Asthma is a very annoying and scary condition. My worst experience was one night when I had an attack. I couldn’t tell anyone what was happening. The words just can’t come out. I saw everyone as tiny particles and lots of tears came down my cheeks. At that point, I felt I was going to die cox I was literally out of the world. I could only see little stars all around. Luckily, I was rushed to the ER and I got better in a few hours. When I got fine, everything felt like a dream. I couldn’t explain to anyone. They only said I passed out. Asthma is terrible. It can kill you in a flash. I pray that anyone reading this doesn’t get caught up in this chronic condition.

That is so true, its horrifying especailly when you're young and don't fully understand whats happening to your body. I used to have pretty bad asthma attacks when I was younger. Coughing to the point of almost vomiting, coughing your lungs up, etc. It also doesn't help that you get all sweaty and are crying and now the room feels so stuffy. I used to always be rushed to the ER when I was little at my grandmothers house because her house was near cornfields. This happened more than 3 times at least and it was horrible. Now I'm glad my asthma attacks are less severe and I barely cough and know what to do even if I don't have my inhaler on me. It also helps I have a preventative one too! Good luck to you too hopefully this disease finds a cure soon!1

I came here because I had a relative who died because of asthma attacks and gosh! this is terrifying. It makes me anxious and overwhelmed as well, like how fragile these people are, in just one snap they may leave us. It makes me want to be healthier than ever and live a healthy lifestyle. To all people who are suffering from asthma, I salute you all for being so strong and for keeping up! Stay healthy! Keep safe! Be careful always and don't forget your medications. God is with us.

I have asthma, and like many, I couldn't always keep up with my peers physically. Because of this, I was bullied. I was always a bit more cautious, and I was aware of my condition, so I'd avoid certain activities out of concern for if I had an asthma attack. The video described the feeling well- the burning sensation in your chest, the struggle to breathe, and the many triggers, such as fragrances and pollen. Honestly, asthma is not easy to deal with, because you're prone to exhausting yourself a lot sooner, and things that your average person can do, such as a quick lap around the neighborhood or a walk up a flight or stairs, is hard to do at times, especially if you aren't used to doing such things. If you meet someone with asthma, please be considerate of their condition. Don't spray fragrances around them, allow them a chance to catch up if you're out walking or jogging, and don't treat people like us as a burden or something to make fun of.

It sucks man. I'm 30 years old and have suffered my entire life, and it gets worse year over year. I've had a few ER visits during my early adulthood. I went undiagnosed until my early 20s. I joined the military prior to the diagnosis, and really struggled. But I pushed my way through the training and physical fitness exams, barely passing the minimum requirements every time 😂. I always thought that my breathing was a struggle because I never exercised (clearly not the case). I'm not overweight and never had been, but I was not in shape, you know? Anyway after I joined the military I DID get into shape (US Army). Yet the breathing problems not only continued, but they got worse. I barely graduated my basic training and secondary training (AIT at Fort Gordon in Georgia) entirely because of my poor pt performance. My military career came to an end though when I collapsed during a run. I was transported to an emergency room off base, where they took scans, asked questions, and ran tests for a couple days, then diagnosed me with the condition. The procedure to discharge me started immediately and only took a few days to process me out (general, not dishonorable or medical). I've contributed to struggle ever since. I always feel like while I'm trying to inhale, my body is wanting to exhale, but also vice versa. So if any of you reading this think you may have it - go get tested asap! Don't wait like I did.

When I was a child, I always have asthma almost every day, hence there wasn't a day when I wasn't coughing. This condition continued on up until my college days. I was actually dependent on inhalers but they barely help in actually relieving my symptoms for the entire day. Having asthma grew a fear in me because I already had a classmate who succumbed to its symptoms. Fortunately, when I started working, I was finally able to discover that if I drink Cetirizine every day, I do not get asthma attacks or minor coughing. But when I don't drink it, the asthma hits me. Since discovering that anti-allergy medications kept my symptoms at bay, I have never held any inhalers again nor did I need to go through nebulizer treatment. Whatever the allergy trigger is, that I don't really know.

you need to go to an allergy specialist. I have also been experiencing the same thing. I got dust mite allergy which makes my asthma worst. Anti-histamine might help you reduce the allergy symptoms, but you still need to know your allergy trigger.

