Asus Zenfone 6 vs OnePlus 7 Pro comparison, sizing up these full-view smartphones for camera smarts, performance, battery life, specs and value for money. I've used both of them as my daily driver and they're two of my favourite mobiles of 2019, offering a speedy experience, impressive optics and that notch-free screen action. But which is best for you?
The Zenfone 6 sports a unique flip camera which means you can shoot 4K video at 60FPS in 'selfie mode' - something the OnePlus 7 Pro can't manage with its pop-up shooter. However, the OP7 Pro does boast the better display, a QHD+ AMOLED panel with 90Hz refresh rate and incredible HDR10+ visuals.
Still, on performance they're both brilliant - Asus and OnePlus have both shoved in a Snapdragon 855 chipset, so gaming with the likes of PubG Mobile is a dream. Likewise, the battery life is sublime - you'll get well over a day of use on a full charge, with fast recharge abilities too.

2 things to note about the ZenFone 6: - Dual speakers can be amplified and adjusted for richer audio. - Has 2x lossless zoom without the quality dropping off.

With significantly lower price, Zenfone 6 is certainly a better choice than One plus 7 pro. If Asus could take advantage of this mammoth battery then it would become a great device.

didnt see the point of comparing these two phones... one is obviously more superior, u can see that from the apparent different in their bezels, zenphone looks like 300bucks honor v20 or redmi 7pro which is less than 200bucks.... Tbh, zenphine really doesn’t have a good value.. if these two have the same price, how on earth would someone go for zenphone instead of oneplus 7 pro, be realistic, imagine it was u, would u go zenphone? Oneplus7pro advantages are amoled panel,90hz refresh rate,qhd resolution,hdr+ support,ufs 3.0,warp charge,telephoto cam,water resistant without ip rating. Zenfone6 advantages are best selfie cam,battery life,audio Jack,sd card slot(dedicated),fm radio,more compact. Both are value for money but what Asus offers is enough for me to save 200 euros.

Correction: Oneplus lied about the zoom, it's not really 3x, it's more like 2.6x, they're using sensor crop to get to 3x.

pacificStandard no one cares about your spec sheet dude. In person you can barely tell a difference in display quality. When the 1440p OLED drains that battery (which it does if you watch battery drain tests on RU-vid) don’t whine on OnePlus’ cancerous community app. OnePlus is dying. They’re being replaced with cheaper better options.

ZenFone 6 has the better audio with DTS:X Ultra. That's 7.1 and it's a difference maker when you have a headset on. Not kidding. Also DTS Headphone:X virtual 7.1 surround.

@@goldeneyeforevercom Every single time, when you don´t have 8 channels (means 8 speakers), the 7.1 surround will be always virtual, but that´s nothing bad. With help of good technology and clever fine-tunning in Zenfone´s Audio Wizzard you can get a really nice sound & music from that device :) ;)

Indeed, I don't really get the point in comparing 2 phones when one costs £150 or almost 1/3 as much again as the other, especially when the OnePlus 7 exists so there's a direct comparison that can easily be made at the exact same price point I assume that OnePlus have played a game by only sending out Pro versions to reviewers so that it's just too easy for comparisons like this to be made.

I am buying the regular op7 over zenfone. Yes zenfone has a better battery life and headphone jack, but I am currently using an Oneplus 2 (use it over 3,5 years now) . And this Oneplus 2 still is fast and after replacing the battery it's still a good battery. Sustainability is more important for me, and I know that after 3 years OP7 is still very fast

Yep. ASUS showing common sense. Most reviewers skip over the shortcomings of curved edges. Why this is ignored on such an expensive device I just don't get it. I guess the same way that everyone accepted a block of dead pixels in the name of "notch". Support companies that don't do stupid design. That's how we win.

It comes down to one simple point. Is flat better? The obvious answer is yes, it is. Curved is dumb and I wouldn't expect anyone who purchased a curved edge device to agree. Look at this video and the game demo. How goofy are those "touchable" icons that are along the curved bottom edge. It's not just visuals that are worse.

Important note: when comparing the screen quality, make sure to not create an angle with the camera. The footage shows a big advantage for the OnePlus, whereas this would be much smaller when filmed from the center (instead of left angle). And to be honest, colors on the Asus looked richer to me.

