Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag - PS3 vs PS4 Graphics Comparison #2 [1080p] TRUE-HD QUALITY 

Everybody is in that talk about "PS3 is 720p, PS4 is 1080p, RU-vid is 720p" and shit. Guys, I'm brazilian, a PS4 cost almost $2000 dollars, it is more cheaper travel to U.S and buy one than wait for the release here. If the PS4 was cheaper in my country, I would not give a damn for this fucking comparison

RU-vid seriously does not come close to this game on ps4. It looks soooooo fucking good on my 1080p tv. You have to see it properly and not off a compressed youtube video....

What I learned from the ps2 was that once a new console comes out they purposely drop the quality of the previous console to make the new one look more impressive than it actually is.

The nostalgia :'( AC 2 and Black Flag will be kept in my memories.

The seller in my opinion for the Playstation 4 version is not actually the graphics but the load times. Got AC4 for my ps4 just today and i gotta say the load times are REALLY impressive like 1 sec to go in a building and come back out and etc. I see the slight improvement of graphics on next gen console as a topping on the cake for this game in particular...Gonna go off on a little tangent here but it's amazing how games like The Last of Us on Ps3 look signigicantly better in terms of graphics than AC4 on Ps4. It's just a matter of time before games on Ps4 look spectacular because have no doubt, the console itself is a beast.

Are you guys watching in 1080p fullscreen? There's a big difference.

The only BIG changes are the water, and the low resolution textures on the ps3 and the high resolution textures on the ps4

Games will be like this for a while. The quality of a games graphics isn't determined by hardware, but by the artists who work on the games, and the PS3's limits haven't really been pushed yet.

ps3 is not dead!

I was actually surprised when I played this on ps3 and noticed how well it ran. It ran better than Far Cry 3 or AC3 despite being more visually appealing and bigger than AC3.

I hate to disappoint anyone but i kinda prefer the ps3s version. if you look at Adewele in the ps3 version, he looks more undetailed (like his clothes) but it looks more real. i also noticed that the background is darker for the ps4 version. I Love the raging storms and the beautiful clear blue skies but i hate the dull cloudiness.

Some of the things improved: The water, the draw distance, the textures, better particle effects (e.g. smoke), better resolution (way less noticeable aliasing), the lighting and shadows (no more dancing squares, VERY big difference here). Overall, on a big screen this stuff seems to be a considerable and worthwhile improvement.

In the PS3/360 version there are some Depth of Field + Focus Blur effects on the water and far objects to minimize the effect of seeing low-res textures. That's pretty clever.

Not really worth my $10 to upgrade to PS4 version from my already clearly good looking ps3 version.

The ps4 isn't worth the money for graphics alone. If that were to be the case I would much rather invest in a pc.

Apart from just general sharpening in PS4 I just can't see enough difference to wow me.

It's called DoF (Depth of Field) and it's intentional. Blur up the background to draw the attention to the characters. Plus it lets the developers downgrade the textures so they can put more detail on the actors in the scene (facial animation).

The ocean graphics and mechanics on the 4 are the big difference I see. However on the PS4 you get things like: individual rain-responsive foliage movement of every single leaf, stalking zones foliage movement when you walk through them, when you ride in the seas water actually splashes into the main deck and washes off, pistol smoke-plumes after every shot and cannon barrel plumes as well, edward's white inside-shirt ruffles and sways with movement not just the outside tunic.

I've got both the ps3 and ps4 version and was super disappointed with the next gen version. Ps4 does look better, obviously....but the PS3 is like 7 years older than the 4. Is this really what we get after 7 years? I had them playing side by side (both 50" Panasonic plasmas) and it was depressing how close the ps3 came in graphics quality and performance. I do hope games written solely for the PS4 are going to actually look next gen, not a slight resolution bump. Otherwise I'll just have to keep gaming on the PC, which I really don't like to do as much. Was almost tempted to take the damn thing back to walmart and hope the xbone fairs better.

Also the fog system is actually distance-progressive with its own thickness rather than the PS3 fog-barriers without slow grading. The ground when wet shows reflective surfaces, and there are multiple light sources rather than just 1 in the 3

Definitely! One of the games I am most excited about that seems to be truly above and beyond what we are used to seeing is the Division. that game was a show stopper last E3! Can't wait to see more.

You guys need to understand something, the Next Gen is something very new for developers to work with, compare the graphics of a PS3 game in 2006 and one from 2013 and then you'll notice an evolution and this is whats going to happen

When will we see a comparison of game play footage? Under water, jungles, cities? That's more interesting than a cut-scene.

