Assassin's Creed: Valhalla - What Happens if You Save or Kill Faravid 

If you want the Faravid neck thing to make sense. He is the reincarnation of Jörmungandr aka the world sepent also Loki's son like Fenrir. At ragnarok Thor and Jörmungandr fight and he also poisons him, i mean big ass snake right. Halfdan is Thor's reincarnation (Confirmed) like Eivor-Odin, Sigurd-Tyr etc. And Faravid did poison Half D. Brilliant!!

He pulled his sword a little too early for my liking. He killed a chief we captured before we could interrogate and one of his closest men constantly talked about keeping the spoils for themselves. You dont keep a thief like that close if you're loyal to Halfdan

That line, "I hope you were right about him." and Halfdan's weeping really gets me.

I think Faravid did poison Halfdan because he’s always trying to give him lead cups. He gave his friends a bunch of treasure and they camped out in some Roman ruins who as said by Moira had lead pipes. When you catch the Pict chief Faravid kills him immediately instead of questioning him. When Faravid is confronted by Halfdan he immediately pulls out a weapon instead of trying to deny it. Then when he’s tied up he acts like he deserves it instead of trying to plead his innocence. If he lives on the way out of Jovik he doesn’t deny it when asked if he knew about the lead.

Don't know if it has any correlation but didn't Faravid kill a captive as Eivor was about to interrogate him, same as Galinn who was the traitor in Soma' inner circle.

He Knew. he gave all the gold cups spoils to the crew while giving the lead ones to Halfdan

Moira knew what lead was and saw her mother drinking from lead cups and still didn’t put 1+1 💀

Faravid gave gold & silver cups to his crews and gave only lead cups to Halfdan. He deserved death.

If you are still having trouble deciding, here are my thoughts. SPOILERS AHEAD obviously. The entire quest line I thought Halfdan is being unreasonable, paranoid and rash. Even after I spared Faravid, I still thought I did the right thing. Until I escorted him out of the city. Thats when I remembered everything I thought was just coincidence before. So lets see everything he did: 1) He did not allow the Pict Chief to speak (strange but the explanation he gave made sense at the time). 2) He has been gifting him those goblets for a long time (entirely possible he had no idea, everyone else found out only after Moira was asked by Eivor). 3) When you save him, he is escorted out of the city. He still doesnt give an answer and has a very dodgy look on his face as he leaves. Thats when I started thinking: 1) What if he killed the Pict Chief because he knew about the traitor king and Faravid working together to overthrow Halfdan. 2) He knew about the lead goblets being poison the entire time, that's why when accused at the crowning, he drew his sword really fast, even though there was no immediate physical danger to him. 3) Of the four Jorvik council members, excluding your friend - One council member was from the order. Second (king) betrayed you. Third, Faravid is really dodgy. At this point I thought fuck this guy. Out of that whole bunch he's probably a traitor too. Good thing I save my game regularly. I reloaded to before the crowning, and had him killed instead.

only his way deduces that he already knew, as soon as halfdan accuses him, he already takes his sword, who shouldn't have nothing to fear, he could be calmer, like someone who is not at fault

Oh he totally knew, I can’t believe there’s even a discussion on this. After watching that ending and him completely ignoring the question. Glad I dispatched of him and got my alliance, and to think I came here thinking I made the wrong choice

I'm still torn. Ultimately I decided to execute Faravid. He seemed like he and Eivor really had a blossoming kinship going on but a few things just didn't feel right. 1. The quickness with which he killed the Pict Chief 2. He has been giving specifically the lead Goblets for awhile 3. When Halfdan accuses him he draws his sword 4. Every time he is asked if he did poison Halfdan he dodges the question Granted Faravid looked very confused as to what was happening at the coronation ceremony but he still never denied doing it once Halfdan actually accused him. I suppose you could say he didn't know he was poisoning Halfdan and was just gifting his Jarl the Goblets but then why didn't he just say "I didn't know"? With my playthrough I have been trying to play mercifully. I try to spare who I can because I feel that bests suits who Eivor is. With Faravid it's possible he didn't know but there is just too much sketchy stuff he did and didn't do for me to not execute him. If Ubisoft was trying to get us to be legit messed up by one of the story decisions, well they have certainly succeeded. There is just enough plausible deniability to make us all think "What if he was innocent" or "Did we just have an innocent man killed". On the flip side you can just as easily question yourself after exiling him "Did I just allow the man who was trying to kill his Jarl walk free".

