I remember watching my cousin play Assassin's Creed: Rogue when I was 15 years old and I asked him what game it was and he answered "Assassin's Creed", then a few months later I googled the game and the first link that popped was of Assassin's Creed: Origins. I remember being so fascinated by all the screenshots that I wanted to play the game so bad, alas I never had a PC or a console to play it nor would my parents had bought it for me. I still remember thinking to myself "will I play that game before I die..?" fast forward 5 years later I finally had the money and the PC to buy it and remember buying the Gold Edition for full price on Steam since I had the sentiment. I am not gonna lie, I started crying when I finished the game since I never believed I would ever be fortunate to play it. This will be one of those games that will forever be a part of me to death

i had a similar experience. i was always interested in playing AC games but never got around to them. once Origins hit i got the same urge like you, the unquenching need and want to play it simply from how gorgeous it looked. after Odyssey (looking great as well) and then Valhalla came out i said enough is enough and started first with Black Flag (i mean it's pirates after all lol), then Origins and the rest of the trilogy before going back to OG AC1 and replaying the rest in order. Origins has by far the most unique and beautiful setting and music, most memorable protagonist and most touching story and is one of the two AC games (alongside Black Flag of course) i keep going back to replay.

for me, the biggest wow moments were: finishing the prologue and then seeing the pyramids off in the distance with all this desert stretching out before them; and stepping through to Aaru and, after so much (admittedly beautiful) desert and ruins, seeing this lush paradise with ships sailing through the fields of reeds. i dislike how much Odyssey and Valhalla integrate their mythological elements - in part because i just generally don't think they're done as well (the various boss fights against mythical creatures in Odyssey are just bad), but moreso because it robs them of any impact

Assassins Creed Origins was a refreshing return to the AC franchise. Bayek's story and how he had to overcome loosing his son and other struggles along his journey was told and shown very greatly! I loved the pause menu music, and I won't lie I loved the "early" RPG mechanics as well. Assassin's Creed Origins is not only the best game in the series but one of the best games in general. I have over 700 hours in Origins and still play it once every year, using the NG+ option on nightmare and just taking it slowly. Every time I am playing it, I just can't believe how good the game is and how good it looks. I've played some of the greatest games like the Witcher 3, RDR 2, Skyrim... but the game play, the setting (Ancient Egypt), the story etc. it's always so captivating and engaging, I just love it. Easily one of the greatest games of all time, period.

While I love Odyssey, I have to agree. The introduction of male and female protagonists to choose which breaks immersion because Ubisoft chooses only one of them as canon, the dialogue choices and fantastical stuff like Hades in Odyssey or Asgard in Valhalla really turned this franchise into anything but Assassin's Creed. Today it doesn't even seem and look like Assassin's Creed. I'm happy that Mirage will give us only one protagonist which is Basim but still dialogue choices do not really fit AC. It doesn't feel like we "relive" a certain life of an Assassin, but more like we alter his life.

I'm replaying Origins after finishing Odyssey and it's crazy how much more beautiful the surroundings for Egypt are as opposed to Ancient Greece. There's just something about the way they fleshed out Origins that they didn't do for Odyssey. Maybe the color scaling is higher? But the surroundings in Origins just makes me want to stop everything I'm doing and just sight see. Meanwhile, in Odyssey I'm just running through towns and ignoring all of the little things Odyssey is pretty but I feel that it has way too many areas that all look the same. Ruins, Tombs that all feel the same, enemy camps, small city, big city. That's it. Rather than ruins, I wanted to see those same buildings when they weren't dilapidated. Origins dishes it out and shows me the absolute splendor of the Ancient world. I do miss Alexios though as my main character. I've grown very fond of Alexios and prefer him over Bayek. But I still love Bayek regardless. I got so mad at Aya for leaving him at the end of the game. Like wtf. I didn't like her character on my first playthrough, let me see if I'll like her on my newest one.