The black guy looks better on ps3 version, there are no big differences between ps3 and ps4 just the background and the water are much better in the ps4 version

One thing is for sure they did a great job with this game I'm just playing it now not sure how I missed this one I'm catching up on all these great PS3 games while there so dirt cheap and easily available

the only differences i notice is the water, slightly different color, and the sails look better. and the ship in the backround isnt blurry at 1:51

It's not pre-rendered. This is realtime, and it makes it easier to put them side by side for comparison, whereas actual gameplay footage can be confusing to look at for comparison of intricate details.

Launch titles especially games that are released on both, generally have unimpressive differences

one thing i notice is the fxaa version 3 usage or something very similar the texture blur can been seen in the ps3 version where as the ps4 doesnt have im sure texture filtering plays a role partly as well think ps3 can only go up to around afx4

Why use a per-rendered cutscene as a comparison for graphics?

Hey thanks for this, I didn't see a big difference between them, just the water and some little textures, so, I might as well get this on PS3.

look at the textures on the clothes. they take a second to load in, but on PS4 they u can see every fiber in the stitching. Or up close Edwards gauntlets loose at detail on PS3, but on PS4 u can still see all the details.

the textures are more detailed on the ps4, but there's no significant difference except for the water.

I'm really impressed with Anvil engine, ubisoft manage to keep the graphical differences to minimal. The texture works on a consoles also is one of the top rank.

i don't know if i trust how it captured the 720p material - i think we need to see some other tests

People expect massive changes straight away. Remember Kameo for 360? That had horrid graphics but at the end of the 360'S life we had graphics like Battlefield 4

I didn't expect the ps4 version to have that much more detail than the ps3 version.

If you look closely, you can see that textures pop in and out on the PS3 version. At 00:16 on the PS3 version, you can see the textures popping while PS4 has none.

This is simply because the video is upscaling it to 1080p while it is being directly compared against a native 1080p resolution of the PS4 version. Although your TV settings probably aren't even right anyway.

I mean for this game. Is it better to buy it now or wait and buy it on ps4?

I just got ps4 for Christmas along with this game. Haven't played it on ps3, but it looks gorgeous on ps4.

the clarity is better. it's more defined if you look at the material. the sea isn't as blurry. the differences are subtle but it's a cross platform game and i'ms sure if you put gameplay full screen 1 after the other i'm sure the differences would stand out more

The ps4 version is more detailed and has sharper graphics, but I think it would be difficult to see a difference if you were playing each version in isolation.

You dont get it, do you? I dont compare console vs computer prices. And to be sure i wrote ''The prices that i meant are not real, its just for the point'' I'm gonna try it again with no prices. Ps1,2,3,360 specs were same as super-computers. But my 2011 model computer has the same power with Ps4 & Xone , today. So this next-gen consoles couldnt make me ''WOAH'' compared to the old consoles did. I hope u understand me this time.

Is it worth to wait for next gen?

Shader and texture quality, amount of physics objects, particle count, layers of overdraw without loss of framerate... Most of these things are unnoticeable but as this coming generation progresses, we'll eventually look back at the PS3 and say 'whoa, looked real rough back then...' :)

The reason there is little difference is because they're using the same textures on both consoles. However, there is a lot of improvement with the shaders; no more glitchy shadows.

How are you going to compare graphics from a system the hasn't been released yet?

people thinks the gaming will take a big step ahead because next gen consoles are out but games will just continue getting better more complex and prettier. We are on a constant ascension...

Main differences, are the texture resolution is much higher, no shadow crawling, and the water much higher res and reflective on ps4. Its not a quantum leap by any stretch, but the game was not created with the next gen hardware in mind, like Ryse or Killzone 3

there's actually quite a difference in the quality, though I'm not sure what is going on with the scene directly before the black dude says 'A dark little creature no?' They seem to have forgotten to enhance the graphical settings for the ps4.

I really want to see a Wii U vs PS4 one.

Just love it, how people bashed the Wii U because the graphic was not that much of a leap to the current gen consoles. What people don't realize, 1. cross platform games will never show the full potential of the new Consoles. 2. The further we progress on graphics the smaller the visual differences will become the main progress will be in physics. 3. the new Consoles are new and it will take some time till the full potential will be used by devs.

If u guys got a PS4 and what graphics which are comparable to that of a PC, follow these instructions. When you enter your disc into your system, after it completes the download, leave for 10 mins again until you start the game.

The most prominent difference I can decipher between the visuals on the PS4 and the PS3 is the absence of those annoying, fluttering shadow artifacts on the PS4. That was something that always tended to rub me wrong when playing games on the PS3.

Also keep in mind that the capture device in the PS4 is horrible, a proper capture card was not used.

The water effects are obviously much better, there is also faster load times than on the PS3. I also noticed it has slightly better lighting.
