Freedom of speech used to exist primarily because the mediums through which it was exercised, such as the printing press and television, were controlled by capitalists who owned a significant amount of wealth. These capitalists were often lobbied by their government. However, with the advent of social media, which can be likened to the capital hall or Agora of modern times, anyone can use it without substantial capital. This allows anyone to have a significant influence, representing equality and a true depiction of democracy. This is not favored by those in power as they cannot control it
A friend of mine on Discord from the US told me that they avoid calling an ambulance, even in life-threatening situations, because they believe it's much cheaper to use a ride-sharing service like Uber to get to the hospital.
The cost of healthcare in America is very unreasonable. You could say that Indonesia is better, although not perfect. But yes, it's much better than in America.I once thought about what it would be like if Indonesia didn't have BPJS. Would it be the same as in America? Even if the citizens use private insurance, it still doesn't guarantee that all healthcare costs will be covered. If I'm not mistaken, some only cover a small portion of the healthcare costs. In fact, just a few years ago, Indonesia didn't have BPJS. I can't imagine how it would be :/ .Yes, the service is terrible, but it can be improved. I HOPE :) yeah only that we can do right now
The issue in america is mainly the regulatory environment, not the private part. If you look at the regulations, you need a permit to even just expand a hospital. You need one to build one and presumably it is subject to planning restrictions, environmental regulations and so on. Then you have the high standards for qualifications in medicine and the patents around drugs.
@@BasedInShow It's definitely a good place. If you come to China, please learn how to use mobile payment first, otherwise your travel experience will be greatly reduced.
You all believe in such a ridiculous thing as the social credit system😂...it's so ridiculous😂, like a mysterious urban legend, everyone thinks it's true, but why there's no evidence...because it's a fool's comedy in itself, it doesn't exist at all Things... Every time see the credit scores of your sworn reviews, the real Chinese people are amused by you guys😂😂
Somewhat interesting, but not much, could be deeper, suggest next time to find someone who has been to China and the United States and still has different ideas to talk about it, but the Chinese girl is welcome to go back to her ancestral shrine to offer incense, to show that the bloodline that went out to make a living is still alive in the world
Indonesia could enjoy rapid growth from adopting the China model of (arguably) benevolent authoritarianism but decades of having corrupt political figures plus ethnic & cultural diversity make that pretty much impossible. We're stuck with noisy many party democracy that makes progress sluggish. Collectivist mindset might lubricate the gears tho. Funny thing is, I find socmed like TIkTok adds fuel to the "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika" slogan by making us realize we're united in our backwardness. At some point we will realize we collectively have to do better. Keep feeding us those moped stunt vids that end with kecebur comberan. If your FYP algorithm doesn't give you those, you're elitist.
The China model isn't necessarily going to go down well, our labour isn't cheap, well not cheap enough. And the workers are demanding higher minimum wages so you can't just china LARP.
@@Cecilia-ky3uw Why LARP when we've actually walked the same path. CCP is akin to Golkar during Suharto's reign of dwi fungsi ABRI military dictatorship. We enjoyed stability and rapid growth back then at the cost of moral and human rights degradation.
The story about Mandate of Heaven is so damn right... until Eruopean and Japanese conquer China for hundreds years (century of humiliation) thus born insurrection by CCP and Kuomintang, fighting for power and control of China, but Kuomintang lost the civil war and went to Taiwan (China with democracy)
@@yestomor7673 not necessarily. But definitely not warming to any idea of social welfare or taxes. Nvm being warm to the Chinese government. She claimed herself to be a libertarian, which is far from her prescription.
Ehhh there are forms of libertarianism if yiu could call it that involving the protection of your rights by a strong state, think monarchist libertarianism lol.
While the downsides of American politics get attention (often rightly so), there's a lack of attention paid to CCP interfactional politics. The biggest downside of a one-party state isn't a lack of freedom for the public but rather that there's a strong concentration of power into a handful amount of people who play politics like its student politics (Li Keqiang was basically bullied to death). Until Xi came to power, there was factional power sharing arrangement between the two leading factions, that's been broken up. The long-term effects of this are yet to be seen. How you absorb internal political conflict is the most important strength of a political system, to see how resilient and robust it is. American democracy does a very good job of nullifying serious challenges, will be interesting to see how Trump does, but for now it has worked.
@@Jeremy_Alfa17 Trump has a very comfortable lead in the key states. National polling doesn't matter. Only the key states that will swing matter. If election was held today, Trump would win easily.
Culture also plays an important part, otherwise china would just collapse during the 1990s like the Soviet Union. Many US professors predict the collapse of China almost every year, but it is still there, with its economy getting stronger, very different from the Soviet economy.
