Why do so many people forget the earth orbits in a corkscrew motion as the sun is hurtling through space. The 1st sight of the sun before civil Twilight at dawn is a mirage as the sun reflects from our atmosphere and the speed of our day speeds up and slows down as Earth drops and rises in its corkscrew orbit. This is why our orbit is eliptical. Nothing in space is stationary. Our timekeeping skills are only 75% accurate. We can estimate time after it has happened but cannot calculate it during the present tense. Still a great little video to Stoke young kids path to asking themselves questions and exploring the answers

Okay! Can you explain? According to you. The earth already rotated 360°. But did not make it to it's reference point. That how is it 360°?
@uturniaphobic
@uturniaphobic 5 лет назад
so what is the additional amount of degrees we need to get the sun back to noon? I'm guessing about 1 degree + the usual 360 degrees, for an average of 361 deg of spin for each day.
@thephaneron3676
@thephaneron3676 3 года назад
It's just under 1 degree my man, 0.99° or 59.4 arc minutes. And you're absolutely right. If earth orbited exactly 1 degree around the sun each day, our years would be 360 days long and not 365... Which is why we have leap years.

0:14 "A day is the length of time it takes the earth to spin 360 degrees on its axis, or is it 361?" It seems the 360 degree spin is a sidereal and the 361 a solar day. Ignoring all the other factors covered in the video, if a complete orbit took exactly 360 sidereal days, then the number of solar days in a sidereal year would be exactly 359. If a complete orbit took 361 sidereal days, then the number of solar days in a sidereal year would be 360. Right?

"Daylight Saving Time" is NOT analogous to "cutting off one end of a blanket and sewing it on the other to make it LONGER" (which of course it doesn't). It's analogous to "cutting off one end of the blanket and sewing it on the other in order to move the emblem in the center of the blanket closer to pillows" (which it does).

There are 365.24 solar days a year. Hence on the century years only those divisible by 400 have a leap year. (1700 did not have a leap year)

I always thought (for about 15 years) that a earth's spin was 23h 56m and 4s, now it makes sense after this vid!
@shayanchamas60
@shayanchamas60 3 года назад
It is 23h 56m and 4s. It's called a Sidereal Day. Sidereal means relative to the stars. A solar day is longer because the Earth is moving in its orbit around the Sun. The length of the solar day changes each and every rotation and varies from being slightly less than 24 hours to more slightly more than 24 hours depending on the position of the Earth in its orbit. We average this out to 24 hours.

How many days in solar year. You may say 365.2425 as per gregorian, 365.25 as per julian and 365.24218 as per scientific community or astronomers and astrophysicists, they called it tropical year and calculated that sidereal year (alignment to fixed star) is lessen by about 20 minutes every year. This difference in tropical and sidereal year led to idea of precession of equinox or say gyroscopical motion of earth, the precession rate calculated as about 50" (seconds in angle) per year. These precession cause shifting of season relative to fixed constellations of ecliptic. But you might wonder that this is not correct. A year consists of 359 synodic days (from sunrise to next sunrise) or days. As we know from science and observation if one want that a sidereal day (position of a star to next rise or day) is 4 minutes less than a synodic or day. So a day is 24 hours of average, while a sidereal day is 23 hours and 56 minutes. We are not assuming that whether earth is rotating or sidereal day is of 1 degree. That makes calculation lot easier but that takes assumptions. The difference of 4 minutes cause sun to rise further eastward from that star. So to again align for that star with its initial position took one complete sidereal rotation or one sidereal day. So mathematics is, no. of days per minute of sidereal recession = 1/4 days per minute. For a complete sidereal circle of 23 hours and 56 minutes or 1,436 minutes is = 1/4 × 1,436 = 359 days. Now this 359 days or 360⁰ is duration of a sidereal year in terms of synodic days. Here we don't take assumption that 1 sidereal day is 1⁰ on ecliptic, so loss of time for 360⁰ is = 360 × 4 = 1,440 minutes or 1 day. Subtract this from 360 days (assuming 1⁰ on ecliptic is 1 synodic day) is 359 days. Here both tropical and sidereal year aligns after 359 days, so there is no precession of equinox or shifting of seasons. Question is why scientific community still persists on a year of 365.24218 days, which was modified version of ancient egyptian by greeks or romans. Their own calculation says that sidereal year is 20 minutes more, which comes naturally as 5 more days than 360 days and each day is 4 minutes less. They reversed the result by saying tropical year is shorter.

do you think the parth of the earth is eclipse because sun in on a higher plane than the moon, if we consider the moon as of of the axis the earth will be at a plane higher than the moon? like so virendrabattu.files.wordpress.com/2016/01/rahu-and-ketu1.png?w=659&h=189 why cant it be 13.333*27= 360? 13 degrees and 20 min into 27 nakshatras?

