Rebecca rose heroically to the moment with her voice remarkably intact. Her performance here elicited tears, smiles, and admiration, greatly complemented by the outpouring of love from everyone involved. It's at times like these that we take stock of what's important and call up the best we have to offer.
How cruel and horrible this life is..if there is a God i don't know how he can let good people suffer and die like this..how how do people still believe and have hope..her family must be devastated..
How does the world go on without Rebecca’s gorgeous voice? This loss,at the end of this horrendous year, is too much. Deep and sincere condolences to Her family...and to all of us who loved her.
I just came to this video too which was a fitting testimony and a lasting tribute to Rebecca as a person and her fight with ALS which I hope will be eradicated one day with new drugs. My sincerest condolences to Rebecca's family who should be so proud of her as we all are but the fight goes on to find the solution to ALS.
heartbreaking. the last time i saw her was early 2015 after a matinee of "cabaret". i sat next to her and danny at a bar and quickly told them both how much i enjoy them. very nice humans. all my love to that family.
So, so sad. ALs took her so quickly. Was comforting to watch this video though & see her courage, bravery, & advocacy. Was proud to donate to Project ALS.
This is so unfair on so many levels. Her contribution to American Musical Theatre will not be forgotten. The amount of skills, experience and knowledge that this woman possessed from the hardest and most creative times from the 1980’s-1990’s is lost. Not only was her death a loss for her friends and family it was for herself and all she had to offer through her lustrous work. So many performers from her generation and earlier were lost and this another master that is no longer able to pass the extensive knowledge down. We have many videos and recordings to remind us and enjoy. She lived an incredible life.

I guess because Becca seemed so other worldly, so born of a place that mere mortals only dream of. So full of light and genius. Yes genius when she opened her mouth. The music and love that poured out of her shining soul shall live forever. In a different time we would all gather on this Christmas Eve and hug you and drink something and sit shiva for your “shiska goddess” and remember stories. I can think of a story about 26 years ago when a troupe of actors went out to dinner in Southern California. We were a large loud table tucked in a corner of a restaurant. Someone, maybe it was our dear George, threw down the gauntlet to tell the dirtiest joke. I might have known one safe one. The winner of the evening was Becca who told joke after filthy joke until our stomachs hurt from laughing so hard. The jokes were somehow funnier coming out of that angelic human. I think she knew it. The bottom line is we were better for knowing her. I guess that’s the whole point of this mysterious life. Leaving the joint a better place than before you got there. She sure did that. I know you have battalions of wonderful souls who love you. Just want to let you know that if you ever need a shoulder I’m here day or night. Who sleeps these days anyway. I was privileged to see & hear “Ms. Luker’s angelic voice” as Lily in THE SECRET GARDEN at the Saint James Theatre in 1991 & as Maria Von Trapp in the 1998 revival of THE SOUND OF MUSIC at the Martin Beck Theatre in NYC. When I said earlier that we lost a lot of people this year...we indeed lost a LOT. We also recently lost NICK CORDERO (Bullets Over Broadway), MARIN MAZZIE (Kiss Me Kate, Passion, Ragtime) and ANNE REINKING (All That Jazz, Annie, Fosse). Broadway just got darker. R.I.P. to ALL WE LOST THIS YEAR. I shed a tear for those who left us. So gutted...and destroyed watching Ms. Luker perform, proving once again the LOSS we have is great and irreplaceable. Ugh. 2020 can’t get over any sooner for me. It’s just too much....TOO MUCH.
Secret Garden was my first Broadway show, and I have always loved Rebecca. What I wouldn't do to have just a fraction of her talent! Even now she sounds amazing!
I went to high school with Rebecca and she sang for us for school specials. Southern Sounds, I believe was the name of the group of five talented girls, one who was Rebecca. I saw her win Junior Miss with her beauty and beautiful voice. She is also a very sweet and kind person. One of my best memories is seeing her sing in the Phantom and sneaking back stage quickly to see her. Lot's of love to you and quick response with this new drug!
Rebecca the first time i hear you singing was in 2023. The interpretation from "all the tings you are" is the best to all the singers i hear before. All the days i hear you. So i love you so much. I am a litle boy, and i have only 84 years.
How could you not be a fan of such a wonderfully gifted talent and now how could we lend our support to her in her time of need. Always remember your fans are your family as well. Keep up the fight Rebecca. Make sure your loving husband knows we love him as well. Patti P.
My heart goes out to Rebecca and Danny. From Thailand, I've been a fan of Rebacca, ordering her CDs from Amazon since the time when RU-vid videos of hers were still hard to come by. I sing to myself yet your voice and your heartbound approach has been an inspiration. I know you will continue to put up a good fight.
