At one point, a commander of George Washington did write him a letter supporting the idea he should become monarch. He responded in refusal. This DLC is really cool and takes this alternative hypothetical past into a cool narrative. I enjoyed it.
In real life, if Washington ever actually saw what he would’ve been like as a king, besides being completely disgusted with himself, he wouldn’t have even cared about being King. For the most part, Washington really just wanted to be left alone with his family.

I'm a huge Washington fan, and this DLC acknowledges something about him. There was support in the army for Washington to undermine the Congress and become a more authoritarian figure, he was the one with the soldiers after all. He refused. George III called him "the greatest character of the age" for it. Napoleon Bonaparte, the French Revolutionary General who did the exact opposite, remarked during one of his exiles "They wanted me to be another Washington." The question remains though, what if his character had been more like Napoleon?
if he would have been another napoleon, he would have ended exactly like napoleon. Dictators betray, and destroy their enemies so they remain with uncontested power, and the ones close to them eventually turn against them. All dictatorships ended because someone loyal created opposition... If you get power by purging everyone around who might become an enemy, at some point someone close to you will do the same to you

Something that I caught on later that adds an extra layer to this DLC is the fact that Napolean retrieved an artifact of Eden when he was with Arno.....and Napolean became Emperor.
That’s the beauty of it. A man who would have been honored as a king, but he wouldn’t allow it. HE put his ego aside. He had every opportunity to be a King, and didn’t.

In the alternate reality, the Templars of the Colonial Rite were exposed by the Apple of Eden, allowing Washington to hunt down and destroy them. It’s heavy implied that the Templars in this reality were actually pretty good moral wise and never did anything to fuck over the general public (unlike the normal reality)
True, but the power and influence an empire grants would have been tempting. And who knows, the Founding Fathers might have been tempted to try an empire/kingdom of their own on the basis that perhaps they could do it better than the British.
Come on, Franklin will have none of this. He was the no1 hater of tyranny in any measure or form. Man he even hated animals that acted like tyrants and was seriously opposed to having the eagle as a standard in the coat of arms.
Like the others with him, Franklin is most likely under the influence of the Apple. Even if he hated tyranny of any sort, the Apple would force his thinking of otherwise. Removal of the Apple's influence automatically turned him into an ally, as well as sober the others when their time comes.

Dawn Scarver No but the Apple, along with all other artifacts of Eden create tyrants. The Templars are tyrants, they have a symbiotic relationship with the artifacts of Eden because they were both made to control whole empires. Washington, a man of unrivaled commitment and dedication to his people and his country, would side with the Assassins because both of their jobs are to protect humanity from being affected by the artifacts of Eden, to protect humanity from being enslaved by itself.
I think the Templars would try to recruit Washington, if that wouldn't work I am not sure they could cooperate with Assassins since there would be the conflict who keeps the apple in the end. Both sides would have to be really desperate to work together.
If this really happened then early America's economy would tank, collapse, burn to the ground that would make Venezuela look like a first world country cuz of them construction projects
Washington will never allow this to happen. Not even himself wanted to be a king unlike George III. He has foreseen this temptation, but he wanted to focus all of his life in Mount Vernon with his family. He fought for our country to be independent from Britain and he wanted nothing more than the United States to be a Constitutional Republic than a monarchy.

Its copium. Washington did effectivly wield absolute power and could have used it for great ill, but he didnt because he genuinely believed in the United States. Power does not corrupt it reveals the truth of a person's heart. Those wirh genuine noble intent can use it for good.