@patiakreles
@patiakreles 3 года назад
That's because you can't exhale all the air in your lungs. Try to fill your lungs to the top and then breathe a little bit more, that's how you feel when you have an asthma attack, right? You can do exhalation exercises during an attack to help you clear your lungs. Exercise: (i didn't invent this, it is an exercise a PT gave me about 15 years ago) Inhale to fill your lungs, form a small hole with your mouth (keeping your lips almost pressed) and try to exhale (it is supposed to feel hard to exhale this way) when you feel that you are running out of air to exhale tighted your belly. You have to exhale like your life depends on it when you feel that you have almost no air left. That last exhalation will last about 1 second. Then you will feel the need to cough. Don't cough yet! Repeat the exercise 2 or 3 more times and then you will cough and that will be the best feeling in the world.

For those who use an inhaler, make sure you use your spacer. It makes a world of difference. Especially if u feel that when u use the inhaler by itself and it isn’t helping or helping enough. The spacer helps deliver all of the medicine with the rest getting lost throughout the air. Trust me, I was dealing with this and it was hard for me to get enough medication but when I used my spacer i felt so much better

Breathing is one of those things that we shouldn't have to work so hard to do, but it's really tough sometimes. I find that it's less painful to stop breathing when I'm having an asthma attack, probably because of the "too much air in the lungs" - which is extra hard when it's triggered by anxiety.

I get asthma attacks from stress, and sometimes it's just because i laughed too much and my lungs start to swell up. It really does feel like my lungs are full but my heart doesn't get enough air. Thanks to whoever invented the inhaler.

I thank whoever invented the inhalers, but as an asthmatic myself, with covid around it is even harder to breath (with the face masks on) but what i found is that if a wear a medical face mask (the thin blue ones) it helps a ton! I sometimes have to take it off at times but because of their thin lining, it helps me to breath, but stay safe doing it. I prayer for anyone with asthma, like myself, are staying safe! PS: Remember your blue inhaler!

My asthma has gotten so much better over the past couple years. I went from taking two puffs every morning and evening to maybe one puff a week. Exercise never triggers an attack but for some reason laughing does. I always have to be careful when I spend time with my friends because there is always a chance that I laugh too much and end up in the hospital.

Keep discipline, keep control of your life. No disease can control how much enjoyment you can have in life. (Keep your inhaler close, take allergy shots, Zyrtec and live on. ) I have the same thing never been in hospital though. Allergies are very severe for me cat and dogs mold a mold b ragweed and I cant laugh super hard. Its fine we live on, serve society make a meaningful difference. (I am saying this for reassurance, not to downplay your symptoms) What I hate as well is family members then have pets with the very allergen that I have makes me think there just doing it to annoy me. Then act like "ohhh I did not know, then proceed as normal no change in action, I guess they made their decision, Its just hard for me to accept the delusion (Moving on is a very important skill I realized). Some people are just insensitive, oblivious there is no love in there heart merely calculations.

@@Turnpost2552 it really sucks when people are insensitive about our triggers. Luckily for me, I've had great success in dealing with my allergies because of a new treatment I underwent recently. It has honestly made such a huge difference in the way I live my life. I don't ever have to worry about falling asleep without taking my inhaler again. I've had moments where I have made spontaneous plans with friends and left the house for days without my inhaler. A couple of years ago, the anxiety from not carrying my inhaler alone would have triggered an attack. Life is honestly so much easier when I don't have to constantly keep my disease in check.

After seeing all those comments talking about asthma attacks and how they feel, I feel very lucky to have treated my asthma since I was a baby (when we found it out). I never had any asthma attacks. Now I stopped them 1 year ago, I do not need them anymore, but if any symptoms show I have to take them again. It’s like I do not have asthma at all! I took swimming lessons since it helps with asthma and breathing. I even run better than normal people ;)