Great video I loved it. I disagree with the overall title. It did revive AC again after 3 killed it but AC origins certainly didn’t save anything it ultimately led to the downfall of AC again because it would go on to start an rpg trend that would lead on to odyssey and Valhalla to follow where Valhalla truly killed the series. If Origins got follow up sequels then it truly would have been the saviour Assassins creed has needed for awhile I still don’t agree with the gameplay of Origins it really downgraded in my opinion.

i only really have several criticisms. i think the formula is great and simple. it's definitely a mold i hope games like cyberpunk and games like call of duty already release yearly. the simple formula of parkour, stealth, and the counter/chain kill fight sequences were epic. i think deeper elements of combat are not really existant and they were best realized in the ac2 combat system. i especially think the dps and adrenaline for stealth kills was unfair and a bad system. being able to play any weapon and any skin was better in ac2 when you could take on hoards of enemies with counter and L1 lol. the natural scale of weapons and skill unlocks were really cool when tied to character progression. the skill trees are decent but are not a great singular replacement for progressive mission unlocks (both might score points with critics). i also really think mission parameters were what made the game a 10/10. being able to do many missions or puzzles was so simple and fun with just parkour, stealth, and combat systems. i did love the mercenary mechanic in odyssey but i wish they were more intense with chases, tactical stealth, and other missions objectives. i also think character progression for assassins without an order was uncoordinated and dark. they had so much important dialogue learning the creeds of protecting innocent lives, remaining hidden in combat, and maintaining a public order through the brotherhood. the button map was actually so op the face buttons was awesome and eagle vision was a great addition. other games have used eagle vision like cyberpunk and red dead redemption with other combat options and i think assassins creed could master the hidden blade, smoke bomb, throwing knife combo to dominate even gow and diablo fighter afk games. the hiding places definitely add so much in my opinion and being able to hide in benches hay bales crowds etc makes areas more alive and immersive. i do think that adrenaline would be so cool especially with true ac2-4 stealth gameplay. i think stealth, combat, and parkour would all be phenomenal ways to combo guards out, maybe start a chase sequence, or rig forts. would be so much fun to have c4 orsquads/commands and take out bases of enemies with tactical plans but that would definitely be a huge game. rogue, brotherhood, and online gameplay were some really underrated games with great mechanics. the only other criticism i can think of is action is still slower. we want high octane combos, slides, grabs, hunting spots, interactive cutscenes, explosions, pace. it would be really cool to be sucked into a memory with a silent entry, tactical map, or an eavesdrop mission before you face a tense powder keg of fights and chases and puzzles. it would be so cool to see true ac2 style games in egypt, greece, norway. actually, including epic journeys with immortals and gods creates such a deep storytelling avenue like cultures, skills, narratives, epic enemies, mythical items, and heroic traits.

11:22 After playing through Origins, Odyssey, and now halfway through Valhalla, I just now realized the unforgiving parry in Origins taught me the wrong lesson. I rarely ever bothered to use it in Origins, instead I just relied on blocking weak attacks and dodging unblockable ones. And it was further reinforced in Odyssey since there were no shields in the game, so I learned to just dodge any and all attacks. Really gives some whiplash in Valhalla tho, since shields are back and parries are easy, but dodging consumes a lot of stamina

I was excited for Origins due to its ancient Egypt setting, but it ended up being one of my least favorite Assassin's games. My main issue is that the Order lacks a clear role and feels disjointed. Unlike in Syndicate, where each target had a purpose, Origins felt aimless. The forced side quests and uneven pacing, especially in the third act, were other drawbacks. The game doesn't attempt to explain its fantasy elements either, unlike Odyssey and Valhalla having them be Isu in origin in one way or another, vs here they were 'a fake vision' and never touched on again.

I've been playing Origins for the past week as my first AC game. I played BG3 ad nauseam for 4 months and needed something else. My usual games are Baldur's Gate, Cyberpunk and The Sims. I was prepared to be a bit underwhelmed after the titan that is Baldur's Gate 3, especially knowing Origins is 6 years old, but I was left speechless at the environment/exploration and I love playing as Bayek. I absolutely adore the world and the mechanics feel natural. Something that surprised and impressed me is that you never get dialogue choices and yet it never feels like you are forced into saying things. It's rare for a game to give this little agency without it feeling restraining or frustrating in a way. It's easy to get inside Bayek's head. Now I am the kind of player that does NOT like needing to get better at things like parkour and stealth in order to complete and enjoy the game. I play to explore, to develop the story, and to do all the side quests, not to improve any skills, and I like it when games make me feel like I am slightly overpowered. I appreciate that the side quests let me choose to be overleveled for the main quest (unpopular opinion in the gaming community, I'm aware). I don't know if I will replay the game after I finish it, because I don't want to grind levels and do the exact same quests with the exact same dialogue again, but it definitely earned my heart and my praise.

