I'm using headphones and I do think the music is a bit too loud but it's not bad, perfectly watchable for me at least, I only really noticed it because you pointed it out. but if I'm specifically listening for it, I do think the music volume can go down just a touch
It's weird that people have issues with Yasuke being playable in AC, but not when William Adams being playable in Nioh. Both are video games with fictional takes on historical characters, but oh well Internet always does this
"Nioh is not even remotely historically accurate. Look I platinum’d both Nioh games & platinum’d the last 5 Assassin’s Creeds, AC if anything is more accurate than this game. The entire plot of Nioh is you’re chasing an alchemist who uses magic stones to turn people into demon’s. You literally fight a snake with multiple heads at one point. Nioh is NOT even close to accurate which is why it’s fine. AC has always had some level of historical accuracy. And taking someone who was nothing more than a guy Oda used to do party tricks & a female gender bent version of one of the famous Iga Shinobi ( her dad is literally Fujibayashi Nagato in Shadows that’s confirmed ) They took the history of Japan & erased anyone actually important to its history for DEI points. Let’s just say it for what it is. William Adams at the very least had children with a Japanese samurai’s daughter, had an estate & was instrumental in building trade routes between Japan & the west. And he’s buried there to this day. Yasuke literally knew Oda for 15 months then was given back to the Jesuits."

@@UuLoo-if9gb He'll probably be able to do some of the climbing to traverse I'd assume but not the stealth that she can do but that's just my assumption based on gameplay design.
Whether or not Yasuke held the rank of samurai is still heavily debated among historians. Yasuke was most definitely a weapon bearer for his “owner” Nobunaga for some time. However Yasuke was given land, pay and servants all of which were indicative of samurai at this time. Yasuke was also given a Katana by Nobunaga which was a weapon that was only able to be carried by samurai from my understanding. The grey area is when Nobunaga was betrayed and subsequently committed ritual suicide, leaving the fate of Yasuke up to his captors as they weren’t sure what to do with a person who was so visibly a samurai but also a foreigner. In the end Yasuke is believed to have been given back to the Jesuit Missionaries whom brought him to Japan in the first place.
Your fighting a brick wall if Yasuke was white NO ONE would be saying anything about what rank he was they don't care if it's proven he's a Samurai the people mad at this are mad for a different reason and using the excuse of him being a weapon bearer or not as a means to be mad
Mind you these same people praised "The Last Samurai" with Tom Cruise something the Japanese were actually offended about and they love Nioh where William Adam's is the main character, a person who in real life never fought a single soul and never went to battle he was a merchant until the day he died ....thus isn't about Yasukes title this is white people (in the west) insecurities with blacks

I'm not bothered by Yasuke. I think what's actually weird is this is the first time we've played as a confirmed real life person, unless I'm forgetting someone.
It's sad you have to even say that mind you these people praised Nioh whose main character was William Adam's a merchant in real life WHO NEVER FOUGHT OR BEEN TO WAR as a actual samurai in real life and was simply given the title as a literal bribe to keep him in Japan and remain a merchant .....but their ok with him doing things he never achieved in real life

What ubisoft is doing is simply ❎☑️❎☑️ Have you seen their preorder prices, that's the real issue, ubisoft does the same thing they did with starwars, also keep in mind that ubisoft is cutting content and selling it back to they players or it's disguised as "free update", usualy developers wait for their games to be successful to start making a dlc, day season pass, dlc is just scummy.
I think there definitely ARE times where companies choose black characters just to tick boxes which in some cases can be more racist than they realise, but now it's started to twist sourly in the other direction, people are just seeing black or female characters and just instantly complaining and writing it off, it went too far one way and now I think it's going too far the other. I honestly think that if GTA San Andreas came out today, people would complain and write it off as another "ticking boxes" game just because it focuses more on a black community, and I think that's rather worrying
SA came from a time before companies went out of their way to be "diverse". Now companies are being racist by going out of their way to be diverse; putting importance on skin color. Or how Ubisoft is bragging about having "the first Star Wars game with a female lead"(which isn't true, I think it's either the 4th or 5th). Going out of your way to make a female over a male lead is sexist, and vice versa. Female/Minority leads used to flow naturally, because emphasis wasn't put on these things and the characters were organic, not being forced on storywriters like we have now with companies such as SBI
But this is the only black dude in the whole country during a time where it stands out the most. Also it’s Ubisoft so, I mean come on. We all know. Cj fit into his time and place at a time when devs weren’t doing “ESG”

@@damronbrooks6902 I don't care about people's skin color, so that's not something I keep track of, but I'd start with the OG Star Trek, Star Wars (Lando Calrissian), GTA San Andreas, Remember Me (video game), Assassins Creed Freedom Cry, I think the main character on the game "Men of Valor" is black, but I've never actually played it, Turok, Conan The Barbarian. Like I said, that's not something I really keep track of, so I don't know if all the writers are white. One thing to keep in mind though, is that these people are minorities IN AMERICA. In America Asians are a minority, and in Asia white people are a minority for example.

Yasuke was indeed real, but he was not an actual samurai, think of it more like a "living treasure" he was given the role of a retainer but not an actual samurai, as what i heard back then from a documentary he took up arms during the honno-ji incident but was swiftly defeated and imprisoned and what i know is that he was given a choice to commit seppuku but he didnt wanted to do it and he fled and thats about it he just dissappeared after that
I think he became a samurai near the end of his tenure, at least that's what a lot of historians say. I guess I could be wrong. Thought he started as a retainer (basically a pack mule, yes) then became an official samurai later.
@@andyowski5021 from what I've read after Nobunaga died he basically vanished from the face of the Earth but it's very heavily debated that he never fought. Also there are no visual depictions of him which is strange if we go by what is the most spread around story of him. Which depicts him as an all mighty strong warrior wielding a huge tachi.