This was the hardest decision in the game, halfan crying after killing faravid broke my heart :(

I like this Mission great storyline this one really hits home it says a lot, trust no one doesn't matter how long you knew them.. oh another thing use your own cup pour your own drink 😂

You what so funny is that Faravid was confirmed to be a reincarnation of Sif herself.......so Halfdan killed his reincarnated wife lol

In the exiled instead of head getting bashed in version at the end of the scene he was coy about the lead cup and wouldn't come clean to Eivor who had stood up for him. He knew about the cup, he had to know about the cup, that can't be reconciled in my book. This ending at least spared the king from the angst of killing him as he willingly bowed his head for the hammer blow...

I believe he knew and because he could not defeat him (Halfdan) in battle he chose a slow poisoning not a Warriors death not the way a Viking would want to die they would not want to grow old and die in their sleep they would like to die in battle to guarantee that place in Valhalla

Well no wonder he was so hard to fight at first, he literally has the same fighting animations as one handed zealots.

I sided with halfdan because as soon as I sided with Faravid first and asked him if he knew about the poison, he just ignored my question by changing the subject and then told me that we’ll meet again someday and went off with his horse. As in, he knew that those cups were poisonous all along. If he was so innocent, he would’ve definitely answered the question and said something like: “What? No, of course not! I didn’t know that they were poisonous.” And there I thought that it was an accident, except that it was on purpose so all I did was load my last save file, go back and sided with halfdan. Didn’t even let him get away after that

Felt bad for Faravid. Tried to be loyal but Halfdan was just nuts lol.

How do you know he deserve to die his crew may have been the one poisoning killing him really doesn't make a difference the only difference is do you make the king happy or do you make favorite Happy by sparing in I didn't like the ending where you kill them cuz I felt bad about killing him cuz I actually liked him but I like the both of them so it's kind of hard for me to choose and you let him if they both live we never decided choosing the other one where he lives but the other one dies I could not choose to for him to die so I didn't want to do that because I like the both of them

players who chose "Stand down or fight me, Faravid" option have chosen the right path. Players not only secure a strong alliance with Eurviscire but from now on, they can also go in the further search for allies.

People say he is Jormungandr and Halfdan is Thor. Thor was poisoned by Jormungandr, and while I agree that Faravid poisoned him. I don’t think he did it knowingly. There are interpretations that people in history didn’t do what is written willingly.

I drank so much mead before the coronation with Faravid and decided not to. It might have been the mead that saved Faravid!

10:10 avoid the question or stay silent means "yes, I did". Unless there's another motive, he has no reason not to say no. Or it just bad writing, I guess.

Alright, this may help anyone like me who is having a very hard time deciding on what to do. I have been sitting on this menu unable to choose for hours, but after some research, I finally came to a conclusion. No matter what you decide to do, Halfdan does not show up for the final fight nor does he act like an ally at all (INFO; You get the alliance on the map no matter what you choose). It is not mentioned in the game but shortly after the events in the longhouse, Halfdan dies. So your alliance was meaningless, and if you killed Faravid, that was also meaningless. So in the end I did NOT kill Faravid but rather let him go, maybe he did poison Halfdan or maybe he didn't, but in the end, Halfdan dies no matter what. So it's better to have a friend and skilled fighter on your side than a dead king. So far from what I have read Faravid does not make another appearance if you let him live, but there is always a DLC if they ever make one. So in my opinion, you should consider letting Faravid live, here are my reasons; he is a good friend, a good fighter, and - POSSIBLE SPOLIER; There is a chance he may be a reincarnation of a god. Also, another important thing to keep in mind, why would Faravid willingly leave England if his intention was to kill Halfdan all along? As you walk him to the gates (If you let him live) He says something like "I will leave this place, and go far away"; Now if his whole goal was to kill Halfdan, why would he not try to kill him then and there? Seems odd that he would leave England don't you think? I have several reasons why I let him live, these are just the more notable ones. Also, one last thing, Halfdan does not help you at all after this quest, so I see no real reason as to kill Faravid. And if there is some bigger future for this character, like in a DLC, I want to see it. The tattoo/marking on his neck leaves so many questions. [I will edit this comment if any new information comes to light. Also, I may add the other reasons why I let him live later down the line]

I side with Halfdan for the whole story but at the end, I side with Faravid. Eivor knows already about Faravid, I like that ending because of the dramatic good byes between Faravid and Eivor confronting him personally then they stayed friends.

