The only reason MLB would not vacate the 2017 title is because they don't want that blemish on their record. In 1919 the Chicago White Sox threw the world series against the Cincinnati Reds, and even then they did not vacate the title that year.

One way around this is for the pitcher and catcher to develop more sophisticated signs, so that it's much harder to decipher. Then, just let people use technology and try and beat you when you are aware that it's possible.

I despise it when people so casually say, "well, the Dodgers don't deserve the title, they didn't earn it." WTF did they do but fight their way through 162 games plus the playoffs to get to the WS, with millions spent by management and fans...only to be tossed to the curb and have people say, "all that doesn't matter because your opponent cheated so there is no way to know you would have won and actually 'earned' it." Last I checked there were only two teams on that field (which makes me laugh when Yankees players say they were cheated of a "title" that year on the audacious claim they would have theoretically would have beaten the Dodgers). If a little league team was found to have cheated in its championship game, yeah...the opposing team is awarded the title because why should they be penalized for an opposing team's decision to cheat? To simply vacate a title and say, "2017 didn't happen so, all the time and money you spent were for nothing...sorry" would lead to lawsuits...especially by the tv networks who spend billions to broadcast this stuff. And if the red sox were also found to have cheated, baseball would be facing the potential collapse of its tv contracts and its sport. If Boston is found guilty, the Dodgers would have been penalized two years in a row because their WS opponent had cheated. There is no clean resolution, but to so easily dismiss consideration of awarding the title to the Dodgers as opposed to the current situation of awarding a title to a bunch of lying cheaters is far worse than giving it to a team that "didn't earn it" even though that team was on the stinking field in a series that went the full seven games.

I'm sorry, how are all these people still in baseball? Where are the life time bans? Pete Rose got one of those and so did the 8 players from 1919 Whitesox team. John Coppolella got banned for life in 2017 because of "free-agent tampering". So are you kidding me here that these players, managers, GM and owner who cheated don't get a ban?

If MLB took away the 2017 championship, it would actually benefit Houston's players. As it is, Houston's hitters are going to suffer through a 2020 season where, in every ballpark they visit, boos and catcalls will rain down on them each time their names are announced and they step into the batter's box. They face an ugly, anger-laced season where they are treated as pariahs, outcasts, traitors to the game of baseball. If MLB strips their title, justice will be done and the furor will begin to die down. It's the best possible step for MLB to take. And it's the right step.

It is hard to get the apology right when you have no intent to apologize. Also, it is not only throwing at batters. Going into 2nd and 3rd spikes up. This team will get roasted and given the business by fans at every road game. Payback and karma are opportunistic by nature. Verlander will get absolutely char broiled when the Astros are in Detroit.

I don't think that any Astros player who is a true fan of baseball will not show their 2017 World Series ring. At least 75% of those players will be ashamed because they know that any baseball fan would call them out on that if they are flaunting it. I think it is best to let them keep it because they will never be able to enjoy the ring, the trophy or the "benefits" of calling themselves "World Series Champions"! Keeping it will only serve as a reminder that no one believes they are Champions. Imagine having to explain to your kids that you have a ring but that you do not deserve it?