This is a pretty debated topic for people to say he wasn't with certainty. A lot of historians do believe he was. It's just his life wasn't super well documented.
Yasuke has no concrete proof that he was a samurai but theres also no evidence that he wasn't. First of all people need to understand that being a samurai did not mean you were a warrior like the AC trailer and many other outlets of media depict them as. Being a samurai was being part of a social class, wives, children, grandparents, ect. All of whom were samurai but obviously did not fight. In the case of Yasuke we know Nobu was completely fascinated by him and basically kept him around like a trophy. Its stated that he was "a holder of swords" which can mean many different things but probably means he was a sword bearer. He was also given a ceremonial katana which despite popular belief was a much more symbolic gift then a gift to fight especially for this time period as katanas by this point were almost entirely kept as a symbol or ceremonial piece. Theres no documentation that Yasuke was trained in any facet and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance raise questions to his supposed samurai status. Theres no record of Yasuke at all during the events at Honnoji. This means he did not fight to the death or commit seppuku which almost completely erased the possibility of him being a warrior samurai as many people falsely claim. It is my personal belief that Nobu gave him the title of Samurai but that does not mean he was a warrior. He likely was a close ally and friend of Nobu and at most a bodyguard although that is even a stretch. The truth is the writing is too limited to conclude he was given the title of Samurai yet it's my personal speculation he was yet not in the way people are thinking. In terms of concrete original sources all I've been able to find over a few years have been 1581 letter of the jesuit luís fróis to lourenço mexia, Shinchō ki, and Cartas. All of which are either Japanese or Portuguese and I believe can be translated online if you don't have the time to translate yourself. Either way I'm happy to play as a samurai with at least a real life counterpart even if he isn't completely accurate.

He went back to the Jesuits and disappeared off the face of the earth. We know next to nothing about Yasuke. He was mostly just shown off by Nobunaga like “Hey! Look at this black person I’m with! To me, it's 10 years too late. There's already good games set in Japan like Ghost of Tsushima, Sekiro, Nioh, and Nioh 2. They made their mark and Ubisoft is just late to the party. It's gonna take more than a footnote black "samurai" and a discount Shao Jun for me to care.
The Yasuke comment whatever, but it's pretty ridiculous to call her a discount Shao Jun just because they're both Asian. They're not even from the same country...
@joeycondomony8098 I wasn't born yesterday. I know they're from different countries. I was referring more to her similar fighting style, same cropped black hair, similar eye color, similar getup (just give her longer sleeves and change her color scheme). Put them next to each other, they're not too far off. And who knows, maybe I'll eat my own words and she'll be more distinctive.
He talked about the Japanese character a lot and even said that since that is his preferred playstyle he will probably play more as her, unless you're talking about someone else.

I'm pretty sure the game is going to start off yasuke as a retainer and then turn him into a samurai like as you say real life or from what you know because if you look at the trailer then some scenes make him look like he just arrived there might look like he is a retainer

well said. My thing is that people read on tick tock and twitter som random tit bit about Yasuke and never fact chack. Ubisoft has a whole team of researchers and Historians. Granted it its a game but they still adapted that history to their game some sembalance of what they say is true especially for assasins creed games
If someone asked me, I'd say they picked him because he's black. If you asked me 10 years ago, I wouldn't have said this (nods to "Freedom Cry"), but because of SBI and all the politics in modern gaming, I think that's why they went with him. From what I've seen, a lot of Japanese gamers are unhappy about this.

Tbf he does address that. It is plausible, but who knows if it full on happened. Either way we're talking a game series that's about an ancient society that passed their blood down to the Assassin's which gave them Eagle vision, so idrk if it was ever too plausible at all.
It is historically accurate and plausible because this guy did exist, was a samurai, and was black. Secondly, did you just ask for historical accuracy in Assassin's Creed. That game is just as historically accurate as PvZ2.

I think the people mad about the 2 protagonists are just gross. If latest games make one say no thanks that's fine, but that's not what they get angry about. Personally think it looks hype and different. And no it's not just play a black man despite what some say, it's that and a Japanese woman. And there's just more nuance than they want to admit
The word Samurai is very convoluted! Lost in translation is to fail to have the same meaning or effectiveness when it is translated into another language! Ancient Japanese culture has many opposites to western culture! Words like Servant, Paige, Retainer, weapon bearer don’t translate well from the Japanese language/culture of the time! Westerners think of those positions or words as lower or undignified! Japanese thought of the elite warriors as servants is a perfect example! Thinking that a Japanese lord would keep Yesuke around for entertainment or as some help just isn’t how Japanese lords operate! Oda Nobunaga just having conversations with the man proves that! People really think a Japanese lord would even talk to a man they didn’t respect!?
I think it's stupid, it takes place in Japan it should be either a Japanese man or a Japanese woman. When I play a game about my culture I don't want to see a white guy in Jamaica as the main character. I'm not going to buy it but I hope everyone enjoys the game and have a good time. Idk I mean what would the agenda be here though? This is set in Japan. I don't know if Ubisoft has an agenda to push for Black people in Japan. Nobody called it agenda pushing when Adewale was first mate in AC 4 or when Achilles was a prominent Assassin in the states while slavery was still rampant.

NEVER EVER has anybody publicly said (when talked about a dream scenario in Japan) that we want a samurai with heavy combat. Never has someone said give us the samurai Experience or at least storywise but with the Transformation into an actual assassin.
