on stealth, being forced to grind side quest, map markers/UI, if they just fixed those simple issues that they could literally just make updates for the games would be much better.
I want this game more then GTA 6. I treat Assassin's Creed Odyssey like the open world ninja game I've been waiting for. I hope they keep the ability to tame animals for sidekicks. I keep the alpha Leopard next to me at all times. Still play it regularly in 2023 September.
Let's go Ac red. Let's go, Yasuke! Im ready to play! Can we get a collector edition steel box edition for a little bit more $. Great ideas so far. im excited to play as African reguee turned samurai.
Maybe the RPJ games could be the games that Abstergo have made only maybe like in Unity we're a bug in the system trying to find out what really happened or (and possibly for a plot twist?) we are a Templar. Maybe high ranking one too. But to have more of a visual on their side of the fight.
I hope they'll return to the idea someday when they're more financially stable cuz immortals was such a breath of fresh air and had so much potential to be a big new IP.
I don't care if this franchise goes full RPG or goes back to combat animations. I'm good either way. I just want these games to actually be real true AC: Games that don't suck.
It's actually some fan-made footage in the Unreal Engine that we used as background videos to support the news. You can find all the references in the description!
I'm happy either way, jade I have to admit annoys me its a phone game, but I got a spare phone and imma get a backbone for it, hopefully it comes to console down the line
Honestly, AC Red I'm not that excited about. The characters just don't sound interesting to me. I was hoping for the character to be a samurai or a ninja that turns into an assassin at some point.
Red has its work cut out to stand out from Ghost of Tsushima, but i thought Ubi Quebec knocked it outta the park with Osyssey so im fully on board for this.
I'm fine with the rpg stuff, but they have way to many abilities and levelling up is not balanced at all.I am very concerned for red,I hope I'm wrong but people asked for a Japan setting for so many years,I hope it will be good and not a here your Japan game and stop asking for it.
Im a simple person. The moment i see an enemy who was supposed to die, but dont die...be it with a headshot, sword through his chest etc.....just because level differences, its anothers skip. Oh, and if there's also stupid jutsu like Naruto shit just because the producer said the game gonna be shinobi fantasy, im out.
Yasuke did exist, but he was a baggage handler's squire, so it will be interesting to see what kind of character he will attempt to falsify history if he takes inspiration from that. It would be impossible for UBISOFT to faithfully capture and reproduce Japanese culture and history in the game, since even the few seconds of footage released last year was full of misinformation about Japan.
@@mikeOxPhat There is no mention of Yasuke being a samurai in the literature of the time. The fact that Yasuke was easily captured by Akechi Mitsuhide at the Honnoji Incident and handed over to the aliens of the Alien House as a mere alien, without being executed, makes it clear that he was not a samurai. If you still insist that Yasuke was a samurai, we ask you to present your evidence.
@@thenorthstarronin Since ubisoft only talks about playing as a feudal era "shinobi", it is unlikely that you will be able to play as the samurai you hope to be. It is obvious that ubisoft has a problem with quality and competence, as they could not even reproduce the Japanese castle and temple architecture in a few seconds of the trailer. It would be impossible to represent Japanese history and culture in a game if the developers cannot even reproduce the architecture. I think you will be shown something that is not Japan before you worry about whether you are a Shinobi or a Samurai.
the protagonist don't have to be a local or native, revelations is set in turkey, but ezio is a white italian. black flag is set in caribbean, and Edward is a white man. another example is nioh, a game set in feudal japan, but the protagonist is a white english man..
Honestly? I'd say the ninja experience would be the closest and more attuned one to the "Assassin" experience of the recent games that didn't feature an Assassin main character. More than pirate (AC4), local sheriff / protector (ACO), mercenary (ACOd) and Viking (ACV). The approach towards stealth, deception, disguise, poisoning, moving in the dark to achieve the mission that ninjas are known for can be SO easily associated to the Assassins imho
The only difference I can think of is Assassins have a code of ethics and fight for the greater good whereas ninjas are basically hired guns or serve the region/family they're attached to. But one would assume our ninja in Red will be more Assassin-y.
I feel having an outsider and a female samurai as the protagonist would be pandering and would take away from the culture the game is trying to portray. They can totally be characters in the game but having two extremely rare anomalies as your protagonist seems like a foul misstep.
