Yes indeed, that was John Mario doing what he does best. He is an amazing conductor and he works flawlessly with Jackie Evancho to provide the musical support for her beautiful voice. They make a perfect team.

I was there! Another memorable performance by an incredible young talent. She just gets better and better, I would appreciate it if you can post any of her songs - I forgot my smartphone and missed out recording anything :-( Thanks for sharing her with the world!
I love the way JM conducts. He's very clear, precise and sharp with his baton and his arm movements. The musicians have to know where the down beat is and how fast it's coming. Reminds me of my high school band directors they also conducted like that. Also well done for this pickup orchestra, very professional. Almost as good as Jackie's orchestra for her first PBS Special in Sarasota which I consider to be the best orchestra she's ever had.
This must be the same orchestra where they helped the Funk Brothers to add many of the arrangements for all of Motown's hits back in the 1960's. I've listen to every Motown songs so often where the have the Funk Brothers along with the members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra go along by backing up the arrangements. They did that with all of their Motown artists as well.
S. Silvers is correct, this was NOT the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, but an orchestra contracted especially to accompany Jackie that night. Although it's possible some of the musicians also play with the DSO. I hope you also have some video of Jackie from that performance. I was at that performance also.
You wouldn't by any chance have gotten the opening piece for the Detroit concert? The piece is called "Cavalaria Rusticana" It was a beautiful piece to open Jackie's concert. BTW, Mike it was nice meeting you at the concert.
+varnk Thanks for the reply. Then I must assume that Jackie is somewhat familiar with that particular piece. Maybe Jackie will add it to her repertoire someday and that would please me a great deal.
