I follow your guide, and now my camera is in working order again!!! For those that will be brave enough to do that fix themselves, have in mind that might need calibration. I did that by razing camera very gently about 20 to 30 degrees. Then i went to settings and i calibrate following the guide. Many thanks from Greece..
Thank you for the video! I was using your video as a guide of how to do this on my zenfone 7 and realized you do not have to unhook the camera module at all, just disconnect the motor, lift the camera module to the side a bit to access the screw and the motor. Once the new motor is in place you just pull the motor ribbon trough where the old one used to go and thats it xD
Thanks for this explanation in how to repair the Asus 7 Cam Motor. Mine went broken when i Put IT in my Front Jeans pocket, somehow Cam was flipping Out , maybe unlocked by Fingerprint Sensor. Afterwards the Gear was broken, now only Motor Sounds but No mechanical Flip is possible anymore. I think Asus has to Work more on it's product quality, as Putting your Phone in a poket while Cam ist flipping should Not lead to a faulty Gear. As i have guarantee on IT i will send IT to Asus but Backup all Data and have No Phone for 2 weeks sucks ... ;-)
Oh my god I didn't even think about that face plate being glued on. Thanks! Was replacing my cameras. ( the glass broke and the shard scratched the lens... )
Thank you for this video! I broke my camera lens glas and thanks to your video and links I just ordered the necessary replacement part from rounded. Looking forward to trying to fix it 🙂 any advice for removing the glass since you stated it was a messy pain in the butt 😅
Great video, thanks, it helped me a lot. In my case i think the gear or the shaft is broken. I can hear the motor running, but the camera doesn't move. The bad thing is that the spare part is out of stock everywere...
Hi, not really. I opened the case, cut off the motor cable and put some Tesa on the open contacts. The cam is working, you can flip it with your finger. You will get some notifications like "calibrate your cam" but it's okay for me.@@banguinoor8522
Hi, thanks a lot for the video. My camera motor was broken and I ordered from AliExpress and after carefully watching your video I managed to change the motor. Now, the flip camera is working but for some mysterious reasons in both front and rear positions the camera is upside down. I've tried to clear cache and data from the camera app, done calibration, restarted my phone but this new problem is not going away. I've opened the camera twice to see and verify all of the cables and connectors but no luck. When I flip the camera on both ends I can hear the motor still try to move a little bit. I don't know if that's the reason but I have googled the upside down issue and there are so many people having this issue without doing the surgery that we did. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or solutions for this problem. Again thank you very much
@@Benny.W Thank you very much for your reply. Well I have no idea about the module sensor or where it is located. Do you think I have accidentally flipped it? is it possible? It was your video that helped me and I managed to change the motor and still I was like 80% thinking that I will destroy whatever is working and just 20% optimistic that I will do this miraculous surgery. I would like to add something that the main ASUS camera was not working before the change of the motor with an error message "the camera is not ready please try again later" but at some stage it started working again. after the motor change, it's not working again with the same error message. Another thing I would like to mention is that all third party cameras and QR codes scanners are opening by default front selfie camera with picture being upside down. Only one third party camera that is called a "mirror camera" is showing correct pictures.
@@Azaad-Khan That is very stange behavior, unfortunately I don't know what might be causing it. My gut instinct tells me that there might be something wrong with the camera's ribbon cable (loose, damanaged, etc), but without further diagnosis I can't give any solid advice. I hope you are able to find what is wrong!
@@Benny.W well to be honest it was camera ribbons, clips or connectors the most difficult thing for me because they are very small and fragile. I might have damaged them while placing them back. But again if you Google Asus mobile picture upside down there are so many people having this issue and I believe not all of them have changed their motors. Anyway thanks a lot again your video is helping people.
Thank you for the teardown. I am just wondering if the Zenfone 7/7Pro and 8 flip uses the same camera module or compatible between each other. My main camera is now unable to focus and looking for replacement part. If anyone know where I can specifically get for the Zenfone 8 Flip. Seems like Aliexpress listing are showing that 8 Flip, and 7/7Pro as 1 same module only for sale
Unfortunately I do not know the answer to that. The camera design changed between the 6 and the 7, so I can only assume it changed again in the 8 flip.
@@Benny.W Welp I'll just have to wing it. Thanks for the guide. I'll be updating here once I get the parts and hoping it'll workout. Don't really want to replace the phone as there are currently no other phone without a hole punch. It's sad they discontinued the flip series
Sir, I would like to ask if you are a kart holder sim The Asus Zenfone 7 is similar to the Asus Zenfone 8 Flip because I lost it and could not find it among the sales in the store. Ali Express Please answer me
Hello, unfortunately I do not know. I never owned the 8 Flip, I do know that the 6 and 7 were very different. There is a good chance that the 8 Flip is different as well.
The motherboard and charger strip that goes under battery i connect that upside down it was still charging but phone was smelling like burning metal. I connected that right way now it is not even changing no red right.not starting up Will you suggest me what damage i made so i can buy that part
The glass itself is on an aluminum plate that is then adhesived to the camera module. When I replaced my glass, I broke it into little pieces and pulled them off the aluminum plate, then cleaned it up with some alcohol and adhered the new glass on.
I broke my glass as well. I broke it into smaller pieces so I could take out the shards and adhesive. You can find replacement glass and adhesive on eBay.
Hi! Very good the vídeo! Please, Im from Brasil and I imported my zenfone 7 pro from chine. My Flip camera broken and I cant find the motor Flip to repair. Do you have any option in USA to indicat to me?
@@Benny.W No no not the motor, the camera cover. I broke my camera lens glass and so I need to fix it. If I can open it with a razor blade and replace the glass, that would be awesome!