While it is true that Earth's orbit is an elipse, the diagram shown here grosly over-exaggerates that. Diagrams such as this reinforce misconceptions about the shape of Earth's orbit.

scientist do say that the earth spin is not constant through time, some times is faser, sometimes is slower. That would implies that days and nights, as we perceived them. do not ever have the exact same length of time. Earth 's spin over itself varies over time and is never the same length of time. Furthermore, it is a fact that the moon is getting further away from the Earth, therefore . spaceplace.nasa.gov/review/dr-marc-earth/earth-rotation.html

The 66 books of the Bible are not based on astronomy. But let me ask you, are you saved?
@kansasisaband
@kansasisaband 8 лет назад
Jesus Is the KING The entire Bible is based on astronomy, psychology, biology, physiology and skillfully presented in literary form that hides the truth in the words you read on the surface. But it's evident you're not ready for that. So let me answer your question. YES - according to the dogma of Christianity, I would be considered "Saved". I 'confessed' Jesus as Lord, repented, was baptized 3 different ways, spoke in tongues, healed the sick, taught others around the globe, went to Bible school, I have a library of study tools and know Greek, Latin and Hebrew as well. I went to mass, church, retreats, fellowships, camping events, taught Bible study for 13 years, served in the community of 'saints' that ain't and smiled and learned along the journey. Saved myself from all that religious smack... 15 years ago, when I FINALLY, after 20 years of being "Saved", I finally learned the true gospel of Jesus. And then I learned he never preached a gospel about anyone having to be "Saved"... so I forsook religion and Christianity and became a CHRIST by doing as he said and obeying HIS GOSPEL instead of religions gospel. SO.... NOW it's my turn to ask you a question. DO YOU KNOW what the gospel message was that Jesus preached from town-to-town? Because, you call him "KING" and, well, I'm going to BET my 'salvation' that you are completely CLUELESS as to the message authored by the Master as the ONE and ONLY gospel required for ETERNAL salvation. So please, be kind and let me know what the gospel Jesus preached was. It's essential to your eternal salvation. *And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him* - Hebrews 5v9
@kansasisaband
@kansasisaband 8 лет назад
Jesus Is the KING The books of the Bible are not based on historical fact, they are based on human experience. Their original origin, is the stars. Jesus never insisted anyone be 'saved'. That was never his gospel message. But you wouldn't know that, right? I mean, you're a product of fun-DUH-mental Christianity.

Why the hell would we not use the stars, which there are billions of, instead of the sun which there is one of. One is more accurate, the stars, and one is not. Yet we use the sun 😂😂😂 pagan sun worship still in our system.
@willoughbykrenzteinburg
@willoughbykrenzteinburg 5 лет назад
Because we value days being based on daylight hours more than the position of the stars. As it is now, the days are based on the position of the sun, so at noon, the sun is about at its peak height. There are variations due to seasons and such, 2 pm is always daylight, and 2 am is always night. The stars therefore drift each night, rising about 4 minutes later than the previous night. After 6 months, you are looking at the entire opposite end of the cosmos at night. If we instead based our days on the stars, the sun would be what would drift, and after 6 months, 2 pm would be the middle of the night. Sure, the stars would be in the same place night after night (with variations due to seasons), but nobody would have any idea what time it was. People with 9-5 jobs would be working through the nighttime hours half the year. It would be a horrible idea. While there is only one sun, it is certainly the overwhelming dominant light source, so logically we base our days on that. One is not "more accurate" than the other. They are both equally accurate.
@potita24

well the video is about the difference between solar and sideral day and how that difference shows us how wrong we are about the absurd concept of time and its supposed implication in reality. Science dogma teaches the time is some sort of force or entity that inevitably takes us in a flow of actions that can only happen from past to future, Without going into the discussion of what time really is, how it appears to move from to past to future,