Having an outsider as one character, and Japanese as the second one could be interesting considering Japan's isolationism. But I wonder, how are they going to make his gameplay interesting enough, so we would actually want to play as him. I mean, imagine if they made a game with let's say Arno as one character, and one of Napoleon's officers as the other. Why would we want to play as a soldier instead of an assassin? Why would we want to play as this guy with katana, instead of her? And if there is no real difference between them, then what's the point of having him at all?
Hehe, you pretty much mentioned the same dilemma that Odyssey and Valhalla had to face, with different approaches being taken by the devs in the various situations. I do hope this time the two characters are both real the way we play them within the canon of the game, without playing as one character invalidating playing as the other one. Valhalla's explanation of the character selection was a good one, it made sense narrative wise and it was intrinsically tied to who Eivor was... but it was flawed in the way that was presented to the public as both "Eivors" were presented to be canon while historically they weren't. I guess we'll see what Quebec is going to do with this one!
Warrior character would be far more proficient in combat, hunting etc. but be shit at stealth and free running. Assassin character would die easily in combat but be great at stealth and parkour, have better stealth tools, etc. Warrior character would have more charisma in dialogue options and a better command of speech, while Assassin character is an introvert but better at blending in, etc. I dunno, these are just some ideas I have.
@@EmperorOfMan honestly Im surprised there isn't more than what we have now. maybe the netflix show scared producers away since they basically fumbled that one.
and imagine having a small boat like the one in valhalla but all of you can shoot arrows , takeover bigger ships in stealth , fight real dragons in the sea , a water dragon you fight, finish by sword on his nick , an air dragon in a sea of mish , you go up clouds like the one in sekiro , a fire dragon which is near a volcano, a roch dragon near a mountain
I wouldn't mind playing as kunoichi or (female ninja), but I'm not sure how I'd feel about them forcing us to play as a black guy in Red. Seems woke in a way... like whoever accepted that decision was more worried about EDI crap instead of picking a normal, more common historical direction for that main character... guess I'll have to prentend I'm in Afro Samurai or something to make me tolerate it if that turns out to be the case. 😅
@@Cash27373 I'm going to agree with you. Historically accurate material apparently comes second to Diversity for them. It's a very touchy decision from Ubi that probably, (imo) they should've just avoided.
@@thenorthstarronin I can understand that. Although I didn't really mind having two playable, preset gender characters to play as in both Syndicate and Origins. Players I feel, enjoy at least a basic amount of customization when it comes to their main story characters. Being able to choose a thing like gender, whether male or female at the start, for one character seems to me like a common simple thing to add.
Why is Ubisoft doing this they think we are gonna say YES WE ARE SO GLAD YOU MADE MAIN CHARACER A BLACK GUY FOR NO REASON THANK YOU UBISOFT FOR REPRESENTATION

hi, can i ask you something if that's okay with you, i want to say about my worries about AC RED, so here goes, i find the idea of RED having a longer and larger game that will be supported much longer than Valhalla even through Japan is the smallest country and their history is not that expansive like with China or India, at least with odyssey and Valhalla and origins they have more to show fore, not to mention the historical figures in the era are none existent to generals and commanders who Arnt that interesting at all, i just hope they know what they're doing because Japan is not something that screams "2024 blockbuster hit" as ghost of Tsushima was different and i fear that UBISOF will ruin the game. so here are my worries for the game i hope you have a good day
This comment shows a HILARIOUS lack of research; Japan's history dates back to prehistoric times including some settlements from the time period, so they've actually got a shit ton of history. As for the bit about the smallest country, this is completely false; They're not small at all, especially since countries like Sri Lanka, Haiti, and Malta exist. As for the bit about historical figures, this is also wrong; Plenty of historical figures with lots of interesting stuff about them. Maybe if you used Google, you wouldn't have looked so out of touch.
@@thenorthstarronin i have nothin against having the choice to play as a Japanese female character but not being able to play as a male Japanese protagonist in feudal japan is so wrong.. ppl are gonna be pissed lol

Não tô interessado em jogar um jogo, zerar e jogar fora. Quero curtir e permanecer nele. VOLTEM COM O MULTIPLAYER ESTILO ASSASSINS UNITY!
I had an idea for an Assassins Creed Codename Red; Assassins Creed Judgement I call it that because its in feudal japan and i thought since its an RPG game, the players would have to make either easy or difficult decisions and this somewhat tests them in their judgement.
After watching this vid I am now LESS excited for the Japanese setting.. whatever.. I’ll still like the game so long as we get to ACTUALLY be an assassin/hidden one but if there’s any truth to the claims in this vid Ubi’s woke garbage shows up again
