This has happened a few times in the last few months, especially if I’m hurrying to do something. Often with this situation I feel that all the blood is draining from me and that I could faint. I have been dealing with difficulties breathing at night, a constant cough and things to that nature such as shortness of breath, I will note I also smoke occasionally. Do you think that’s the cause? You’ve answered so many questions that I have been asking my internist and I have been also looking on Google and RU-vid to find out what is going on because I cannot stop coughing. Usually it is at night when I’m driving and it also happens at home, also yes I do wake up and feel like I’m choking and it can’t catch my breath and breathe so thank you so much because I have been putting off. See you pulmonologist but I have been to an allergy immunologist of years ago however, I did not have this problem at that time. My question that I have for you is Can asthma be caused by mold a mold problem in the house. Oh, I have so many allergies to so many things so it could be triggered by any number of things but I’ve had allergies on my life and I have not had asthma all my life, so I really would appreciate a reply if you are reading this and I just want to say again thank you so much.

During physical activities, I tend to have to stop participating or slow down due to feeling as if I cannot breathe properly. I am unsure if it is because I am unfit or have asthma (exercise induced?). I have been dealing with this for at least 6 years (currently 16). To fix this, I usually stop moving and deeply breathe for a few minutes and eventually will feel okay enough to walk. I also get chest tightness sometimes - especially if I exercise soon after taking my medication. After a race, especially a long or fast one, I will have so much difficulty with breathing that I will find it difficult to walk. Alongside this, in this small forest area I used to run in, all of this would be amplified and I would feel very itchy. However, I have never been diagnosed with any allergies. Alongside this, my brother has asthma and a variety of allergies which makes me question if I am more prone to it.

went to the er recently after going on a hike with my friend in the morning and i just couldnt make it up the steps or talk a full sentence without having trouble breathing. ended up feeling really dazed and my heart rate was high. i also had really bad pain on both sides of my ribs and tightness in my chest. Was given a nebulizer treatment and some prednisone. im doing better now and i had sprained a intercostal during this and suppose to be going to an allergist and pulmonologist soon

Dr. Renee, I saw my doctor and my asthma got worsed and was also hospitalized because of that. I am using two inhalers LABA and SABA. LABA two types and SABA three times a day mine is allergic seasonal severe asthma.... Mine got severe abd it became exercise induced

Thanks for the video doctor it really helped,i was a heavy smoker from 2002 until 2020 i had covid twice 2021 and 2022 i used to have chest pain not sever, and sometimes breathlessness for minutes,i went to the doctor plenty of times but never said i have asthma,he said it was acid reflux and also the clearing of my throat,last year i used to walk abt 6ks every day last year i would feel breathless for few minutes after some deep breath i was fine,recently am having chest discomfort on daily basis,am unfit obese 115kg am alwys sleeping not working, i tried to work out yesterday lifitng up after than i had shortness of breath dizziness and nausea,and mind you i just had an overall blood test and xray done 3 days ago and everything was fine,what can be the reason for the breathlessness chest discomfort, i can take deep breath and hold for a minute everyday can i still have asthma regardless

Hey Dr. Renee! I have a few questions for you! • When I laugh really hard at times, I have noticed that I have a wheezing noise that goes along with my laugh. Is this a sign of asthma? • Almost always after eating, I will have to clear my throat a million times. It gets in the way of me having conversations with others because I am always having to clear my throat. I don’t eat a lot of dairy products at all, so that’s why I am wondering what would cause me to feel like this. Would you consider this as a sign of asthma? • I also feel like it’s hard to breathe at times and I have to stop and take deep breaths, but I’ve always blamed it on my PCOS stomach bloat. Other info: - I have never been diagnosed with asthma, but I am starting to notice these things about myself that I didn’t notice in my younger years. I am 24 years old. Asthma has made appearances in family generations, so I do think it’s possible for me to have it. Thank you Doctor, you have helped so much- I recently went to a pulmonologist and he thinks I might have a very mild case of asthma, my ENT thinks I have an irritation of my vagus nerve ( neurogenic cough) - have an inhaler and Gabapentin. My coughing is spasmodic and I feel like I’m choking and can’t breathe as well as normal… episodes last about 10-15 minutes- afterwards I am limp & exhausted- its horrible & very embarrassing, no matter what I can’t stop coughing once it starts……HELP!! Hey, I cough and wheeze a lot and it usually takes me a really long time to catch my breath after exercise as simple as walking upstairs but I don’t feel the shortness of breath other than it being harder to breathe sometimes and have no chest pain although my back is pretty sensitive as you mentioned with the back pain, do you think it could still be asthma??

Hello doctor! You gave a very useful information. I want to discuss with you my own issue. I am an anxiety patient using SSRI tablet for two years. Two months ago , I suffered fro prolonged dry cough for one month then developed chest infection. My doctor treated me. But a week later I started experiencing SOB without cough or wheezing. I consulted a pulmonologist and he put me a corticosteroid inhaler. But Now despite of using inhaler I often experience Difficulty breathing . I have normal spirometry and chest xray. Some doctors are of the view that it is a panic disorder. while a doctor calls it asthma. I am still unable to find out wheher it is asthma or panic disorder. Kindly guide me

Hey Dr. I am 22 years old, I feel Breathlessness from long in night n many times in day aswell. Everytime I have to clear my throat. Nowadays it's more, I gave attention to it just a week ago. But I don't feel that much tightness in chest. But unable to take deep breath , when I try n need it most. Went to a govt hospital, he gave me some meds (Montelukast Sodium & Levocetirizine hydrocloride + Ascorbic acid tabs). I m taking these, still sometimes I feel breathlessness, It was a govt hospital, he just heard me n wrote these meds n that's all. Now do I need to go to another dr? I m confused

I had asthma for 2 weeks that lead to Pneumonia. I cannot nebulize continuously as it has side effect on me. I stopped using inhaler as it increases my heart rate, from 100 - 120 bpm. The cough didn't go away and then one day I felt like I couldn't breathe deeply, I felt so tired and had low grade fever. The next day I went to another doctor and had x ray. The result came in and it said I have Pneumonia on the left lung and the doctor confirmed it. I am on antibiotics until now.

So I just recently started to realize that I may have had asthma my entire life. As a child I used to have this really bad cough every once and a while but only in my sleep. The cough would wake me and keep me up, because the pain in my chest became unbearable. I am now a full legal adult and still have this cough every so often. I had COVID last year and after my quarantine that cough came back but way more aggressively. I had it all day and night. I played on scholarship for my college, but I would have to frequently run to the sidelines or trash can because I was coughing so much I thought I was going to throw up. It hurt my chest and my throat very badly. I have trouble breathing when it’s hot and sometimes in the fall heading into winter. It feels like my throat is super tight. Sometimes when I shower it’s so hot in the restroom I can’t breathe and run out completely exposed because I feel faint. Sometimes after I eat as well no matter the portion size, I cannot catch my breath, for almost 30-45 minutes. Now I am noticing for a little over a month I cannot give rid of the mucus in my throat. It’s hard to talk, drink, swallow without noticing it’s there. I never connected the dots until I started working as an MA in a pediatric office. Does this sound like asthma ? Or something else ?
