I love this trope. This is an underused trope. Is it a trope? I'll just describe it. When in video games when the boss theme for a climatic life-changing battle is the main theme but beefed up.
This game is criminally underrated. Fighting Athenians whilst your crew sings Tale of Leonidas on the open waves hits different. Same with the Deimos boss battles.
Never has a boss theme sounded cooler in my life. Sadly I didn't get to hear it because I chose not to fight him I didn't want to kill him. But at least I can hear it on RU-vid
Darius told Elpidios many stories of Alexios but he only gained one thing from then... That his own Pater abandoned him and got his Mater killed. From Egypt Elpidios arrived in Messara late at night, the moon bringing him light to guide his path. The area in which the Kretan bull once stood was desolate yet one man stood. Alexios. Elpidios jumped from the rocky wall to the floor and stared Alexios in the eyes. Alexios cried with happiness yes Elpidios showed hatred and disgust. He charged at Alexios with the might of Zeus and ra in the same corrupted body and as there blades collided, people from all of Greece could feel the vibrations of the repeated slashes of spear and sword. Rain poured and lightning flashed every time the spear of Leonidas met the blade of Elpidios. Only one would be victor and only one would meet hades himself. The battle lasted hours until Elpidios fell, the blessing of ra leaving his body as his life came to an end. Alexios ended the corruption of the bloodline for good that night. His own son killed by the legendary spear of Leonidas and this ended the corruption of the mythical bloodline forever...
As Alexios returned to the grave of Elpidios, he was shocked to see it was empty. Beside it was a note written in Egyptian that Alexios alone could not read. A few hours later he met an Egyptian slave who read out the note to Alexios. The note said, “Alexios, the eagle-bearing Demi-god. You cannot rid us of our great pharaoh Elpidios. His legacy lives on and soon the spear of Leonidas will be ours. The staff of Hermes will be ours. Your life will be ours.” A spear was suddenly thrusted through the body of Alexios that brought him to his knees and just as Elpidios was about to lay the killing blow, the full fury of the bloodline rushes through Alexios’s body as he hears Neema’s voice echo through his mind “Alexios, it is not time to die yet...”. The spear of Leonidas and the spear of ra collided for hours “ALEXIOS, I THOUGHT YOU WANTED A SIMPLE LIFE, FISHING WITH YOUR SON! HOW COUOD YOU SAY THIS IF YOU SEND ME AWAY WITH DARIUS!” Elpidios shouted “THIS IS NOT WHAT I WANTED OF YOU ELPIDIOS! THERE IS NO SINPLE LIFE NOW! I WANTED ONE BUT NOW I REALISE THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN!” Spears carried on colliding and blood spilled onto the battlefield as the fight for the bloodline would finally end. This moment was the last for Elpidios. “ALEXIOS, YOU WILL NEVER WIN! I AM SUPERIOR! I AM A GOD!!!!!” He charged at Alexios one last time and as the spear of Leonidas found its way in the heart of Elpidios, Alexios cried of both pain, sadness and triumph. His pain and suffering caused by the order of the ancients was in the past and now he could carry on with his life as the legend he already was...
It seems that the journey of Alexios will not end as he is called to the labyrinth of lost souls where the Minotaur once stood. As he ventures to the centre, he is pushed into the arena. Elpidios stares him in the eyes, holding the spear of ra that burned hotter than any natural flame,”Alexios, this time I will finally end you. YOUR LEGACY HAS CAME TO AN END! You may have slain the Minotaur but I have slain beasts worthy of GODS! You maybe the great eagle-bearer but I, I.Am.ELPIDIOS!!!”. Blades once again collided, filling the heavens with the music from the rhythm of the fight,”You even fight like your pater Elpidios, you are corrupted, just like Deimos.” Alexios said “DO NOT COMPARE ME TO HER!!!” Elpidios shouted as blades sliced and stabbed. This fight was once again in the favour of Alexios as the spear of Leonidas drove deep into flesh. “WE COULD HAVE LIVED A BETTER, SIMPLE LIFE ELPIDIOS!” Alexios cried. “I would...never live a simple life with you! I am an Egyptian GOD! You are just a... Demi-go-“ Elpidios couldn’t finish his sentence as hades dragged his soul to the underworld and as Alexios picked up the spear of ra, he felt a godly power surge through him. The eagle-bearer was now on the way to godhood. His torment could finally end. He would finally be able to say a true goodbye. “Goodbye... Elpidios...” the words left his mouth just before he began to cry but Alexios knew that it would get him nowhere. He left the labyrinth and finished with his legacy of Egypt forever.
I only had this song play during the forced fight with your sibling in the forest. Seeing the comments where it plays in other places is tripping me out.
It should play every time you have a life changing fight with a family member. Demios in the forest. Stentor if you get the bad ending, Kleon after he shot Deimos and Pythagoras if you choose to fight him

i havent played a lot of the games but from what ive seen this game and the way you play it is coolest because its in ancient greece, youre a mercenary in the middle of a war between sparta and athens. thats the coolest shit for an rpg in my opinion
I don’t believe so. I think it plays in the Pythagoras boss fight, and the boss fight against the characters sibling only. Though I may be wrong about that too.
