ASUS Zephyrus G14 vs Razer Blade 14 - Pick the Right One! 

if i got a dollar for everytime matthew said “don’t get me wrong” i could afford both.

At that price the razer cost about the same as a G16 with 4080, which will have the vapor chamber too. I know its not the same size but I would definitely be picking G16 over the blade 14 any day.

At those prices, along with the lighter weight and longer battery life, the G14 is a win for me. It would make a great travel laptop.

Just a suggestion: you could draw the touchpads with a red line, just so we can see the difference more clearly since the blade is black and is not noticeable.

Starting my Master's in architecture and upgradable RAM in a laptop is huge... Autodesk programs like Revit recommend 64gb for optimal performance in larger projects, and this will only go up over time. This option makes it much more enticing as a dual purpose work and play laptop for STEM students

Blade 14 is literally the same as last year's. Either pick last year's Blade 14 on discount or go with the G14

If I would like to go for the performance, don't need OLED display (Like in Razer 14) then I would probably get neither of those and instead get the 2023 G14 model with 120W RTX 4070, selling around $1400-$1500 most of the times in Best Buy.

Little bit of misspeaking in the screen comparison part, I think you said G14 when you meant to say Blade 14 a couple times and it was confusing

Quick question since I might have missed this in the video - when doing battery tests are you doing it native refresh rate (aka 240 Hz for Blade 14) or is it normalized to something like 60 Hz? Asking because some laptops automatically go down to 60 when on battery but some stay at 240 (2023 Razer definitely did) and that can potentially get you 2 more hours on battery in some cases.

The Acer Predator Triton 14 with 4070 and 240 Hz Gsync mini led display was on sale recently for $1200. Blows both of these out of the water in terms of value for money.

Hey Matthew, great comparison. I am considering buying the Zephyrus G16 from BestBuy Canada (since G14 and G16 are similarly priced). However, I don’t know how long I would have to wait to get a small discount on the purchase. When do you think the initial discounts will start appearing? Also is paying additional $400 for 4070 over 4060 worth it if the use-case would rarely appear?

Thanks for the vid! Think I might go with the G16 with the 4080 and 32 gb whenever its in stock. Great gaming performance is important to me which is why I considered the blade.. but when I can pay the same price for a 4080 with a 16 inch oled I think that's my best option. Only other laptop I am considering is the new Legion 7i but I am not sure when that is releasing all I can find is the 7i pro which is to big.

Moooonnniizzzz! I know it's not your style, but in these comparisons it might be helpful for us to hear how loud the fans get at max. If you just have one laptop in front of you, there is no point of comparison and it might not be that useful in that scenario; but when we can hear both, it will help us compare how obnoxious one might get compared to the other. And BTW, no sticker comparison? Adhesion employees around the globe are very disappointed.

The quietness is definitely something many people overlook. I wouldn't buy the Blade due to the price and the horrible speakers, but that noise reduction is really nice.

What about the blade 14 (2023) vs G14 (2024)? which would be a better pick (thinking for next 5 years or so)

I'm currently shuffling around which laptop to get.. Zephyrus G14/G16, Razer Blade, or Legion Lenovo... I'm kind of focused on multiple tasks, like 3D design, music, video editing, productivity, gaming, etc. Especially for one with 1TB of SSD and good GPU.

Everyone agrees G14 is a stunning and budget friendly 14" gaming laptop but I am undecisive between stealth ai studio and G14.. The bettary life of stealth seems very bad but despite that MSI seems to have better cooling, upgradability, wifi connectivitiy, and similar performance?

I don't care how much better build Razer Blade 14 really is. It's a overpriced laptop. ASUS Zephyrus G14 is damn well build and it's much cheaper. g14 is win for me. Once you try OLED display you won't go back to anything else. It's so much better than LCD. Asus G14 has way better speakers and microphone. It's important for company zoom calls etc.

I tried to replicate the hinge wobble on my 2023 blade 14... I get absolutely none, not even a vibration

the fan noise is why i stick with Razer over the g14. i tried both. the noise is seriously unbearable with the asus.. PRO TIP - Just wait for it to go on sale

I ended up getting a blade 14 based on this review. No complaints so far. I don't care enough about the price difference, the build quality feels better and the thermals are quite a bit better. I'm splitting my time between this and my m1 max macbook now. Thanks!

My G14 is whisper quiet on Silent mode while fighting for democrazy, which to me is important while gaming next to my sleeping girlfriend. And the better batterylife+oled screen just makes it a so much better portable laptop. If those extra frames really matter, just get something a bit beefier. But those are just my two cents. (also pls send reinforcements to fight off the automatons, or should I say Crankers..)

Well my 2021 asus g14 lasted 3 years (before I broke it), so the 2024 has gotta be as good right? Insane price difference. No justification on the blade.

If anyone runs 3D applications, can you get away with 32GB of Ram? Or is 64GB Ram still needed? I usually work on architectural 3D renderings in 3ds Max + Corona.

Oled, G-Sync, Micro SD Slot (prefer SD but at least it's there), better customer service and $700 cheaper. ASUS hands down, there is no competition unless you are a Razer Fanboy.

I would never recommend anyone to buy a Razer laptop. They are built to fail after warranty. I’ve had to have 4 replaced and now Razer support just doesn’t answer me

Pros and cons to each model, still… The G14 would be perfect with the same upgrades the blade 14 offers and the vapor chamber they got rid off this year. The blade 14 needs an Oled panel, better speakers and better microphone for me to be fully invested. My humble opinion so far is that none of these 2024 laptops are worth the money, because for half the price you can get a 2022 or 2023 variant that is really nice. And I think that is worth considering when you realize that you are paying 2-3k for something that still has a lot of compromises.

In UK, the price difference is very narrow G14 £2300 (4060) £2400+ (4070,) Blade 14 £2150 (4060) and £2650 (4070, both colour amazon) last year blade 14 £2100.....

Once blade 14 will get an optional oled display and second ssd slot that would be the best gaming 14’ laptop. But not this year i guess.

if I was buying a laptop to use it for 6-7 years, I wouldn't buy an OLED one purely due to fear of burn in. the extra ram is also too good especially upto 96gb and it can handle future engineering applications as well

review completely misses the opportunity to talk about software. razer has god awful software with virtually zero customization. the g14 has an application called ghelper which replaces the armory crate bloatware. ghelper allows you to undervolt both the CPU and the GPU with virtually zero processes sucking up your RAM/CPU providing more customization than armory crate. i have a m16 (4070) and because of ghelper i can get max value out of my gpu with under 40 decibals of noise when undervolting and power limiting my cpu. matthew, you really need to include ghelper when reviewing asus laptops. using armory crate completely handicaps all asus laptops in your reviews.

Better buy the Razer Blade 14 from 2023. costs reduced €1800 with rtx4070 and the processor is practically the same. I bought it yesterday and it's great.

Owned both. Save the headache and get the G14 and install Ghelper. Synapse is a joke.

The RAM on the Blade 14 is slower and more power hungry, contributing to the much lower battery life. That is the trade-off this generation for swappable RAM.
