BENEFIT OF COVER Each time a ranged attack is allocated to a model, if that model is either wholly within this terrain feature, or it is not fully visible to every model in the attacking unit because of this terrain feature, that model has the Benefit of Cover against that attack. It does say MODEL not unit so I think you need to remove the model(s) benefiting from cover as they die

You can only get cover allocated to the models in the unit in cover. So you take a cover save or a normal save to decide where the models get removed from.

If you’re running invasion fleet, give the Hive Tyrant the FNP enhancement and he’s tough as nails. Not essential, but if you did want to avoid the proxies in future.

I loved the endless swarm video the other day and am glad to see you try out other swarm types such as invasion swarm. I'd love to see a harvester swarm (with haruspex in it) and / or a flying fight between a hive crone / harpy and the imperial flyer. Brilliant videos as usual 👍

@mordian its big guns never tire rule monsters and vehicles can shoot or be shot while in engagement range. So those guardsman could shoot the monster in combat as long as they arent in combat. Key to remember the rule is for monsters and vehicles can shoot or be shot while in combat.

So the cover issue at 36:00 is a minor mistake, although there is some nonsense so I'm not surprised. With ruins, the defending unit gets cover on a per model basis, however the often missed issue is that it measures cover to the attacking UNIT, not attacking model. It doesn't matter if your attacking special weapons guy has a clear shot, if 1 pleb at the back of the attacking squad cannot fully see that model due to ruins, defender gets cover. Didn't detract from a stellar battle report though, and the intro music was gold!

You did towering wrong at 26:30 ? In 10th, Aircraft can be seen regardless of ruins, Towering are still obstructed by ruins. The difference for Towering is they only need to be within a ruin to see through it, not wholly within like every other ground model. So a Knight only needs to be 1/2 in tonsee through a ruin into the open terrain behind it, but a Leman Russ needs to be 100% in to do the same. For 'Woods' though, towering get no benefit. I also think you may have been doing 'benefit of cover' wrong on infantry units. BoC is determined model to model, so if you have a 20 model unit, and only 3 are in a ruin, and the rest are fully visible to the attacking models, then you can only roll with the BoC on those 3 models, and as such have to slow roll your saves until they die, remove the ones with BoC first, then roll the rest of the saves normally.

That's the thing I'm seeing in 10th so far, is that tanks and some elite infantry got a boost in durability, but light infantry absolutely did not. Bonus points for all the free wargear, so now every tank has an extra 2-3 anti infantry guns strapped to it. Lists don't need to bring units that focus on anti infantry anymore, since bringing all the other stuff a list needs brings plenty of anti infantry as a side effect.

Mordian you need to use the Tyrants free Strategems those first hormagaunts could have had lethals on 5+, and he could have had a permanent 5++ enhancement while the flying tyrant could do the same giving out that 5++ for free. That poor tervigon stuck at the back you need that girly up in close combat.

@mordionglory you should consider getting psychophage they a cheap to find second hand they have a 5++ and give everything 6++ within 6 inches couple that with having a squad of zoanthropes with it gives 6+ invulnerable. With those 2 benefits i had 20 termigaunts eat a repulsor executioner with only 4 losses. Drop the tervigon for 190 add those 2 for 235 and adjust from their. Not to mention how lethal zoanthropes are i love running at least 2 squads of 3 to spread that invulnerable and pack all that s12 ap-3 d6+1 goodness with a s7 blast alternative for infantry to boot.

3+ saves never go to a 2+ with cover. But a 3+ save in cover against ap1 remains a 3+. Edit: i read your comment wrong. Dont know where this happens so i cant help you.

Surely you only get cover if in cover, guys in open shouldn't benefit because they have a unit member 5" back in cover, doesn't make sense to me even if it is a rule

Well, it is so because the person shot at decides where the shots are allocated and quite reasonably decides it is a model in cover.

Guys in the open don't get cover. Only the ones on cover. BUT you have then allocated the attacks to those models in cover, so any failures die. You don't get to take the guts in the open off the board if the saves were made on the ones in cover
