Hi Ben It strongly depend if issues are caused by conventional wear stuff or if something specific like gearbox hydraulics gets wrong. You can simply be at 10000GPB+ per one gearbox issue if clutch and hydraulics say bye in Ferrari. And then if an independent workshop can fix it or you have to go to dealer.

I guess find these will be tricky :-) but you know we all put as much passion in our dadcars as our valet allows 😀 so point is to find a way how to breiten the valet to enjoy more passion. But thats for us but my experience says children memmory is linked to cars in a way that they remember events the car brought them to. Like your dadcar meet :-). So more dadcar meets are needed to think less on how to buy more expensive girlfriend.

I would choose to drive any Aston over any Ferrari every single day, because it's simply a more "special" kind of car - it roars rather than screams - it's got more brutish power and looks, as opposed to the Italian's "prettiness" and delicacy ----- and I'd get let out of junctions umpteen time more often than in the Ferrari!!! It's a no contest for me!! Not even close!!!

Not losing much on a DB9 with fair mileage atm. TBH even the F12 won't lose too much as James didn't buy an ultra-low mileage example IIRC. Maybe a couple of grand on the DB9 and £5k on the F12 over 5000 miles.

@dadcars
@dadcars 10 месяцев назад
What colour would you have? DB9s look best in silver imo 👌
@schell0118
@schell0118 10 месяцев назад
If you think it looks best in silver, it makes sense to buy one in that colour. I see too many in silver, so I would pick a more interesting colour. Red, blue, green? Any of those would look good on an Aston. There are so many colours or combinations of colour to choose from that for me, choosing grey with a black interior is a missed opportunity.
@dadcars
@dadcars 10 месяцев назад
@@schell0118 green is lovely!… I wanted a 2009 as it’s the start of the glass key revision but before they jump up in price with the DB9.2… not a lot of expensive cars were being specced new in 09 due to the financial crisis so not actually that many 09 cars… most of them are in this colour as were the easiest to sell as showroom stock.
@schell0118
@schell0118 10 месяцев назад
@dadcars Yes, I understand why they are all silver. Often it's because they are leased rather than purchased outright, and leasing companies specify examples which are neutral in colour so as to be inoffensive rather than maximally attractive. I was simply pointing out that if I were to buy one, ease of resale wouldn't determine my colour choice.

@@dadcars I have 2010 DB9 SP and I would say it’s easier to work on it yourself then some mainstream cars. Since it’s kind of "hand made" lots of things are possible to "hand repair". However the parts or service cost is very difficult to compare, to Ferrari F12 or other same generation exotics. For example the cost of steering rack for DB9 is $7600, for F12 $3550. The problem of Aston Martin depreciation is that the parts and service in the past we’re more expensive or equal to Ferrari but Ferrari has higher prestige so prestige to service cost Aston Martin is more expensive hence the drastic depreciation, now they are putting Mercedes engines into their cars that would probably bring the service cost down but that also brings the prestige down significantly, Now it became less of an exotic and more of a simple sport car like Mercedes GT.

Sure, Aston Martin can be cheaper in every way than a Ferrari BUT when Aston Martin uses old technology from Mercedes. So I prefer Ferrari. It is a shame that Aston Martin charges heavily for its new cars, when the technology is a few years behind. Aston Martin may be a 2023 model year but the technology is 4-5 years old. This is shame. So the prices Aston Martin is asking for its new cars, should only be half as much precisely because of old technology in a new car.
@dadcars
@dadcars Год назад
This is true on the current gen models… but they tend to depreciate quickly so you can get better value on cars that are a few years old
@ingvartorma9789
@ingvartorma9789 Год назад
Don't want a car with old technology. I think the DB 11 is the most beautiful, but when it turned out that it had old technology, interest cooled. I have seen in my city when Aston Martin test drove DB11, DBX DBX 707; New Vantage, before they were launched. I live at the top of Sweden in a town called Kiruna and is at the foot of the mountains. So Aston Martin and other car brands with their new models. So they test drive between Arjeplog up to Kiruna and sometimes further towards the national border. So I've also seen Rolls Royce when they test drove the Cullinan, Phamton 8, Ghost. Yes, you can list several brands such as Mercedes, Range Rover as well. Remember in 1985 when Ferrari was going to test their engines, they had rebuilt a number of Corvettes to lower the Ferrari engines in. They had to stand all winter in a parking lot at a gas station. When it was coldest then we had -40 degrees Celsius, that cold lasted for 4 weeks. At the end of that period of cold, they started the cars and thought they didn't have the engine heater connected, so they started after a bit of a wait.