That's simply unable to be true, maybe you don't understand display tech? Photo buffs prefer IPS because they can ONLY cover a certain range but they reproduce it accurately, but all OLEDs reproduce a much larger range of colors to the point it seems supersaturated. Also, black levels and 90hz. The display was no contest.

But I forgot that the camera probably is unable to pick up the true depth the OLED panel offers, and same story for my iPad pro that has an lcd panel as well and thus cannot show the difference. Have you been able to test max brightness on both?

@@alexsurber9404 In fairness this wasn't a fair comparison due to the fact the pro phone has the 90hz display, demanding a $200-300 premium over the non pro version of it. This youtuber is comparing a $499 phone versus a $710 phone at the least maybe more.

As an S8+ user, I will choose Asus over Oneplus, because of its nice form factor, unique design, and a massive battery. The additional cherry on top is its new software which is close to stock android.

You have to comment that rounded edges DETRACT from the quality of the OnePlus. If it's not flat, it's reflecting. And if it's reflecting, it's compromise. There is a big "but" involved.

@@jeveh_7630 Among things you mentioned, I only agree about back camera. Newer memory type hardly ever has any meaning (installing apps, operating on large number of files at once, what else?) and in real life scenarios both will just have perfect performance. When it comes to software I find OxygenOS overrated. Also, this new ZenUI takes similar approach to OOS - close to stock android with additional features.

Why didn't you mention the prices of the phones? TradingShenzen has both of these phones: - OnePlus 7 Pro 6 GB RAM / 128 GB: 607€ - Asus Zenfone 6 6 GB RAM / 128 GB: 557€ If you want, you can get the Zenfone in 6/64 GB combination as well for 497€.

High quality ips panels can always compete with amoled. Of course amoled is better, but high quality ips displays are not trash.

@Setzer K Thanks for the information. I have many phones, I saw many quality amoled and ips panels. And I want to tell that ips panels are more comfortable to my eyes. Amoled panels, they sure are vivid and have great blacks. But other than that, ips is better and has less burden for human eyes.

Thank you for the great comparison! It's a bit of a head scratcher that you were getting about the same battery life on the two phones since the Zen has a 5000ma battery and the OnePlus has a bigger display at 90hz with just a 400ma battery.

My verdict, if you love a great screen then go for Oneplus7 pro, but if you value headphone jack, MicroSD-card slot and longer battery life go for Zenfone 6. Performance wise there will not be much of a difference since both phones use Snapdragon 855. If you are a diehard nitpicky gamer go for ASUS ROG Phone 2 (Snapdragon 855+, 120hz amoled, 6000mh battery, dtx front firing stereo speackers). The most important thing here is how much money you are willing to spend? Zenfone 6 cheapest, Oneplus 7 Pro more expensive and Rog Phone 2 even more expensive. But none of theese is still as expensive as iPhone XS.

Even being a lcd, the display on asus 6z is amazing. Very good colors. Easy on the eyes and very bright too. I never had a problem in outside sun. I bought asus 6z a week back. And it is an amazing phone for half the price of oneplus 7 pro.

Asus team will provide updates to Zenfone 6 and make the phone alot better in future imo. No doubt the 5000 mAh battery is just amazing for a flagship! Will be upgrading to Zenfone 6 once it comes replacing my Lenovo P2!

Absolutely agreed. He even said oneplus 7 pro is better than zenfone 6 in terms of sound quality, which is impossible. Also for battery life part, I just can not believe that oneplus 7 pro could come close to zenfone 6. Oneplus 7 pro has really amazing display, but that's it. Other than that, it can't compete with Zenfone 6.

OnePlus 7 pro will definitely win the charging test with that 30W Warp charge, but zenfone 6 will win the endurance test with that 5000mah. For the price, compare it with last year zf 5z bc its should be at the same price at launch

ZenFone is probably the overall winner considering the price. But as someone who never uses the front facing camera, the better design, 90fps screen with it being 2K Amoled is very tempting. ZenFone - Better battery, headphone jack, price, expanded storage and camera OnePlus - Better charging, 2k, 90Hz, Amoled, better design, very small chin (compared to the ZenFone)

Was weighing between these two phones so perfect video! Nothing special that caught my eye on the Oneplus 7 over the Zenfone 6 so will go with the Zenfone since it's cheaper and I don't have to buy a new pair of headphones! 3.5mm jack