2nd option is better not because he dies a traitor but because he accepts his death and once he dies halfdan mourns for his old friend but they'll see eachother in valhalla

Idk if anyone else noticed, but on the right side of faravids neck, he has black markings that the isu recieved when using the device in the hidden truth video

If you look Up the side affects for metal iron then no wonder he didn’t trust him I wouldn’t trust someone who kept giving me a gift that kept poisoning me and back then only a few knew of iron metal so it would be hard to say if he knew or not

Looking back, and reading the comments, I now seem to remember that those cups were silver(lead) that Faravid gave Halfdan. I guess in a way, Faravid was a traitor. I defended Halfdan, and let him kill him. I felt sorry for Halfdan having to kill his long time friend. Perhaps, he is a little off balance, but I'm sure Halfdan will have good support from his Advisors. Also, he'll one day find a worthy Successor.

So what's the better choice, does it affect anything? Should I kill him or let him live once I reach this point

Everyone keeps saying he knew and the healer lady knew but I don't think any of them did until the cup hit the ground. That's when eivor realized because a silver goblet dropped on a wooden floor at that height wouldnt be damaged like a lead one leading to eivor asking why that metal was so soft. No one could tell before, unless Faravid dropped one of these goblets over the years, noticed the "soft" metal and devised the plan. But then again the goblet that eivor picked up earlier that he offered Faravid before talking to the king was thrown on the ground which should've caused more damage unless that goblet was made of a different material further proving Faravid's innocence 🤔

You have to choose between a righthand and the king. Similliar between eivour and sigrud. I chosse the king.

I felt really bad after defending halfdan. But after watching this, I surely believe faravid is a traitor.The way he ignore eivor question is the main reason. I haven't play any valhalla dlc, but I won't be surprised if faravid turns out to be member of ancient order.

This freaking quest has me losing sleep. They kept us in such obscurity as to if Faravid knew about the goblets being poisonous or not. Not a single hint given. This is why I dont like facing delemas such as this in games. I don't know if I should feel bad or not for having Faravid killed. I'm seriously thinking about going back in 3 hours of gameplay just to choose the other option

I had to give Halfdan someone for the good of my clan, I don’t think Faravid betrayed him but I needed and alliance and now he is with Odin.

this scene was very great, except i really hate how the voice actor was recycled, i really can't unhear styrbjorn.

Eivor actor as a man is far better, more presence and better acting I kinda love and hate how this story ends, Faravid is really an ambiguous character, did he know about the cup lead ? Why he killed the pict chief so fast and why they looked almost exactly the same physically ? The death alternative suits him better, the best warrior cloaked in the shadows of his Jarl's glory

I think that there is no clear answer , he might have known , or he might've not either way i think both choices are right.

Stand down or fight me: Faravid: If you confront Faravid, you'll need to fight him. Halfdan will execute him once you're done. He'll be upset at the betrayal but will give you the alliance you came for. The best choice is the second option, Stand down or fight me, Faravid. This way, you know your alliance with Eurviscire is secure and you can move on to seek allies elsewhere.

Faravid was meant to be executed by Halfdan... And if you did not kill him then I think you would not get the alliance.

Darn, Kassandra sounds livelier than female eivor, she sounds like she doesn't really want to do the role much. Male eivor sounds like he is having fun with role. Makes me think of DA2 with m Hawke being more lively than the f hawke. 😔

Just sided against Halfdan. I think he's a glory hound and just wanted fame from other people's work. I do think he was being poisoned on purpose, probably with good intentions, who wants a madman for a king? Made up my mind when he needlessly killed that one guy with his hammer. He's a lunatic and will just get people killed lol

I don't care if Farravid knew he was poisoning Halfdan. Farravid is a friend and we should hold loyalty to our friends, he probably had a good reason.
