One of the most annoying quests on the game. Dunno if I’m just unlucky but I usually do things first time no problem but this took forever.

Apparently Basim has the memory of a goldfish, I failed once because the guy went through a tunnel and I went over it and I guess Basim forgot what he looked like in 5 seconds. Took me a dozen tries

I finally gave up on it. Come to watch this video to see if there was some obvious strategy I'm missing. Nope this is just a F'd quest. KMA Ubisoft.

I hated all the "tail X person to Y location" quests. They are all so infuriating

Yeah Ubisoft make a 5 minute trailing mission with instant fails that is a progress block for your other quest. Really stupid idea

I can’t get it. I’ve made exactly the same thing as the owner of this video but… there are two guards that the player haven’t encountered while tailing the guy… but in my case… those two guards see me and directly engage a fight with me without a reason. This quest is really annoying and apparently I need to finish it to have new contracts, until that no new contract.

For me the key was to use eagle vision a lot of the time. That prevents your line of sight being broken unless you let him get reeeeally far from you.

worst mission in the game (and thats saying something). When he enters the palace grounds you can just watch him from a safe spot on the wall until he deposits the message on the table. Then its an easy traversal around to the message and you can take as long as you like.

It's just a poorly designed mission period, bad AI or not. i love the game overall, but they can KMA on this crappy mission.

It’s actually not that bad. You don’t have to travel the roof tops until the very end- right before you enter the court yard before the castle. You may have to kill a guard up top. Drop down and sneak to the crowd in front of the castle and pay for them to escort you in. This is the key, don’t try and climb the castle walls. Leave the crowd and use the bushes to get to the building overlooking the drop sight. Once inside you don’t have the seek - you won’t meet the undetect objective, but that’s ok. I had to fight some guards. If you are detected by guards the spy will wait until things die down before making to drop. All you have to do is take the letter after he leaves.

You can 100% meet the undetected secondary objective as well with your way just throw smoke bombs at the entrance on your way out after swapping the notes and you're good to go, you'll get out undetected.

Nice, so it's not possible to tail the guy most of the way on foot, you have to track him from above? That's why I keep failing following on foot.

You can tail on foot. Or above. Up to you, just as long as you keep the target in sight.

@@HelenaCrossI think it's impossible to follow him all the way on the ground as that last guard at the entrance just before the palace always sounds an alert if he sees me.

@@lambo2655 There’s a group of merchants near the palace. Use a token (pickpocket them from gold-purse NPCs. It’s random so pickpocket as many as you can. I’ve got guaranteed pickpocketing on to skip the mini game) and blend into the crowd until you get inside.

I did take a guard or two out with the blow darts, that way they also won’t detect you.

I love this game, but for my part, I wish the game developers had this quest shoved up their collective asses. And I don't get how this RU-vidr got away with breaking the line of sight so much. It seems like if I lose sight for more than a split second it's "target lost" and go back to bench. And what jackass decided it was a good idea to NOT let you save your ACTUAL progress?

Tail missions should've never been re added to ac after a million years. Worst experience you can have while playing a game. Thought they were gone for good since Origins. Just another reason why Mirage is an insanely massive let down and a terrible game.

WEll I don't agree abou the game overall, but yeah this tailing shit is for the birds, especially when they lead you through a restricted area. Just DUMB (or sadistic) game design there.
