Ok so let me say that I asked for a review on this a while back BUT couldn’t wait so I bought one and had it for weeks now and it’s really really great. I’m 6’4 260 fit and I took this to 19mph(one time lol) and my 9yr old son loves it also. Really built like a tank and I personally don’t see any flaws except maybe having the phone holder away from main panel. I wish I could send you guys a picture of my garage gym showing this but trust me when I say that the whole neighborhood likes it. Thanks for the review💯

Thanks for watching! The Assault has a steeper curve so the belt is easier to get moving than the TrueForm treadmills. Great detailed review! How is this treadmill for longer / slower runs (e.g. marathon training)? Any way to simulate hills? Also, do the rubber slats give it a feel of running on a track?
@TreadmillReviewGuru
@TreadmillReviewGuru 2 года назад
Great questions and thanks for watching! This treadmill is great for longer/slower runs because you can really control your pace and move the belt on your own vs the belt moving you along. Simulating hills might be a little bit more of a challenge compared to an incline treadmill but you should be able to simulate hills by varying speed. (We would actually love to know your thoughts on this if you wouldn't mind sharing) The rubber slats are very similar feeling to a track but the curve feels great on the knees. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

@@TreadmillReviewGuru I'm not an elite runner but run 50+ a week and usually run 3 marathons a year. BTW, I have owned 3 cheap treadmills and they easily just break down within the year or two. It gets to be pricey having to replace the treadmills every time. @TreadmillReviewGuru
@TreadmillReviewGuru 2 года назад
You can totally use it for walking. This is one of our favorite treadmills! The Assault is manual powered, so if you opt to walk, make sure you stand about 2/3 of the way up the deck, otherwise, you'll lose momentum and the belt won't move fast enough underfoot. You'll get the hang of it - just be aware your position on the deck impacts how smoothly the belt moves.

What do you mean “zone out” as a walker? So, you would not recommend this for walking?
@TreadmillReviewGuru
@TreadmillReviewGuru 2 года назад
You could definitely buy this treadmill to use for walking if you want to. It's just engineered for high intensity training and running so it might be overkill if you're only going to use it for walking. The "zone out" comment was basically stating that using this machine is quite a bit different than using a traditional treadmill where the belt just moves on it's own and you don't necessarily have to worry about the belt. Whereas the narrower curved belt requires more focus and attention until you get used to using it. You could say there's a learning "curve" 😉

Is this good for running for longer durations (60-90 minutes)? Is it difficult to hold your pace?
@TreadmillReviewGuru
@TreadmillReviewGuru 2 года назад
This is an excellent treadmill for all distances. Professional athletes prefer manual treadmills because they naturally mimic outdoor running. Because the belt is not motorized, it will go as fast or as slow as you do. It's easier to inadvertently slow down since the belt doesn't hold you at a set pace, however, the belt has a sustainable momentum so you're not fighting it to keep going. It's just like running outside - you set the pace.
@zakymaa
@zakymaa 2 года назад
Yes you can do long duration but your pace will be a bit slower. It is not difficult to hold your pace, you need to get used to it and know where to run on the belt. You will manage running a little bit up on the incline to be faster and on the flat section to slow down. it will become second nature from your second run and you will be able to maintain the speed.
@targetpace2680
@targetpace2680 2 года назад
I prefer using the Assault treadmills for longer runs (>90’). Running pace is slower compared to outdoors and motorized treadmills but there are many upsides Including natural variation in pace, improved left ight running balance and posterior chain engagement. I prefer motorized treadmills for outright speed over longer intervals and of course incline repeats.

@@brianbermudez5339 I personally wouldn't put it in that garage then. It has corrosion resistance coating on some of the components, but the bearings under the belt don't. So, they could get rusted if left in a hot and humid environment for a long period of time. The AssaultRunner and other treadmills do best in climate-controlled spaces to help promote longevity.

Hello again I wondered if I'd been too harsh in my criticism of this machine so now that I understand the basics of it thanks to this and other videos, I went onto it again today determined to persevere. While you can just about manage things at low speeds of up to maybe 6 or 7 km per hour , it's like trying to control a wild horse above that. There is no way that you can say this machine is responding to the user. It may initially be responding to the user but it somehow manages to "get away" from you and quickly imposes faster and faster speeds. Perhaps a super runner with total awareness of position, stride, foot strike etc. on the machine can manage to maintain a speed of say 10 or 12 km per hour, but after one hour of trying, I could not. Each attempt ended with me having to do an "emergency hop off" or falling drastically back to a slower speed. The machine design is fundamentally flawed and is a danger to life and limb.

The learning/improvement/change that i found that made all the difference, but was not mentioned in this review, was that i found to dramatically increase control and to improve the ability to slow down after a sprint/interval, was to focus on high knees vs long stride at the same speed. it is a surprising difference in adding control, and allows one to slow down almost instantly at the end of the sprint without jumping off.