Again, I never played an AC game again until one day, I was in the Game store looking for a 2ds at the time, and saw the gameplay of this on those lil screens they have around the store. Now, being an Egyptologist since I was kid in primary school who even learned how to read and write in heiroglyphs, I was sold on this game but just didn't have the time to buy nor play it. Infamous lockdowns came, I was made redundant, so I had all the time in the world again. Copped it for a steal, Gold version for £9.99 Microsoft store and I've completed the game 5x now. THAT'S how much I Love this Friggin game!! Egypt never looked so gorgeous and the tomb crawling with torch just gave me chills every time. I have completed Hidden Ones but not Curse of the Pharaohes, which is odd seen as I've completed the main campaign 5x.

This video is the ode to the majesty of AC:Origins it deserves. I agree 200 percent with everything said about the narrative and world and man....your ending montage and music gave me the exact same chills and watery eyes all over again as I had when I finished the base game and Hidden Ones DLC for the first time 2 weeks ago. The game has held up that well this many years later. So...incredibly... satisfying. And moving and emotional.

Tip about smoke bombs!!! You can *always* dodge. Even when not in combat Which means you can always use smoke bombs For example, if you Dodge against a wall, drop a smoke, and shoot a guard through the smoke, They won't react to it and won't see you. You can cover yourself while throwing sleep darts and other ammo. You can also use it to keep them from detecting you, if you see your bar getting too high, dodge and drop a smoke. Again, you can use it literally whenever you want, so you can drop smokes for almost anything.

Origins did save and at the same time kill the AC series. We got Odyssey and Valhalla later. Judging by the trailer it looks like Mirage brings the series back to being about the assassins and templars. Very good documentary though. You're like AC Unity, an underrated channel that deserves more love. I can't believe they didn't call you to test play Mirage. But rest easy, you will some day!

Mirage is just another lie i saw gameplay it's the same shłt as valhalla with a new coat of paint the shit skill tree is back the levels technically there jsut not with munbes it's named like initiaten assassin etc you stil lneed to level up your weapons... origins jsut killed the AC series no other way around it. No matter how shłt ass rpg fanboys try to say otherwise...

I didn't have much hope for Origins before playing it, but i bought it to see how the assassin brotherhood started, but my god i loved this game not just at the end, but the whole game thanks to that brutal cinematic intro, and loved Bayek, and how he went from this scary badass with his enemys to a friendly guy with his friends. Also this is the only game i have bought a DLC ti get more story and time with the protaginist

The biggest negative of the game is how the last third of the story just falls apart: you can’t really Assassinate the last few Ancients, and the way Ubisoft forced us to play Aya, and not even let us equip her with better gear was clearly a vestige of what the original idea for Origins was going to be. Nefertiti’s Afterlife area is one of the most gorgeous areas in video games

As someone who played the original all the way to syndicate I was kinda disappointed that the hidden blade wasn't a one hit kill anymore. Like you're putting a 4 inch piece of sharp metal into someone's neck and your telling me that doesn't kill the guy unless you upgrade the blade?
@JFVideos960
@JFVideos960 Год назад
It kinda makes sense when you look at it lore wise, it is the first blade and it’ll be kinda weak, especially against stronger enemies, so Bayek had to upgrade the blade to one shot

Origins was such a breath of fresh air for me. I wasnt picky about the controls or anything. I just wanted to explore egypt. The mystery around pyramids, the oasis scattered around, a whole new pace. I loved it so much and still launch it here and there to go around exploring and sightseeing. I was reluctant about Odyssey but eventually learned to love it. I really love the water, white sand beaches, the beauty of ancient greece. Valhalla was super "ok" for me. Ive never liked old england. Gloomy and ugly for the most part.. and the game was unnecessarily long. I digress. I love Origins and im actually downloading it on my OLED Deck right now because of this video lol

I have a question for you. If the follow up to Origins was located in a different time period/location, would people have a better feeling towards the RPG style? For example if instead of Odyssey (430BC and Greece) we got a game like AC: Sacrifice. Based in 1510's Aztec Empire (Spanish Templars vs a budding Brotherhood)? Because the RPG games weren't bad games. Origins is the only one who follows a hidden one/assassin and I think that distinction separates it from the lack of standing the other 2 protagonists have. And the protagonist is the central thing these games need to get right. Cause-Effect with rationality. Something we lack as a Misthios and Viking
