I received the Asus from CDW yesterday. It is extremely well built; fast; super bright and crisp screen; great sound, and all the ports you could ever need. It's not a touch screen, which is fine, because my old Chromebook - a top of the line i-7, 16MB Pixelbook Go had a touchscreen, which wasn't as useful as you might think, and the screen was always smudged. I really like the CX-54. But, you pay a price in weight and thickness to handle the speakers and the HDMI and USB-A ports. I miss the sleekness, light weight and toughness of my old Pixelbook Go. I think there's still a market for an updated version of that. It only had 3 type C ports to keep it slim. The speakers weren't as good and the display was a little smaller; but it felt so much more portable, more "grab-and-go". The Asus by comparison, is closer to a traditional laptop in size and weight. I think something on the order of the new Macbook Air would be ideal.

I wish ASUS would not limit the touchscreen to a single 'premium' version of this Chromebook. It would be awesome if they'd include an optional touchscreen on the lower-spec models. For me, a touchscreen adds an additional element to the device and makes my workflows and interactions more fluid. I appreciate the touchpad might be amazing, but a touchscreen allows you to quickly click a button in the UI or access a tab much faster.

This is where Chromebooks needed to go. Now, that just need some style like Pixelbooks did!

Now that I've had the CX-54 for a couple of days, I'm falling in love with it. It has the best keyboard I've ever had the pleasure of using. And, this may not affect many of you; but my old Pixelbook Go had a polarized filter on the screen that happened to run the polarization alignment 90° counter to my sunglasses so I couldn't see the screen with my sunglasses on. (I live in a sunny place and like to work on my balcony). the CX-54 screen is not only super bright, I can see it fine with my sunglasses on.

I just got my CX54 with 16gb of RAM, minus touchscreen. Not missing the touchscreen. LOVING the 16gb ram + great processor! The device feels like - I'm LOVING THIS EXPERIENCE! webcam is GREAT!

I bought the $699 version. It's better than my trusty old Pixelbook.

Was able to actually pick up the base spec version off Amazon with prime shipping and all - so just got it yesterday. I really like it. Keyboard is amazing! Feels like a tank. Yes this one has the plastic boarder around the screen not a full edge to edge glass screen but It's still super bright and sharp.

Really interested in this one. In Germany, they officially only sell an even more expensive version: Core Ultra 7 155U, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB NVMe for a whopping 1.349€. It's brutal, but it would be such a rocket ship.

All Chromebooks should be upgradable especially storage and ram!

If they are going to make multiple iterations of a device, "All" of those iterations should be available for everyone to buy. Even if it's solely from the manufacturer's website. I'm sure there are reasons why this doesn't happen but I really feel it should. The worst case scenario in my view, is that it would increase revenue for the manufacturer. And I can't see them worrying about that.

I bought one based on your review which will be my first ASUS purchase; it was a splurger, for sure. Why wouldn't they put in a touch screen? seems like a no-brainer. I hope it will be good.

I think Chromebooks ought to be called Chromebook 4, 8 and 16, instead of " plus " chromebooks used to be able to operate with two gigabytes of RAM this increased to 4 gigabytes and now I think we are in the eight gigabyte area. I still feel apposed to Chromebooks which are basically PCs i.e 16 gigabytes of RAM and i5 processor etc

How do I make my Chromebook useful? I've tried and I've tried. From Apps that "Close unexpectedly" to indeterminant location of files, online or on internal drive, to apps and files not opening offline... it drives me crazy. I like my Lenovo Ideapad and would like to travel with it, but it's not something I can rely on.

I've never had a monitor that lifts up the chassis when opened...is that annoying to work with?

I ordered this system from CDW on 7/9. The catalogue entry shared by CU says that they now have 300 in stock, and if ordered in the early half of the day, will ship that day. However, my unit still shows as backordered. Not sure what to make of that. CDW says the order page shared by CU is actually populated by their distributor. So, they can't speak to the conflicting info. I'd be curious to hear if anyone else has ordered and received the I5-512/16 from CDW?

Reported 4 fake accounts posting comments on this video. 🤦‍♂️ It's crazy that people engage with fake accounts. Please be careful who you engage with on RU-vid. Check there channel. Usually you can spot them out with low to none existent subscribers with links to some adult website.

You might want to change the video title. Kinda misleading based on being a different model Chromebook compared to the video description. This Chromebook is pushing $1,000 USD. Pretty expensive. But it's a nice Chromebook. 16GB's of RAM needs to be a standard for Chromebook's.

Please ask them to make an internal card reader

Chromebooks are used in schools !!! so they need to be FUNCTIONABLE and INEXPENSIVE . schools cannot afford $699 Chromebooks !!
