Written June 7, 2024 30FPS isn’t that bad on iOS when playing quality AAA games like Assassin’s Creed Mirage or any of the Resident Evil games. Honestly, I don’t think people like 30FPS because they expect a game of this caliber to be 60FPS on iPad 30FPS is perfectly playable and it does try to maintain 30FPS most of the time so you’re right
I want to buy it, But I think it's unacceptable that it isn't a Universal Purchase including a Mac version just like Resident Evil 4 and Death Stranding.
Yes 30fps is low but the fact this is even running at all with these graphics natively on a thin, passively cooled phone is bloody impressive while only using a miniscule amount of power. It's not as if the iPhone has a big chunky heatsink and a fan to cool it with a 500w+ PSU to power it.
Acting like consoles are not evolving too lol. This game is running at maximum of 1080p on 30fps with medium graphics. A normal console is able to run it at 4k60fps with the equivalent of high graphics. When they able to run it at 60fps the console is probably already be able to play games at 8k
@@mehshutup3041dont forget the fact that the mobile settings preset are much lower than consoles or pc. Mobile high setting in this game looks nowhere close to pc high. Its more like mobile high setting = pc low setting
@@mehshutup3041 man, what are you talking about? It's 30 fps and dynamic 4k on ps5 and series x with (kinda) high graphics preset. iPhones and iPads are currently at ps4/xbox one level, and it's great. Smaller screens do not need 4k resolution, so I'm sure we will get close to ps5/series x levels in 3-4 years.
I just got my new 13" iPad Air with M2 last night and this was the first game I played on it. Awesome experience! 😁Assassin's Creed plays smooth like butter and looks wonderful.
always appreciate these testing videos, they are the best ! p.s. the ubisoft account on an ios game is also one of the most annoying things to ever encounter
The video is really well researched and the point that you made about frame drops in M4 iPad is valid, I have bought the newest iPad base model and there are frame drops. Although I was very hyped for this game release, playing it didn’t feel so good and so I haven’t upgraded it to the full version and just played the free trial. Great video man, keep it up.❤
I have the 16GB M4 iPad and I don’t have your equipment to determine the specifics, but I didn’t notice nearly as much clipping as you did. I did on my phone, we had similar experiences there. But the 16GB iPad did seems smoother to me
I think you can play at 60fps by changing the settings in the config file of the game I’ve tried it in RE 4 remake now I can play it at 60fps (I have the M2 iPad Pro 16gb)
I tried it on iphone 15 pro, and after few hours asked for refund. It was impossible to play even with low graphics settings and reduced field of wiew to 90. Game was closing constantly every 5-10 minutes.
The m4 chip is the newest design and has differences over the other m chips. The m4 chip is also the least common m4 chip as well so imagine there was low priority to optimize for it. Imagine the m2 runs so well has its more powerful than m1 and the m2 also exists in mac. I imagine they will do a m series macbook version. I would think of of the advantages of creating games for m chips is to tap into more devices ( m series ipads and m series laptops ). I would imagine m4 ipad users will have to rely on ubisoft ( i threw up a little imagining this ;) )to do the right thing and optimize for the m4 chip later.
Perhaps this micro stutters occur on the m4 iPad because ist the 8 gb ram version. The main point there is that it’s only got 9 and not the regular 10 core cpu of the „normal“ m4. The critical point ist that Apple reduced 1 performance core of the 4 regular cores to only 3. That could lead to the micro stutters.
Crashes often on my M4 iPad Pro, kinda sucks. And why can’t we have full screen like death stranding and why not full graphics control like in resident evil village. Do better developers. Still happy they are porting all these games though 😁
Thinking its maybe the 8Gb limit on my iPad that is causing it to crash. Idk seems to happen often in challenging scenes right after a few frame drops. When I restart the game 2 times than it works again and I can keep playing. Idk why this is happening.
Looks like you have the same crashes. I hope they fix these issues for the M4, i’ll put it aside for a few weeks and revisit it later hoping it will be fixed then..
I wouldn’t blame the hardware for the frames, etc. I’m currently playing this game on the PS5, and I had frame breaks and huge FPS drops in some missions. The game was near to a crash, so I would say that the optimization overall is not that great.
