I wish it was this easy using SharePoint as a datasource. It's utterly mind-blowing that SP isn't a selectable datasource. I can't imagine any business storing data in someone's OneDrive.

Yeah it's kind of hard to believe but we see it all the time! It's a bummer the out of the box template wasn't built with SP as the datasource.

Can I link the "Checkout" button to a power automate flow that will notify myself and the user that the asset has been reserved?

Absolutely, Microsoft has some documentation on just this idea and if you're familiar with both app then you should be able to start here: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/canvas-apps/how-to/trigger-flow

Will the system still work if you completely change all the catergories/equipment? I did this and now nothing shows up on the template

Hayley, Indeed you should be able to modify data in both the CategoryName and ProductName columns of the Excel document, save it, and refresh the data connection. I recommend doing these one at a time and see if the app gets stuck... some components can be mapped to the app display like the CategoryID which shouldn't be changed. Ensuring that your Excel file is fully saved in OneDrive and you've refreshed the app itself should hopefully trigger the changes.

Was this template recently deleted? I can only see the model-driven “Asset Checkout” template, not the canvas app one.

Hey! Looks like the templates list shifted a bit since this video, but today from the PowerApps home I selected "Start with an app template," then I was able to find it a ways down. Its availability could depend on commercial vs GCC tenants or perhaps licensing. If you don't see it after another look maybe your IT admin could look into enabling it.

Metal Scorpion, that's a great question! Unfortunately it's not as straight forward as we'd like. You'll first want to recreate the data structure using SharePoint Lists. Then you need to add connections to the new list in the app. Then you'll likely need to rebuild the forms in the app to use the new data connections. The trick will be the underlying structure / field naming will be a bit off, which is why you have to rewire the app.

@@BulbDigital oops my bad wanted to know calculation 🧮 like I have 4x inventory after giving 2x to the another person total count in apps is it doable ?

The Asset Checkout template is not set up out of the box to support a Kanban type inventory management method. That said, this could be done relatively easily. I would suggest moving the Assets to a SharePoint list or maybe Dataverse depending on how large your inventory data set is. Then you could add a column for each asset for "Quantity on Hand" or similar. Then of course update the Power App to increment / decrement this value. Sounds like a cool use case. Good luck!

Hi Creator, you cannot delete the template, but you can delete the Power App that was created from the template. I'd encourage you to google "how to delete a power app". Have a good day!
