The non-supercharged Virage did get quite cheap but I don't think that these Vantages every dropped below £90k or so. XJ220s were down at around £100k too.
Still, one of if not the best looking "proper" car, ever made. Living in MK and seeing these SuperCars being wheeled across the road from one shed to another was always a special "thing" to see, esp. as a Kid!
Loved the previous generation Vantage so much (and still do) that this one just never floated my boat. I'd still have it if someone gave me it mind you.
Have been looking for Clarkson’s “poetic violence” and “… get on their knees and thank god…” quotes for years. I knew he said those words, and that they had to exist in some form or another somewhere on the net. But years of googling failed to locate them. Now at last, here they are, together in the same feature that begins with the green shutters - just as I remembered. Excellent. Thank you for sharing.
@@chamade166 Only if you’re a soy boy that’s naive enough to believe in the obvious fake ‘climate change emergency’ myth psyop. In which case, Darwin has a plan for you.
My favourite Aston Martin still to this day. When they were new a friend was about to buy a 993 but i convinced him to take a look at a DB7 first. They had a V8 Vantage in a London showroom and I just melted in it's presence.
Every supercar had parts.borrowed from other cars . Jag xj220 had rover back.lights , mclaren f1 rear lights from a coach ,.later diablos had headlights from Nissan 300 zx .
🥰🥰🥰🥰 Wonderful handmade and cultural and STYLE! Not like todays garbage… These handcraft-workers are real artists! Eternal thank for there Cars!🥰👏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰🥰
Been looking for this review with the Pink Floyd Welcome to the Machine background soundtrack as its uncut and the original broadcast version Later versions remove the Floyd track and the other great songs like Cher's Just Like Jesse James, Alice Cooper's Poison and also it remove the price quote. The cut version is found on the VHS video Top Gear : Super Cars.
me too. i was only 8 when i saw this and welcome to the machine sounded like the coolest thing id ever heard (my dad loved pink floyd and as a result i was already familiar with them but i had never heard him play this track, presumably because he didnt have wish you were here on cd yet)
Tapped this off the telly when first aired, my God how time has flown, 90s best decade it was my youth where anything seemed possible, thanks for uploading x
One of my favourite cars of all time. I remember seeing one (in an Aldi car park of all places) in the 1990's and was just amazed at it. British muscle car, but a very luxurious one!
That, is a proper Aston Martin, and one of my all time favourite cars, specifically the LM 600 version. At one time, not that long ago, the basic Vantage version could be had for as little as £25K!!! I knew I should have bought one then, doh!!
Last of the Old School NP WASP hand made Aston Martins....The Vantage was never imported to USA 2/2 to EPA standards, only got the Virage for a few yrs & later the DB 7 which was not a pure Aston Martin, jaguar mass produced as the NP factory closed in 2000
That Holden/Pontiac has the spec but not the looks and refinement. Don't get me wrong, though. I would enjoy that vxr500 every day for any amount of time, but it's no comparison to the v550 or v600. It barely gets to 10% of the refinement that went into the Aston Martin.
Yes it was during the period I owned a couple of Renault 5GT Turbos, and these used were cheaper than a new 5GT turbo, I also seriously considered one, whish I had taken the plunge.
I miss these days and TV like this so much. I’d sit as a kid and watch my dad watching top gear. Back when the world made sense, before they invented climate change and all this other nonsense.
You mean back when corporations and oil companies were still destroying our only planet for profit but the billions of dollars they spent convincing us it wasn't happening was successful? Ah yes, the good old days. Ignorance is bliss
Strange - the older Clarkson got, the less he cared about proper journalism and actually making his content about cars. First the cars were relegated to a role secondary to some game, then his content became about juvenile playtime with imbeciles where sometimes a car was used without being deliberately destroyed.
@@G58 For a car company such as Aston Martin, this is a very ugly car, it just looks plasticky and fake, I’m sure in 1993 this was the ‘modern fashion’ but no I just don’t like it.