Great tests!! I have two things to say. 1, Can the M4 iPad Pro run at 720p? If not then maybe that will help. 2, This needs some patch updates but it’s still very impressive that it is playable! 😁
On my iPhone 15 Pro the game looks like.... Reminds me on the old PSP days early 2010. What is this? And the frame drops are crazy. The performance is really bad. I was really hyped. But this is ....
True but still awesome 🙂Mobile market is targeted at small, simple, freemium games - sad, but true. There was some tires to bring AAA games to smartphones, but without great saling success. Apple is trying to bring high-budget games to mobile devices once again, and it’s a great idea…but probably after this few tries, the idea will die again. Smartphone market is too much focused on small freemium games.
no they won't , the phone can't even maintain 30 fps how they gonna make it 60? + warcraft graphics are a joke compared to this game , 60 fps won't happen
once you purchase the full version on iOS, can you play this offline/without wifi? Everything I am seeing online says you need wifi for the free trial, but no mention about the full version. Thanks again, this is a great review!
I have the same stutter on my M4 iPad Pro. So I was pretty shocked to learn that this device only has 8GB of RAM (I have the 512GB Storage option. I understand if you get 1TB you get more RAM... I guess that makes sense to someone at Apple?)
i play it on my iPad Air m1 2022 and it looks awful in medium and low graphics i think its 600p. in high graphics 1080p but awful fps. Couple more years and games look nice and playable fps rates.
Yay, apple developers and silicon valley are finally realizing that most new gen handheld devices now are still stronger than a console years ago. Just stupid that the 2020-2021 iPad Pros had plenty of power but I could only play phone games.Good to see a lot of tech giants learned it is stupid to limit a device's capabilities just because its a phone or tablet
Honestly I buy it immediately, 25 fps is good for a single player game, considering that a lot of games came out with this frame rate even on pc and console
@@sam95bjk3 did you get the full game? I‘ve completed the demo in about 4 hours and had to charge up once, so about 2 hours from 80 to 10% on a base m4 13“
The iPhones are so not ready for these games. All the results I've seen were unplayable for my taste. But anything using a M2 seems to be enough for a good 30fps experience. Hopefully the iPhones 16 Pro improve in GPU perfomance so these games can be enjoyed.
No universal purchase on Mac sucks. Not even hitting 30 fps when games like Alien Isolation or Genshin can run butter smooth at 60 also sucks. Just doesn't seem like care was put into this port at al. Thanks for the video!
Ubisoft are incredibly shit at game ports and optimisation of there games in general anyway. If rockstar did the same with one of there games it would be a different story
I guess its cool anyways, cause bringing them to mobile devices just let us have a near future where we can play real games while we’re not home or play those games without having to pay a lot of money on a pc or consoles, just your tablet or phone
Imagine. Resident Evil 4 remake, Resident Evil Village, death stranding, war mongrels, and now assasin's creed mirage. All available on IOS. With a possible future games like Prince of Persia the lost crown, elden ring, old versions of assasin's creed and other AAA games being ported on IOS. One might ask. What's the reason for getting an android phone or a tablet if there's no APP EXCLUSIVITY?
Keep dreaming even macOS needs to emulate games to have a considerable roaster. It’s nice to have these games working on iOS but you have to realize most people aren’t going to be investing that much on an iOS device to play a game that isn’t already on an android
@@chromebk8674 And how many games that are exclusive on android? Tell me. I know for the fact that android has emulators. But the only thing that works is the ppspp, drastic ds emulator, dolphin emulator, GAMEBOY emulators and retro emulators. EggNs emulator is unstable. And ps3, ps4, and ps5 emulators are non existent on playstore. No wonder only a handful of android users gets to taste the latest android device and android version.
because a phone is more than a game machine. then of course with these games you still pay a premium just because its on Apple. Far more than PC or even a console. Sadly. It is definitely good that these companies are making games for iOS and small devices. They will become available everywhere. But its not just Apple you have to thank for this happening. Other small factor devices such as steam deck also help.
I mean you can technically play every pc out there on android with emulation although it doesn't run all that well. Give it a few years and i think emulation will get good enough that porting won't be necessary anymore.
I don’t even care about the low 30fps, or capabilities running the game, the mere fact you can even play something like this on a small piece of metal in your pocket is just mind blowing. I don’t think people realize how amazing this is.
